Tonight, the Cleveland Cavaliers, down 3-1 in the NBA finals, came back and defeated the Golden State Warriors 93-89 to win the championship in seven games. They were the first ever to come back from 3-1 (32 teams had previously failed) and they beat Golden State and its MVP, Steve Curry, on their home court. Golden State set a record this year, winning 73 regular season victories, and the team was the defending champion and the betting favorite. Lebron James, one of basketball’s greatest players, sparked the comeback and was named the series MVP. James, originally from Ohio, had returned to Cleveland after winning 2 championships in Miami for the express purpose of winning a championship for the city, which had not had one in any major sport for over 50 years. From James:
Cleveland, this is for you.
Congratulations to James, the Cavaliers, and the city of Cleveland.
