‘Woke Warfighters’: GOP Report Says Leftist Ideology, Gender “Insanity” Weakening America’s Military, by Naveen Anthrapully

If a corporation adopts woke ideology, it loses money and perhaps goes broke. The military doesn’t lose money (although it spends an awful lot of it), but it can lose wars, and woke ideology undoubtedly makes that outcome more likely. From Naveen Anthrapully at The Epoch Times via zerohedge.com:

Republican lawmakers have decried the Biden administration for policies that they say are weakening America’s military through leftist indoctrination and “woke” ideological posturing to appease “Ivy League faculty lounges or progressive pundits.”

“Unfortunately, President Joe Biden and his administration are weakening America’s warfighters through a sustained assault fueled by woke virtue signaling,” said Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) in a report titled “Woke Warfighters,” according to Fox News.

“Our military’s singular purpose is to ‘provide for the common defense’ of our nation. It cannot be turned into a left-wing social experiment. It cannot be used as a cudgel against America itself.”

The report cites several examples of the administration’s stance. One example was Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s first action after being confirmed by the Senate, which included signing a “racism” memorandum. The message directed all service members and Department of Defense civilian employees to conduct a “one-day stand-down” to discuss extremism within their ranks.

This was despite the fact that in a force of more than 2.1 million active and reserve members, there were only 100 such cases of alleged “extremism,” according to data collected by the Biden administration.

“The world is a dangerous place, and the Biden Administration’s insanity is eroding our greatest source of security in it,” said the report, citing the military’s promotion of Marxist critical race theory, sex reassignment procedures, and transgender ideology, as well as the punishment of those who oppose such things.

Another example was that of Bishop Garrison, who currently serves as Austin’s senior adviser on human capital and diversity, equity, and inclusion issues. The report said that Garrison promoted the “1619 Project,” which is based on a falsified history of the United States and part of a revisionist education being taught in some schools across the country.

Another case cited in the report was that of Kelisa Wing, the chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer at the Department of Defense Education Agency.

“Wing also wrote a book to teach white children that they have white privilege and that ‘white privilege hurts a lot of people.’ The book comes with an exercise to help kids understand ‘what parts of my identity have provided me with privilege.’”

How To Erode the World’s Greatest Military, by Victor Davis Hanson

Why the military is falling far short of its recruiting goals. From Victor Davis Hanson at amgreatness.com:

Alienating half the country is not a wise strategy of military recruitment

The U.S. Army has met only 40 percent of its 2022 recruiting goals.

In fact, all branches of the military are facing historic resistance to their current recruiting efforts. If some solution is not found quickly, the armed forces will radically shrink or be forced to lower standards—or both.

Such a crisis occurs importunely as an aggressive Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea believe the Biden Administration and the Pentagon have lost traditional U.S. deterrence.

That pessimistic view abroad unfortunately is now shared by many Americans at home. In 2021, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute conducted its periodic poll of attitudes toward the U.S. military. The result was astonishing. Currently, only 45 percent of Americans polled expressed a great deal of trust in their armed forces. Confidence had dived 25 points since an early 2018 poll.

Military officials cite both the usual and a new array of challenges in finding suitable young soldiers—drug use, gang affiliation, physical and mental incapacities, and the dislocations arising from the COVID pandemic and vaccination mandates. But they are too quiet about why such supposedly longer-term obstacles suddenly coalesced in 2022—as if their own leadership and policies have had no effect in discouraging tens of thousands of young men and women to join them.

Has The Military Lost Middle America? by Victor Davis Hanson

If you think of the military as an animal, then removing the middle class is like removing its spine. From Victor Davis Hanson at zerohedge.com:

Traditionalist and conservative America once was the U.S. military’s greatest defender.

Bipartisan conservatives in Congress ensured generous Pentagon budgets. When generals, active or retired, became controversial, conservative America usually could be counted on to stick with them.

