The Fat Lady Has a Sore Throat, by James Howard Kunstler

Once America gets past the election and all the scandal, it still has a dysfunctional financial system and an unsustainable way of life based on cheap oil to address…or ignore until it can do so for no longer. From James Howard Kunstler at kunstler.com:

A mighty nausea wells up across the land as the awful day cometh. Who will receive the black spot of fate on Tuesday? I wouldn’t want to be him or her on that dreadful day. The flagship of Modernity has lost its vaunted mojo and nobody knows what to do about it as the USS-USA pitches and yaws into the maelstrom.

Much opinion “out there” contends that we will have to suffer an election overtime, with the results contested on every hill and molehill from sea to shining sea. That scenario suggests various outcomes, all of them pretty bad: 1) the election is once again relegated to a Supreme Court case, only this time it ends up a 4-4 tie. Constitutional crisis time. 2) Perhaps as a function of No. 1, it ends up in the US House of Representatives. The catch is: members aren’t limited to Trump or HRC. They can vote for whoever they like. 3) A lot of web chatter has President Obama invoking some sort of emergency with the election postponed until some conclave of political viziers can figure a way out of it. Unlikely, but possible.

FBI Director James Comey’s eleventh hour reprieve of Hillary in the email server case sent an odor of rotting carp wafting across the political landscape. Like, his peeps actually vetted 650,000 emails in a week? I’m sure. Of course, the FBI does not issue indictments; that’s AG Loretta Lynch’s job over at the Department of Justice. The FBI only makes criminal referrals to such. But this puts too fine a point on the matter because the much more serious issue is the Clinton Foundation case, and the arrant sale of influence while HRC ran the State Department.

That currently overshadowed case is not closed. It sends up the odor not of a single rotting carp but of an entire whale pod dead on the beach. Half the emirs in Arabia dropped millions on the foundation to facilitate arms deals or to influence policy at State, and that was only part of what looks exactly like a classic racketeering operation. The Clinton Foundation story is not going away anytime soon and it will suck all the air out of the public arena for as far ahead as anyone can see when Hillary is in the oval office.

All of that obscures the gathering calamity in banking and finance that drives the waiting, whirling maelstrom. Thanks to eight years of central bank experiments, the engines of capital are hopelessly gunked up with political additives like QE and ZIRP™. Nothing is priced correctly, especially money. It’s all kept running on an ether of accounting fraud. We can’t come to grips with the resource realities behind the fraud, especially the end of cheap oil. And the bottom line is the already-manifest slowdown of global business. The poobahs of banking pretend to be confounded by all this because everything — their reputations, their jobs, their fortunes — depends on the Potemkin narrative that ever-greater economic expansion lies just around the corner.

Hillary’s High Crimes & Misdemeanors, by Patrick J. Buchanan

Even if Hillary Clinton is elected, she is undoubtedly looking at a lengthy and extensive investigation, and perhaps impeachment proceedings. From Patrick J. Buchanan at buchanan.org:

If Hillary Clinton is elected president on Tuesday, and if what Bret Baier is reporting from FBI sources on Fox News is true, America is headed for a constitutional crisis.

Indeed, it would seem imperative that FBI Director James Comey, even if it violates protocol and costs him his job, should state publicly whether what Baier’s FBI sources are telling him is false or true.

The people have a right to know — before Tuesday.

For, if true, Clinton could face charges in 2017 and impeachment and removal from office in 2018.

According to Baier, FBI agents have found new emails, believed to have originated on Clinton’s server, on the computer jointly used by close aide Huma Abedin and her disgraced husband, Anthony Weiner.

Abedin’s failure to turn this computer over to the State Department on leaving State appears to be a violation of U.S. law.

Moreover, the laptops of close Clinton aides Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson, thought destroyed by the FBI, were apparently retained and are “being exploited” by the National Security division.

And here is the salient point. His FBI sources told Baier, “with 99 percent” certitude, that Clinton’s Chappaqua server “had been hacked by at least five foreign intelligence services…”

If this is so, Hillary Clinton as security risk ranks right up there with Alger Hiss and Harry Dexter White, though they acted out of treasonous ideology and she out of Clintonian hubris. What do these foreign intelligence agencies know about Clinton that the voters do not?

