Trump’s ego, always huge, has become completely unhinged during his second term. From Eric Peters at ericpetersautos.com:

Here’s what making government more efficient looks like – in golden letters. President Trump has renamed the supposedly closed-by-DOGE (does anyone remember DOGE?) Institute of Peace in honor of himself. Because he – Trump – is the “greatest dealmaker in our nation’s history” – because he has “brought peace to eight international conflicts.”
Trump previously called the Institute of Peace a “bloated, useless entity.” This characterization is interesting because the same could accurately be said about Trump. The war being funded by America in eastern Europe grinds on. The extermination of the Semitic people who live in what’s left of Gaza continues – but it is “anti-Semitic” to bring it up. Never mind that the leader of the state committing the genocide is not a Semite.
Trump is also reportedly considering renaming Washington’s Dulles Airport after himself – in addition to possibly having his likeness chiseled onto Mount Rushmore. This all smacks of idolatry – yet it does not seem to bother many of his evangelical Christian supporters.
He is becoming a kind of American Il Duce – as a farce. How long before he puts on a pair of jodhpurs with stripes on the legs and a chromed steel helmet?
He has long mimicked the facial expressions and other mannerisms.
The Duce – to be fair to the man – tried to avoid war, unlike his emulator. He rushed to Munich (at the urging of Herman Goring, who also tried to keep the dogs of war at bay) to find a way to stop Hitler from launching a war over Czechoslovakia. They did – at least for awhile. Mussolini was a “strong man” but not a complete idiot. He understand that war wasn’t going to well for Italy – or for him. As it turned out, he was right.
