Maui needs help! All the reef from Lahaina to Maalea is in danger from FEMA putting a HazMat dump in Olowalu. Maui needs help and prayers from all the world. . If you can bring heart and power to this, please, we need it, we’ve tried everything.
The situation is that there’s a neolithic site on top of Olowalu mountain. It looks to be Hawaii’s Stonehenge. But 400,000 tons of Lahaina’s hazardous materials waste is about to ruin it and the roads there.
They are almost finished carving it away. See pics and videos and legal docs and the Maui County Council meeting where 140 people cried out against it (links to that included). Could be kept in Lahaina then loaded to Bulk ship. Or the Navy ships that are outfitted with plasma incinerators totally neutralize it in-situ.
The whole world can help, there’s a link to submit a testimony, and invitations to the next 3 meetings. We need testimonies, experts, people with solutions. It’s insane, moving Lahaina’s HazMat materials 10 miles and halfway up a mountain. 27,000 dump truck loads along a pure pristine beach lined by the coral ‘nursery’ that reseeds coral elsewhere. And that’s just a TEMPORARY site, then FEMA is going to move it again, 20 miles, to a permanent site.
