  • UC freshman Christopher Phillips, a writer for the University of Chicago’s paper, the Chicago Thinker, confronted CNN about several instances where the outlet pushed proven hoaxes, misinformation and disinformation
  • The Atlantic editor-in-chief accused student reporters who asked probing questions of waging a “disinformation campaign” at the conference
  • All warfare is based on deception, and we are currently at war. This is why we’re constantly being bombarded with the idea that truth tellers are lying, and that liars are telling the truth

Disinformation Board Detects High Levels Of Disinformation Coming From Mysterious White Building In Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Disinformation Governance Board has wasted no time since its official formation this week, and has already deployed thousands of advanced disinformation detectors throughout the country. The board was shocked when after only a day, the detectors detected a deluge of deadly disinformation in D.C.

“One of our disinformation detectors picked up an unusually strong signal coming from a mysterious white building in the National Mall at our nation’s capital,” said Head Disinformation Detective Harry Pomquank. “We’re not sure what’s causing it, so we’ve dispatched an elite squad of Disinformation Investigators to find out.”

Sources say the investigators found a doddering old man shuffling around in his loafers talking about the time he hiked through the Himalayas with President Xi, a Press Secretary claiming inflation is all Putin’s fault, and an HHS Secretary talking about how little girls can become little boys.

“Looks like this was a false alarm. We’ll have to calibrate our disinformation detectors,” said Pomquank.

The board is claiming some early successes, though, as they have already arrested 7 satirists and 12 meme-makers.

It’s about time the government sanctified the principle that if the government says it, it’s got to be true. From Caitlin Johnstone at caitlinjohnstone.com:

Rightists have spent the last couple of days freaking out and invoking Orwell’s 1984 in response to something their political enemies are doing in America, and for once it’s for a pretty good reason. The Department of Homeland Security has secretly set up a “Disinformation Governance Board“, only informing the public about its plans for the institution after it had already been established.

The disinformation board, which critics have understandably been calling a “Ministry of Truth“, purportedly exists to fight disinformation coming out of Russia as well as misleading messages about the US-Mexico border. We may be certain that the emphasis in the board’s establishment has been on the Russia angle, however.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, in her patented “You’re such a crazy idiot for questioning me about the White House” manner, dismissed alarmed questions about what specific functions this strange new DHS entity was going to be performing and what its authority will look like.
