From Denis Diderot (1713-1784), French philosopher and chief editor of the historic project to produce L’Encyclopédie (1751-1766). L’Encyclopédie:
All things must be examined, debated, investigated without exception and without regard for anyone’s feelings.
That is offensive! Said too many in 2015!
The time for niceties is over! Be offended if you must but such is life!
SLL was disappointed with its offended total in 2015; it was too low! SLL resolves to offend more in 2016.
Enjoy reading your liberty-minded blog posts, however after reading Stockman’s misguided & disjointed elitist repudiation of the 2nd amendment (1/11/2016 post), I have to ask you why you link to him on your blog-roll? I don’t understand people who think you can pick and choose which parts of the bill of rights to champion and then claim to be supporters of liberty. Stockman is entitled to his opinions, but they certainly don’t mesh with the thread of your blog postings?
I link to him because of his incisive, and I believe, generally correct analyses of US foreign policy, financial markets, and corporate balance sheets and income statements. He brings a lot of personal knowledge and experience to these areas, and his book, The Great Deformation, is a trenchant examination of the ills of our political and financial system. I did not agree with him on the 2nd amendment piece you cited. It does not, as you noted, mesh with the thread of my sight, and that’s why I did not post it. However, if I only put sites that I 100 percent agreed with on my blog roll, I would have no blog roll. Also, if I only posted articles I 100 percent agree with, many days I would post nothing. Like I said, I disagreed with him on the 2nd Amendment piece. I’m sure a lot of his regular readers did, but he brings a lot to the table in other areas so I’ll continue to link to him and post his articles when I think SLL readers may benefit. That does not imply complete agreement or endorsement of everything he writes. There is nobody I regularly post, or links on my blog, with whom I always agree or endorse their views.
Fair enough, it is your blog and I will agree that a lot of his financial analysis is correct. But it is depressing to see his elitist agenda regarding the right to self defense, there are simply too many like him. Keep up the good work!

Thanks. I too found his piece depressing for the same reasons you did. I even thought about posting it, just to stimulate discussion among the many 2nd amendment defenders who follow my site. However, I don’t usually post articles whose main premises I completely disagree with, so I didn’t.
