John Adams Was Right, by T.L. Davis

People get the government they deserve. From T.L. Davis at tldavis.substack.com:

Distilling the entire political landscape into a single film is nearly impossible, but we’re getting close with Deconstruction. This is not a post about the film, it’s a recognition of how challenging the world is to understand. It’s taken a lot of time of thinking about it, researching it, discussing it. Sometimes, the only way to understand something is to try and talk about it, just thinking about it won’t do.

The left is just a mirror image of the right. In reviewing some of the social media sites, the things they’re most worried about right now didn’t bother them in the least when Biden did it. It was good then. There’s a lot of things Trump has done and will do that I don’t like, that I feel is a betrayal of the trust put in him by his supporters. They didn’t suddenly become acceptable because he did it. The left doesn’t have that sort of character. No matter what it is, it’s the most egregious of violation of the constitution and the rule of law when the right does it. They don’t even acknowledge those things when a Democrat is in office. It’s so blatantly intellectually dishonest, there’s no point in engaging with them.

All of that online stuff is really just entertainment, maybe edutainment to some degree, because one can learn from what they see, but those days are nearly over. AI is getting so good that watching some video clips are as likely to be AI as they are real. It’s the old communist goal of telling enough lies to destroy truth all together.

But here is one truth of the film: If you care about freedom, you’re going to have to fight for it and likely, you’re going to have to fight your own government. It’s not the first time that revolution became the only possible solution to a political problem. Those in the UK, France and Germany, some of the Scandinavian nations, too have already lost. Georgia Meloni just put forth a bill to ban Burkas and Hijabs in Italy. Denmark did this, too. There are some bright spots, but for the most part, Western Europe is unable to do the simple things to force the Muslims out of their countries. When it’s too late is when they have seized the political structure, then, only revolution will do.
