[ Smiles ] A very powerful quotation!
My friend from France says this
is a quote from the June 15, 1807, after the battle of Friedland in Russia.
The change has been made. Thanks.
Sorry to post again SSL but I am now very curious and interested in this history (wish hussein was – maybe he would have done things different) but found out that NP said — In 1820, few weeks before his dead, he wrote : “By dying, I let two winners, two Hercules in the cradle: Russia and the United States of America.”
Post all you want; your contributions are welcome. Your quote is interesting, a few years later (1832) Toqueville essentially said the same thing in Democracy in America. Two of the best minds of the period came to the same conclusion about the US and Russia, both of which were “behind” the nations of Europe and were looked down on by their elites. I mentioned the Toqueville excerpt in my novel The Golden Pinnacle.
Hope to be able to get your book soon – no doubt I would enjoy and learn!
