Star Wars: The Force Awakens, by Robert Gore

This is not a review, just a short plug for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It’s fantastic, of the quality of Star Wars 4, 5, and 6, not 1, 2, and 3. It is a perfect and seamless blend of old and new, with subtle homages to some of the famous scenes in 4, 5, and 6. Harrison Ford does his usual good job, but newcomer Daisy Ridley steals the show. She’s got that rare star quality that jumps off the screen. The writing is superb and the special effects are great, especially in 3D. I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I stood in line two hours to see the premier of Star Wars 4 (you couldn’t get advance tickers way back in 1977). The Force Awakens is a great film, and not just for die-hard Star Wars fans. It actually surpasses its hype, and how many times does that happen in Hollywood?

  2. Agree with both of you except can’t say this is the best, but it certainly carries on the fine tradition exemplified in 4,5,6. Hurry up #8.
