The government is the enemy, and it’s not going to fundamentally change itself for the better or cut itself down to size. That’s where we come in. From T.L. Davis at tldavis.substack.com:

I’m struggling to find something to write about when it seems like we might engage in nuclear war for the stupidest and most inane reasons. If we do, it will be to retain the prestige of the European elite, the old Western European powers, who have been adept at getting the US into wars since the turn of the previous century.
I grew up a proud American; confident in our nation’s ability to defend its citizens from all manner of subjugation and humiliation; defending freedom wherever it was denied. Yes, the government was corrupt, but all of them are. That’s the highest hurdle for a patriotic American, to come to grips with the idea that there are no words that can be put on paper that will ensure justice. It’s all subject to the honor of those enforcing the intent of those words and that honor has been absent for a long time.
The power of words, of the pen, is so horrifying to those intent on power and control; who understand nothing other than force; whose weapons are deception and indoctrination, express their fear at a loss of control in cruelty. That is the world of the 21st Century; a struggle for survival against the most powerful forces on the planet and the one true fear they have is the pen.
