Gonzalo Lira Jr. died in a Ukranian prison. The U.S. government didn’t lift a finger to help American citizen Lira. From Good Citizen at thegoodcitizen.live:
RIP—Gonzalo Lira Jr. (1968-2024)
We only have a finite amount of time to live our lives. Focus on the things you can control, and focus on the things you enjoy. The time you have is the only time you’re ever going to get. No matter how much money you have, or the connections you have, there’s nobody to talk to, there’s nobody to pay, you can’t get any more time.
— Gonzalo Lira Jr.
Gonzalo Lira Jr. was my cousin, though we may have only met once at another cousin’s wedding twenty-five years ago, and maybe not.
This morning my family got word in an email from Gonzalo Sr. that his son had passed away. I waited for the first reports, which eventually emerged on social media.
Tucker Carlson interviewed his father Gonzalo Sr. in December and was the first prominent person to receive word from him directly and report his death on X today.
As some of my early subscribers may remember when the Zelensky regime first detained Gonzalo Jr. in the spring of 2022 for reporting truthfully about the war, I created this video in his honor, assuming they would disappear him and we’d never hear from him again.
I quickly took it down when he appeared that night on a podcast as if nothing had happened. I also took it down because no family members could confirm his claim that his doctor “gave him 18 to 24 months to live” though he didn’t communicate much with family so there was no way to know either way.
