DOJ Begins Probe Of ‘Missing’ Anti-Trump FBI Texts, “Will Leave No Stone Unturned”, by Tyler Durden

Five months of emails between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page have been “inadvertently” destroyed. At this point, destruction of evidence will probably hurt the FBI more than the actual evidence would have. From Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com:

Following the not entirely surprising news at the end of last week that The FBI “failed to preserve” five months of text messages between various anti-Trump agents, Attorney General Jeff Sessions revealed today that the department of justice has launched a full investigation into this debacle.

More than 50,000 texts were exchanged between the two FBI officials who have come under fire for exchanging anti-Trump messages during the 2016 election.

The #2 counterintelligence official at the FBI sent 50,000 texts to his mistress on an unsecure phone while pretending to be very worried about Russian hacking attempts and “kompromat” on Trump.

But, in another comedic twist, when asked Monday whether the FBI “failed to preserve” text message records on similar “Samsung 5” devices belonging to any other FBI officials during that time period, the FBI told Fox News they had “no comment”.

In other words, according to the FBI, it was Samsung’s fault thousands of text message in an especially sensitive period went missing. Incidentally, during the window of missing text messages, a lot happened: Trump took the oath of office; National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, whom Strzok interviewed, was fired; the controversial anti-Trump dossier was published; the president fired FBI Director James Comey; and special counsel Mueller was appointed to investigate Russian meddling and potential collusion with Trump campaign associates during the 2016 presidential election.

Certainly a “very convenient” period of time in which all potentially incriminating text messages would suddenly disappear…

“The loss of records from this period is concerning because it is apparent from other records that Mr. Strzok and Ms. Page communicated frequently about the investigation,” Johnson wrote in a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray over the weekend, as we reported previously, requesting more information and questioning whether the FBI had done a thorough search on non-FBI devices belonging to Strzok and Page during that period.

House and Senate committees have turned their focus in recent weeks to Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, counterintelligence investigator Peter Strzok, FBI attorney Lisa Page, former associate deputy attorney general Bruce Ohr and his wife Nellie – who worked for Fusion GPS, the firm behind the “Trump-Russia” dossier and several other concurrent campaigns to smear Donald Trump in an effort funded in large part by Hillary Clinton and the DNC.

GOP lawmakers have honed in on highly troublesome revelations over the last several weeks which paint a clear picture of a highly politicized FBI actively assisting Hillary Clinton as candidate for president, while using an unproven dossier which relied on the cooperation of Kremlin officials to smear then-candidate Donald Trump. 

Of recent interest to investigators is a trove of around 10,000 text messages between FBI agent Peter Strzok to his mistress, FBI attorney Lisa Page showing extreme bias against then-candidate Trump, while both of them were actively engaged in the Clinton email investigation and the Trump-Russia investigation. One text message in particular turned heads, in which Strzok referenced an “insurance policy” in case Trump were to be elected. Strzok wrote to Page: “I want to believe the path you threw out to consideration in Andy’s office — that there’s no way he gets elected — but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk.” It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40….”

Things are getting harsh: ex-FBI assistant director says recently demoted agent Peter Strzok belongs in Leavenworth prison. From Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com:

Former FBI Assistant Director James Kallstrom called disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok a “total moron” who belongs in Leavenworth federal prison, during a TV appearance on Thursday.

Kallstrom, a former Marine captain and Vietnam veteran, told FBN host Liz MacDonald that if an FBI agent wanted to stop someone from becoming President, “I think he can do what [Strzok] tried to do,” adding “He can fabricate things, he can make stuff up, he can lie, he can be a total moron.”

“You know, he belongs in Leavenworth this guy, in my personal view.”

Kallstrom’s comments come after two weeks of stunning revelations about the FBI’s top brass actively engaging in an effort to help then-candidate Hillary Clinton by “decriminalizing” her actions in the email case, while pursuing a case against then-candidate Donald Trump – using a discredited 34-page ‘Trump-Russia’ dossier to launch an investigation, according to several GOP members of Congress.

When a subset of 10,000 text messages sent between Peter Strzok – lead investigator in the Trump-Russia case, and his FBI-Attorney mistress Lisa Page emerged, GOP lawmakers honed in on a specific exchange in which Strzok references an “insurance policy” in the “unlikely event” Trump was elected President. 

Now, it appears, that “insurance policy” may have been the entire Russia investigation, cooked up using the Trump-Russia dossier provided by DNC-Clinton funded opposition research firm, Fusion GPS. Fusion has been linked to several attempts to undermine Trump – including hiring Nellie Ohr – the CIA wife of DOJ official Bruce Ohr, who was demoted for obfuscating his meetings with Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson.

FBI Edits To Clinton Exoneration Go Far Beyond What Was Previously Known; Comey, McCabe, Strzok Implicated, by Tyler Durden

Any language which implicated that Hillary Clinton might have done something illegal in connection with her emails in James Comey’s draft statement was excised from the final statement. From Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com:

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee has discovered that edits made to former FBI Director James Comey’s statement exonerating Hillary Clinton for transmitting classified info over an unsecured, private email server went far beyond what was previously known, as detailed in a Thursday letter from committee chairman Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) to FBI Director Christopher Wray.

The letter reveals specific edits made by senior FBI agents when Deputy Director Andrew McCabe exchanged drafts of Comey’s statement with senior FBI officials, including Peter Strzok, Strzok’s direct supervisor, E.W. “Bill” Priestap, Jonathan Moffa, and an unnamed employee from the Office of General Counsel (identified by Newsweek as DOJ Deputy General Counsel Trisha Anderson) – in what was a coordinated conspiracy among top FBI brass to decriminalize Clinton’s conduct by changing legal terms and phrases, omitting key information, and minimizing the role of the Intelligence Community in the email investigation. Doing so virtually assured that then-candidate Hillary Clinton would not be prosecuted.

Also mentioned in the letter are the immunity agreements granted by the FBI in June 2016 to top Obama advisor Cheryl Mills and aide Heather Samuelson – who helped decide which Clinton emails were destroyed before turning over the remaining 30,000 records to the State Department. Of note, the FBI agreed to destroy evidence on devices owned by Mills and Samuelson which were turned over in the investigation.

Sen. Johnson’s letter reads:

 According to documents produced by the FBI, FBI employees exchanged proposed edits to the draft statement. On May 6, Deputy Director McCabe forwarded the draft statement to other senior FBI employees, including Peter Strzok, E.W. Priestap, Jonathan Moffa, and an employee on the Office of General Counsel whose name has been redacted. While the precise dates of the edits and identities of the editors are not apparent from the documents, the edits appear to change the tone and substance of Director Comey’s statement in at least three respects. 
 It was already known that Strzok – who was demoted to the FBI’s HR department after anti-Trump text messages to his mistress were uncovered by an internal FBI watchdog – was responsible for downgrading the language regarding Clinton’s conduct from the criminal charge of “gross negligence” to “extremely careless.”
