I’m guessing that EVs are not primarily for providing useful vehicles for transportation purposes. They are being built to eliminate competition from ICE vehicles, extort money and eventually render us practically immobile.
I think you’ve got it right.
That is precisely what is going on!
During the forced “transition,” the cost of an ICE powered vehicle will continue to rise in order for the makers of them to continue to be profitable; the cost of the fuels for them will continue to rise so as to make them increasingly less “competitive;” and the availability of them will continue to decline, as each one manufactured will increasingly penalize the maker of them!
What is destined for the used ICE car market one can only speculate. They will likely be legislated/regulated so as to become unable to pass emissions tests; parts will increasingly become a cost/availability issue, while laws actually outlawing older vehicles via age, engine, fuel consumption, etc., ad nauseum.