Flyover country supported marquee officers such as Gen. Michael Hayden, Gen. James Mattis, Gen. Barry McCaffrey, Gen. Stanley McChrystal, Gen. David Petraeus and a host of others when the media went after them for alleged unethical conduct, financial improprieties, spats with the Obama administration, or accusations of using undue force or hiding torture.

When Democrats railed in Congress about the “revolving door” of generals and admirals leaving the Pentagon to land lucrative board memberships with corporate defense contractors, Middle America, rightly or wrongly, mostly yawned.

Yet traditional America also assumed its military leaders were largely apolitical and stayed out of politics. Brilliant World War II commanders Curtis LeMay, Douglas MacArthur and George S. Patton did not fare well when they clumsily waded through the minefields of partisan national politics.

No longer.

The Intersectional Empire Takes on the World, by Oliver Williams

It is a proven fact that intersectionality, inclusion, and diversity stop bullets and bombs. From Oliver Williams at unz.com:

When Donald Trump suggested renaming Fort Bragg after Al Sharpton, it was a punchline. Contrary to the former Presidents wishes, ten Army posts named after Confederate generals are to be renamed. Trump’s joke could well be prophetic. To guess what kind of names the powers that be might go for, we can look to the Navy. Military ships have historically been named after warriors and Presidents. Breaking with tradition, the Navy has named a whole class of vessel after civil rights leader John Lewis. Each ship is being named after a civil rights figure. The USNS Harvey Milk, for example, is named after the first openly gay elected official in California (who also happened to be a long time supporter of Jim Jones, leader of a mass suicide cult). Other ships in the John Lewis class include Robert Kennedy; Lucy Stone, a suffragette; Sojourner Truth, an abolitionist; and Earl Warren, a former US Supreme Court justice. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus said it was “important to recognize those who fought in a different way, who fought for the ideals we value as a country.”

John Lewis died in 2020. At his eulogy, Barack Obama dubbed Lewis “a founding father” of a “fuller, fairer, better America”. In that most tumultuous of years, statues of America’s real founding fathers had been pulled from their pedestals. Of the “relentless young people” responsible for widespread rioting, looting, and arson, Obama said, “John, those are your children”. The new fuller fairer America demands new symbols. According to one poll, many liberals would like to replace the stars and stripes with a flag that “better reflects our diversity as a people”. In many ways, that’s already happened: the rainbow ensign flies on military vehicles, on embassy buildings, and every redoubt of American domination. Secretary of State Antony Blinken authorized diplomatic outposts to fly the Pride flag on the same flagpole as the U.S. flag – not just for pride month, but all year round. Blinken also authorized U.S. embassies to fly BLM flags and banners.

The woke purge is coming for the military, by Simon Black

The world will tremble at the woke Conflict Resolution Force. From Simon Black at sovereignman.com:

Mikhail Tukhachevsky was only 42 years old when Joseph Stalin promoted him to the highest possible military rank in the Soviet Union.

As “Marshall of the Soviet Union”, Tukhachevsky had near supreme authority over all Soviet military forces. And he had been personally tasked by Stalin to modernize the military and prepare for war.

But Tukhachevsky’s new authority didn’t last very long. Shortly after assuming his duties as Marshall, he was quietly reassigned to an unimportant post… and subsequently arrested.

The year was 1936. And Tukhachevsky was suspected of plotting with the Germans to overthrow Stalin and implement a military dictatorship.

Tukhachevsky was brutally beaten while in captivity, and he confessed to being a Nazi spy after two days of relentless torture.

He was branded a traitor and executed.

Tukhachevsky wasn’t the only one, either. This was a period in Soviet history called the Great Terror, in which an extremely paranoid Stalin purged the military of anyone who showed any sign of ideological dissent.

The rest of the officers were quick to show Stalin that they were worthy, loyal comrades. Soldiers routinely ratted each other out and put each other on phony trials where a guilty verdict was a foregone conclusion.
