He Said That? 4/5/18

From Stephen King (born 1947), American author of horror, supernatural fiction, suspense, science fiction, and fantasy, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft (1999):

The idea that creative endeavor and mind-altering substances are entwined is one of the great pop-intellectual myths of our time.

One response to “He Said That? 4/5/18

  1. Thta’s some line from a druggie. Has King been able to end his long standing abuse of drugs? He is right its a myth but it doesn’t explain why “artistic” types are so dependent on them. Or why they endlessly promote them. But having read his last few novels I can understand his need for drugs to relieve his pain.

I’d consider drugs rather than read another one of his dreadful stories. He lost it twenty years ago. Pity, he once displayed talent and imagination.
