He Said That? 6/26/16

From Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862), American writer and philosopher, Civil Disobedience (1849):

If a thousand [citizens] were not to pay their tax-bills this year, that would not be a violent and bloody measure, as it would be to pay them, and enable the State to commit violence and shed innocent blood. This is, in fact, the definition of a peaceable revolution, if any such is possible.

  1. Just say no! Don’t expect the response to be peaceable, though.

  2. People are far too afraid and brainwashed not to pay… I believe that’s literally all it would take to grind the evil wheels to a halt however. Soldiers/police are paid to follow orders after all.
