He Said That? 6/9/15

From LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers superstar:

My motivation is to make sure my guys are ready and prepared every night we step on the floor. And I have some other motivation that I won’t talk about right now, but I have so many different things to worry about than being an underdog or guys counting us out.”

“LeBron James cryptic about ‘other motivation’ that’s fueling title drive,” http://espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2015/story/_/id/13042707/2015-nba-finals-secret-motivation-fuels-lebron-james-cleveland-cavaliers

The NBA finals this year has the potential to be one of those epic battles and epic stories. The first two games went into overtime, with the Golden State Warriors winning the first and the Cavaliers the second. The Cavaliers have two starters down for the count, and LeBron James has risen to the occasion, averaging 41.5 points, 12 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game. Who knows what his “other motivation” might be. The Warriors feature guard Stephen Curry, the league’s MVP. Cleveland has grit; Golden State wins the style points. Stay tuned, tonight is the third game of the series, in Cleveland.

  1. Cavs are gonna win it all-gotta go with the home team, even though every Cleveland sports team since the old Cleveland Browns won the old NFL championship game has choked when it counts.
I was there for this epic fustercluck…it was 1 below at kickoff, and got colder as the game was played…

  2. And what is SLLs “motivation” for this post. A new direction vs random relief. Too much objectivity. Who are you rooting for? Who wins and in how many games? I like LeBron, but with the Spurs out(not like last year), I get a pass on the above ?s.

    • I love basketball and I was trying to alert the readership to what might truly be a great playoff. As for who I’m rooting for…I used to think LeBron was an overhyped choke artist. Then he worked hard to increase his shooting percentage and develop his own version of the fall-away jumper, became the best player in the league and Miami won a couple of championships. I’m sure Stephen Curry is good, but I think LeBron is still the best player in the league, and with two guys out he is carrying the Cavs. I’d like to see them gut it out and win.

However, I’ve been a Lakers fan since I was a kid, and I went to the Forum a lot when they were Showtime. I was there when they beat the Celtics and the following year when they beat the Pistons. I met Magic and James Worthy. Magic made every Laker on the floor at least 10 percent better. I think Kobe Bryant was the most athletic basketball player I have ever seen. He did so many amazing things on the court that a lot of them didn’t even make the highlights. Yes, I saw Michael Jordan, but I think Kobe was better. There goes my Chicago readership.

  3. Thanks for the response and comments. I will now be watching and since I like Lebron, will root for Cleveland. No doubt your Cleveland readership will be soaring.
