People Can Win, by Matt Taibbi

We don’t have to accept things as they are. It’s the people who won’t accept things as they are who change humanity. From Matt Taibbi at racket.news:

We’ve been trained to think that endless rule by tiny minorities of really horrible people is the natural order of things, but that turns out to be just another lie

Earlier today Susan Schmidt and I published an article about a series of changes at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), a creepy sub-division of the Department of Homleand Security. It turns out that CISA, which just a week or so ago was busted for scrubbing embarrasing text from its website by the Foundation for Freedom Online, quietly eliminated its so-called “MDM” or “Misinformation, Disinformation, and Malinformation” subcommittee.

Just a year ago, the Department of Homeland Security was going all-in on the fight against “MDM.” The notion that America is fatally infected with “Misinformation, Disinformation, and Malinformation” was in fact the animating idea begind the asinine plan the Biden administration announced last April to institute a “Disinformation Governance Board,” which was to be headed by Nina Jankowicz, a self-styled Mary Poppins of digital rectitude:

America took one look at Jankowicz and at most a few fleeting moments considering the “Disinformation Governance Board” plan before concluding, correctly, that it was a beyond-loathsome expression of aristocratic arrogance that needed shutting down before the first Jankowicz presser. Characteristically, the press lied about the public reaction, claiming that the only displeasure was heard from the “GOP.” In fact, all sane people across the spectrum were instantly nauseated, their distress loud enough that the DHS hit “pause” on Jankowicz and the batty MinTruth plan after just three weeks.

Homeland Security’s “Disinformation Board” is Even More Pernicious Than it Seems, by Glenn Greenwald

The people who propagated some of the most egregious disinformation (lies) the last six years will now be in charge of determining what’s disinformation (lies). From Glenn Greenwald at greenwald.substack.com:

The power to decree what is “disinformation” now determines what can and cannot be discussed on the internet. It is now in the hands of trained disinformation agents of the U.S. Security State.

Official government portrait of Nina Jankowicz, appointed to serve as Executive Director of the new “Disinformation Board” to be housed within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (posted by Jankowicz to Twitter)

The most egregious and blatant official U.S. disinformation campaign in years took place three weeks before the 2020 presidential election. That was when dozens of former intelligence officials purported, in an open letter, to believe that authentic emails regarding Joe Biden’s activities in China and Ukraine, reported by The New York Post, were “Russian disinformation.” That quasi-official proclamation enabled liberal corporate media outlets to uncritically mock and then ignore those emails as Kremlin-created fakes, and it pressured Big Tech platforms such as Facebook and Twitter to censor the reporting at exactly the time Americans were preparing to decide who would be the next U.S. president.

The letter from these former intelligence officials was orchestrated by trained career liars — disinformation agents — such as former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. Yet that letter was nonetheless crucial to discredit and ultimately suppress the New York Post‘s incriminating reporting on Biden. It provided a quasi-official imprimatur — something that could be depicted as an authoritative decree — that these authentic emails were, in fact, fraudulent.

George Orwell Kicking Himself For Not Thinking Of ‘Disinformation Governance Board’

From The Babylon Bee:

HADES—Ever since hearing the news of President Biden creating a ‘Disinformation Governance Board’, George Orwell has been really kicking himself for not thinking of it first.

“He nailed it, absolutely nailed it,” said a dejected Mr. Orwell. “It sounds grimly clinical and impersonal, yet threatening. It really is a much better title than ‘Ministry of Truth’. I don’t know how, but this Biden guy managed to become more Orwellian than, well, me – George Orwell.”

Mr. Orwell also expressed incredulity at the discovery of Nina Jankowicz to lead the Board. “I could have spent a thousand lifetimes and never come up with such a perfect character,” said Mr. Orwell. “It’s a top-shelf villain name. Then you have the woman deliver vicious pronouncements of what may or may not be spoken by her cheerfully singing to the tune of a children’s song—a song famously sung by an omnipotent nanny while the parents are gone? Very twisted. How do they come up with these ideas?”

While feeling that Biden’s ideas had been partially plagiarized from his work, Mr. Orwell did give him credit for the very original idea of destroying gender and sexual identity. “Of course, The Party wants to be stronger than family ties, but the best I could come up with was a direct attack on the act of sex itself. These liberals have done me one better, and instead attacked the very reality of humans having a sexual nature as male and female…I just never even conceived of such an audacious attempt to bully people into something so incomprehensible. Well played, Leftists. Well played.”

At publishing time, Mr. Orwell was dumbfounded to learn that U.N. soldiers dispatched to war are called “peacekeepers”, freedom to speak is considered “racism”, and remaining silent instead of voicing agreement with Party beliefs is called “violence”.

The Disinformation Board, PolitiFact, and the End of Free Speech, by Boyd D. Cathey

The new Ministry of Truth may be the final nail in the coffin of American civil liberties. From Boyd D. Cathey at lewrockwell.com:

I suspect that many readers will have seen the opening monologue of the Tucker Carlson Tonight program of Thursday, April 28. For seventeen minutes Carlson took direct aim at the latest advance of the Biden administration and the managerial state in their incremental assumption of authoritarian power over not only over what Americans read or see, but how they think: the creation of a new agency within the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Disinformation Governance Board.

Here is the clip, and it’s a message that should send chills down the backs of every American who is at all concerned about what has happened and is happening to our country…and about those supposed guaranteed rights of speech under the Constitution.
