Time for a Change, by Robert Gore

I recently suspended Straight Line Logic from 1/15 to “probably 2/8,” because of circumstances attendant on the death and memorial service of my mom, Ella Mae Warner. I had a number of things I had to do for the service, including write her eulogy. I was mourning her passing, and I didn’t feel that I had the time or the energy to post on SLL every night. I posted a video of the service and my eulogy yesterday.

Not posting every night became an unexpected bright spot during this time. My schedule is such that I read alternative media, my main news source, early in the morning. I have a day job. It takes 11/2 to 2 hours after dinner, seven days a week, to cull from my alternative media reading what I consider the best articles and post them on SLL. During my hiatus, I realized that nightly posting had become a grind. I’ve been doing it since 2014, except for an occasional short vacation, and it’s been a pleasure getting my evenings back.

Deaths of close loved ones often prompt reexamination of one’s own life. I am 67. My mom’s passing has led me to ask the question: if it’s a grind, why do it? Life’s too short.

Writing my own articles has never been a grind, and I will continue to post them on Straight Line Logic. However, my pace of late has been about one a month, and I don’t anticipate that changing. It may even slow. I’m finding it increasingly tedious and difficult to try to cut through the vitriol, hypocrisy, lies, and now, AI-generated lies, to write original and worthwhile articles.

Many of my regular nightly readers will be disappointed, but I believe they’ll understand. It’s time for a change.

Check back once in a while for my articles. As in the past, they will also be posted on other websites if the people running them so choose.

Thank you.

Robert

  3. Hello Robert.
I quite understand your decision to limit your postings. Of course, I am disappointed but pleased for you!
When tasks become a grind there is little benefit in punishing yourself. And I am sure you will find and/or expand upon the many wonderful phenomena of the world.
I must thank you for introducing me to so many talented writers – much appreciated.
So, au revoir – may your days be filled with joy.
    Zara.

  4. I am so sorry about your Mom. I still miss my Mom dearly. I totally understand where you are at on your writing journey. I feel the same way and have to take a break. So many people are writing the same thing so it is hard to find something new. Sometimes recyclycling and issue with updates is still ok and important to wake up the people still in the dark, if that is possible. Life is short and every day is a gift. I want to use my time wisely. I am in my seventies and retired so I do not want to get back into the “grind” where I do something as a job with a deadline and do not enjoy it. So I understand you stepping back. Take care and thank you for all you do.

  5. Robert ..long long long time
lurker, – I never feel enlightened sufficiently to add my 2 cents- your site and Gates of Vienna and TBP opened a worm
hole of cognition years ago, that While able to feel the edges of, became a focus of deep dives for an unrelenting quest to explain what and how I felt, but could not grasp the reality of; much of which has now – unfortunately( in the wish it not so – not the I now grok – sense) left realm of shadow.

I Came to believe in this quest, true biblical evil has become as foretold and better to see than not.

Your efforts will bare strong fruit in ways you will never know.
    Condolences for your loss
( and Sorry for the run on sentence…)

    Thank you

None of us are “enlightened sufficiently”; the important thing is to never stop asking questions. And no need to apologize for the run on sentence. I’ve had my share.

      Thank you.

      Robert

  7. My condolences Robert. I do understand your decision completely at the same time you and SSL will be missed. For years, you and SSL have been my faithful “morning news paper” providing knowledge inspiration, sometimes hope and sometimes frustration but I was there everyday. I say THANK YOU and send best wishes always. You have made a difference.

  8. Thanks, Robert, for being a truth seeker. My condolences. Pace yourself, but we all need to some degree – stay in the fight. But that can be measured by many actions. Often, just being aware is enough. Good luck and God bless.

  9. Thank you so much for all the hard work. You have made a difference for me.
