Yup, modern education. Indoctrination of useless shit, forget about the basic essentials.
Last year I was talking to my nephew about his first year in college. He was telling me about the courses he took. For his final project in a modern history class, he had to create a meme about some current event. Now, I have no problem with assigning someone the task of creating a meme as a homework project in current events — it actually sounds like a good idea. However, I was amazed that this was considered a “tough” final project-level task. It made up something like 20 or 30 percent of his grade for the course. I guess those old timey formal term papers are out of the question, now.