The second revelation from Baier is that the Clinton Foundation has been under active investigation by the white-collar crime division of the FBI for a year and is a “very high priority.”

Specifically, the FBI is looking into published allegations of “pay-to-play.” This is the charge that the Clinton State Department traded access, influence and policy decisions to foreign regimes and to big donors who gave hundreds of millions to the Clinton Foundation, along with 15 years of six-figure speaking fees for Bill and Hillary.

According to Baier’s sources, FBI agents are “actively and aggressively” pursuing this case, have interviewed and re-interviewed multiple persons, and are now being inundated in an “avalanche of new information” from WikiLeaks documents and new emails.

The FBI told Baier that they anticipate indictments.

Indeed, with the sums involved, and the intimate ties between high officials of Bill’s foundation, and Hillary and her close aides at State, it strains credulity to believe that deals were not discussed and cut.

Books have been written alleging and detailing them.

Also, not only Fox News but also The Wall Street Journal and other news sources are reporting on what appears a rebellion inside the FBI against strictures on their investigations imposed by higher ups in the Department of Justice of Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

FBI Said To Move To “Likely Indictment” Of Clinton Foundation, Fox News Reports, by Tyler Durden

If even half of this report is true, it appears Hillary is toast. From Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com:

Roughly at the same time that the WSJ reported of what is now a clear “civil war” between (and within) the FBI and the DOJ, Fox News anchor Bret Baier reported that the FBI’s investigation into the Clinton Foundation that has been going on for more than a year has now taken a “very high priority.” He added that FBI agents have interviewed and re-interviewed multiple people on the foundation case, which is looking into possible pay for play interaction between then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation.

The FBI’s White Collar Crime Division is handling the investigation, which will continue, as “there is a lot of evidence. And barring some obstruction in some way, they believe they will continue to likely an indictment.”

The news was cited by various traders as the catalyst that pressured the USD when it come out late on Wednesday.

“There is an avalanche of new information coming in every day,” one source told Fox News, who added some of the new information is coming from the WikiLeaks documents and new emails.

He added that FBI agents are “actively and aggressively pursuing this case,” and will be going back and interviewing the same people again, some for the third time, sources said. Agents are also going through what Clinton and top aides have said in previous interviews and the FBI 302, documents agents use to report interviews they conduct, to make sure notes line up, according to sources.

Here are the key highlights from his report, as summarized by Real Clear Politics:

The Clinton Foundation investigation is far more expansive than anybody has reported so far and has been going on for more than a year.
The laptops of Clinton aides Cherryl Mills and Heather Samuelson have not been destroyed, and agents are currently combing through them. The investigation has interviewed several people twice, and plans to interview some for a third time.
• Agents have found emails believed to have originated on Hillary Clinton’s secret server on Anthony Weiner’s laptop. They say the emails are not duplicates and could potentially be classified in nature.
Sources within the FBI have told him that an indictment is “likely” in the case of pay-for-play at the Clinton Foundation, “barring some obstruction in some way” from the Justice Department.
FBI sources say with 99% accuracy that Hillary Clinton’s server has been hacked by at least five foreign intelligence agencies, and that information had been taken from it.

Monsters under the bed. Chaos in your head. by Uncola

The Democrats and their media henchpeople are coming up with increasingly weird theories to keep the focus off the main question: Just how corrupt and criminal is Hillary Clinton? From Uncola at theburningplatform:

I don’t know which is more frightening regarding Part Deux of James Comey and the FBI investigating Hillary Clinton’s emails; the apparent civil war going on in the high offices of the U.S. government, the mainstream media’s biased reporting on the saga, or the reaction of John Q. Public to it all.

According to Team Hillary’s campaign manager, John Podesta, as well as many various media outlets, this latest move by Comey is controversial because it is happening within two weeks of the general election. In his letter to lawmakers, Comey said he felt an “obligation” to tell Congress about the investigation because he “testified repeatedly in recent months that our investigation was completed.” In addition to Comey’s sense of obligation, he obviously had concerns the discovery of the new e-mails could be reported at a later date and this would, in turn, raise questions of a cover-up that would make Watergate look like a simple governmental subcommittee hearing on public waste reduction measures in Sokone, Senegal.

