Gary Shalon is a 31-year-old Israeli who has been accused of masterminding computer hacks that netted his group hundreds of millions of dollars. One hack allowed the group to “pump-and-dump” penny stocks.
When asked by a co-conspirator whether buying stocks in America was popular, Mr. Shalon allegedly responded: “It’s like drinking freaking vodka in Russia.”
