Short vs. Long-Term Thinking, by Eric Peters

The auto companies are not building any loyalty among the younger generations. From Eric Peters at ericpetersautos.com:

One of the reasons why the car industry is in trouble hasn’t got to do with politics – the mortifying effect of slow, regulatory strangulation of the car industry – although that’s a big one.

The other one is one the car industry has done to itself. It has alienated its future, which is the rising generation of drivers – a great many of whom cannot afford a car and so have never developed interest in driving one. That, in turn, means little-to-no-interest in buying one – because what’s the point in wanting something you know you can’t have?

A related example will make the point.

Harley-Davidson motorcycles were once the motorcycles for young guys who esteemed the idea of an iron horse and the freedom it represented. Today, Harleys are mostly bought by guys in their 50s and 60s, who are pretty much the only guys who can afford a Harley. The bikes – which are big and fancy and expensive – cater to this crowd.

Bro paid over $30,000 for HD, didn’t make anything on the resale but did wander all over Midwest and farther with visits to family in CA that we haven’t seen in years.

Without all the plastic and fiberglass a modern vehicle would be $100,000?

There’s that big mommygov snout at work.

Hot car spotted today-1970 split bumper Camaro with racing stripes, they don’t make them like that anymore.

Uncanny, the ad with apples, had to recharge batteries with coffee, grapes, peaches and Granny Smith!

    Nom, nom, nom!

That thing is still going and some good diet lose weight tips…now it is into cars, $50,000? Hory Shet! It is the article spoken while driving, also some of the youngers generations actually don’t care about driving due to safety uber alles pounded into them.

Happy Burger Area Study scavenge parking lot where I have found close to $200 over the years and gar packs that they use for blunts with one left, have to move some yard sale stuff from the car that we got for $20,00, a gas efficient grocery getter but does have turbo/fuel injection for passing.

Found $100 in a wallet in the next subdivision in 2020, nothing juicy since then, thanks Brandon. (/s)

Doh! $20.00?! You might get a Hot Wheels for that under Brandonflation. (rimshot)

Remember getting a good used car for under $10k, long gone.

The $20k mobile is a second round of the same vehicle that was rusted out at the back underside and not even a few years old and my mother had several of those Datsun 280z cars which are unsuitable for any place that has a real winter.

Second car was a Toyota MR2 with the Wankel engine that eventually blew, incredible gas mileage.

Love those Brandon photochops with engine needs service warning light on his head.

In the noticing department, thanks for sharing Substacks as it is so annoying to get to the meaty part and it says…for paid subscribers.