The humamiliating emails were found after the FBI seized devices belonging to Huma Abedin and her husband, former congressman Anthony Weiner, during the investigation of Weiner’s sex messaging with an underage girl. In spite of the legitimacy of finding the e-mails during the course of pursuing another case, the New York Times reported the recent developments as bringing “stinging criticism of Mr. Comey from both Democrats and Republicans” and that Comey appeared to be now “on the defensive” because he felt “obligated to inform Congress” without knowing “the significance of this newly discovered collection of emails.’’

According to a Fox News exclusive, a leaked memo shows Comey chose to notify the public of the reopened investigation because he believed the citizens should know about it prior to the election as opposed to afterwards. Other sources are reporting how Comey jumped on the chance to reopen the case against Hillary because of an internal revolt within the ranks of the FBI and the fact that Comey’s wife told him “no more nookie” until he got his balls back.

But, good LAWD! Thank the heavens above we also have the mainstream media jumping into the breach in order to protect America from the devious and devilish intentions of Comey and his renegade government agency. According to a study conducted by the Media Research Center (MRC), since Comey’s announcement on Friday, October 28, 2016, the big three television networks of ABC, NBC and CBS have turned the Clinton E-mail Scandal into a smear on James Comey by negative reports on the FBI director, as opposed to the disgraced presidential candidate, in a 3 to 1 ratio. In fact, from the Friday of Comey’s announcement through the wee hours of Halloween just a few days later, the MRC analysts discovered the Big Three networks’ evening and morning show programs devoted a total of 2 hours, 19 minutes and 49 seconds to the Comey story as opposed to the 800 pound gorillas lurking within the smut-filled software and juicy java-scripted jungles of the Weiner’s laptop.

5 Separate FBI Cases Are Probing Virtually Every One Of Hillary’s Inner-Circle, by Tyler Durden

You can’t tell the players without a scorecard in the Clinton investigations. From dailymail.com via Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com:

The extent to which Hillary Clinton’s key advisers are now the focus of major FBI investigations is becoming clear. As The DailyMail.com reports, the Clintons’ long-term inner-circle – some of whom stretch back in service to the very first days of Bill’s White House – are being examined in at least five separate investigations.

The scale of the FBI’s interest in some of America’s most powerful political fixers – one of them a sitting governor – underlines just how difficult it will be for Clinton to shake off the taint of scandal if she enters the White House.

There are, in fact, not one but five separate FBI investigations which involve members of Clinton’s inner circle or their closest relatives – the people at the center of what has come to be known as Clintonworld.

The five known investigations are into: Anthony Weiner, Huma Abedin’s estranged husband sexting a 15-year-old; the handling of classified material by Clinton and her staff on her private email server; questions over whether the Clinton Foundation was used as a front for influence-peddling; whether the Virginia governor broke laws about foreign donations; and whether Hillary’s campaign chairman’s brother did the same.

The progress of the Clinton Foundation investigation and that into McAuliffe was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.

The FBI does not generally comment on investigations, so it is entirely possible there are more under way.

Here are the advisers and consiglieri – and how the FBI is looking at them

Huma Abedin: secrets and access – and perjury?
Probes: Clinton emails; Clinton Foundation

What does she know: Huma Abedin has been Clinton’s shadow for 20 years but now finds herself off the campaign trail and facing new FBI interest

Who is she: Currently vice-chair of the Clinton campaign she was has worked with Clinton for 21 years, since she was 19, as among other things, intern, ‘body woman’, chief of staff and senior adviser.

Huma Abedin is now represented by attorneys as the FBI begins the lengthy process of examining a laptop seized in the inquiry into her estranged husband’s sexting relationship with a 15-year-old.

It is the most recent stage in the Clinton emails investigation in which the FBI has looked into whether Clinton and her staff broke strict laws on the handling of classified material while she was Secretary of State through their use of the now notorious Clintonemail.com server.

The case appeared to be closed in July when James Comey, the FBI director announced that Clinton would not be prosecuted. It was later made clear there would be no other prosecutions.

However last week’s bombshell announcement that new emails were being examined put the focus squarely on 40-year-old Abedin.

Although the decision had been made not to prosecute, that was on the basis of the existing evidence at the time. But if the search finds new evidence of breaking laws about the handling of classified material, there is nothing to stop a prosecution of Abedin – or anyone else.

That, however, is not the only potential for a brush with the law for Abedin.

The FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation also drags her into the spotlight.
