CNN ‘Medical Expert’ & CDC Suggest Americans’ “Freedoms” Be Restricted Until They Are Vaccinated, by Tyler Durden

The experts are disappointed that states are reopening so that they don’t have the prospect of relative freedom to entice people into getting the vaccines. From Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com:

With nearly every state having opened vaccinations to all adults, the CDC on Friday announced the second loosening of certain federal guidelines by declaring that all Americans who are “fully vaccinated” – a status obtained two weeks after the second dose (for Moderna and Pfizer) or the one and only dose (for JNJ) can travel “at low risk to themselves” both with the US and abroad, and won’t need to be tested for COVID before boarding a plane.

However, the CDC advised that they should continue to take precautions like wearing a mask in public, avoiding crowds,  maintaining social distancing and washing one’s hands frequently.

While the press celebrated the advisory as a milestone in the road back to “normalcy”, some wondered whether the CDC got the memo about packed seats on airplanes and the virtually completely reopened Florida that’s attracting tourists from around the country.

While many Americans might not have realized it, the CDC has officially discouraged Americans from traveling – until now.

As more countries prepare to start using vaccine passports (airports have already been demanding proof of negative COVID status since last summer), the CDC said vaccinated Americans will not need a COVID test to travel anywhere, including another country (that is, unless they’re required to do so by authorities in their destination country).

While all this probably sounds promising, there’s a catch: vaccinated travelers still have to get a negative test result before boarding a flight back to the US, where they then must be tested against 3-5 days after returning home. This could create the potential for an explosion of false positives as some have linked to over-magnification on PCR tests used to detect the virus.

‘Neanderthal’ Governors Outscore Biden On The COVID Science, by the Issues and Insights Editorial Board

“Neanderthal” states are getting rid of masks and lockdowns because real life science says they’re useless at best, and are often counterproductive. So who’s ignoring science? From the Issues and Insights Editorial board at issuesinsights.com:

President Joe Biden wasn’t too happy when Texas and Mississippi decided to reopen their economies and liberate their people from statewide mask mandates, calling it “Neanderthal thinking.”

But wait a minute, who’s following the science here, and who isn’t? While Biden is clearly in love with the idea of the government forcing Americans to wear masks and keeping heavy restrictions on businesses, the science is piling up showing that these measures are not very effective, if they are at all.

One Swiss group, for example, found 10 studies challenging the effectiveness of masks. One is a Danish review that compared a control group that followed social distancing guidelines but didn’t wear masks, while another group wore high-quality surgical masks. It found no statistically significant difference between the two groups.

An article in the New England Journal of Medicine, meanwhile, noted that “Focusing on universal masking alone may, paradoxically, lead to more transmission of COVID-19 if it diverts attention from implementing more fundamental infection-control measures.”

The Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine noted last July that “despite two decades of pandemic preparedness, there is considerable uncertainty as to the value of wearing masks.”

Then there’s the fact, as we noted in this space back in November, that states experiencing the biggest spikes in COVID cases last fall already had statewide mask mandates in place. The Heritage Foundation drilled down the county level and found that “97 of the 100 counties with the most confirmed cases had either a county-level mask mandate, a state-level mandate, or both.”

Neanderthals Having Fun Night Out While Civilized People Hide In Caves

From  The Babylon Bee:

DALLAS, TX—Only hours after Governor Greg Abbott’s decision to lift the Texas mask mandate, thousands of Neanderthals descended on downtown Dallas for a fun night of eating, drinking, and dancing. Meanwhile, thousands of civilized, progressive Texans hid in dark caves to protect themselves from coronavirus.

“Oog like steak! Oog like beer! Oog like loud music at concert!” said Oog, a Neanderthal. “Oog dance and sing with best friends! Oog happy!”

“This is so reckless and irresponsible,” said local progressive Florian Von Cinnamon from beneath his 7 masks as he huddled in a damp cave. “Neanderthal thinking will literally kill us all. I’m literally shaking right now– because I’m cold. How do you make fire again?”

Experts warn that if things continue, the state may be overrun by happy Neanderthals as all the civilized people move back to California.

16 States Are Now Following The Science, by Jordan Schachtel

A number of Republican governors are now lifting lockdown and mask mandates they never should have imposed. From Jordan Schachtel at aier.org:

It took an entire year, but lockdowns and mask mandates are officially incredibly unpopular with half of the country, to the point that governors are rapidly making sweeping changes to their year-long COVID-19 policies.

Jumping onto the coattails of pro-individual freedom leaders like governors Ron DeSantis (R-Florida) and Kristi Noem (R-SD), the governors of Mississippi and Texas decided Tuesday to announce an end to business restrictions and statewide mask mandates.

Both Tate Reeves (R-MS) and Greg Abbott (R-TX), who had long taken a nanny state approach to the COVID-19 crisis, acted almost simultaneously to announce the end of statewide restrictions.
