    That’s definitely true.
The garden gives you food for the body, the library gives you food for the mind.
I have an extensive library and an equally extensive garden.
    Makes life more enjoyable.

    • I have an extensive library, and when I ran out of space, I started filling up my Kindle. I also have a not-so-extensive garden, which nevertheless is yielding a bumper crop of tomatoes. I made homemade marina sauce the other night for the first time (with fresh-picle basil), tossed in some Italian sausage, put it over pasta, and it was out of this world. Can’t wait until I’ve got enough tomatoes to do it again. Life is indeed good.

      • Most people are kind of confused when they look at my bookshelves.
I’ve got one with various how-to books, books on carpentry/ woodworking, various books on house construction, and some of my engineering textbooks from college, along with service/ repair manuals for about 30 different cars and trucks-(due to having 6 daughters and doing all the car repairs myself.)
Then, there’s an entire bookcase full of cookbooks from my 20+ years as executive chef.
Makes for some strange looks and some interesting conversations.

        • The overall theme, obviously, is that you like to put things together: furniture, houses, cars and trucks, and great food. Growing, building, and creating things are among humanity’s highest activities. In most religions, that’s what the god or gods do.
