Apple Sued to Force it to Remove Telegram from its App Store

An organization called the Coalition for a Safer Web is suing Apple to try to force the company to remove the messaging app Telegram from its app store.

The lawsuit claims Apple is failing to enforce its terms of service because Telegram “allows” (read: doesn’t censor) “extremist” content.

Congressman Begs Goldman Sachs to Stay in New York City

News recently broke that Goldman Sachs may move its asset management division, with about $8 billion in annual revenue, from New York City to Florida.

In response, during an interview on CNBC, US Congressman from New York Tom Suozzi begged Goldman Sachs to not leave New York.

“First of all, let’s say to Goldman Sachs, please don’t leave us. We’re in a desperate time in New York right now and we need you, you’re important to us. We want you to stay.”

But Suozzi doesn’t think New York’s high taxes, destructive COVID lockdowns, and financial mismanagement are to blame for the exodus.

Instead, he blames the 2017 federal tax cuts, specifically the cap on SALT deductions which allowed state and local taxes to be deducted from federal taxes owed.

And in true Bolshevik politician fashion, Suozzi thinks rage and ridicule is the only way to solve the problem.

Suozzi said, “Anyone who contributes money to politicians who don’t support the reinstatement of the SALT cap, we’re going to start publishing their names.”

Yes, I’m sure creating an enemies list will encourage more profitable companies and wealthy individuals to stay in NewYork.

Inquisition Targets White Women for Their WrongThink

The magazine Teen Vogue (yes, I’m serious) recently published a nasty rebuke of people who voted for the current president. And they specifically called out white women:

“White women have to answer for backing the Republican nominee yet again.”

Bear in mind, Teen Vogue is a magazine that primarily caters to children. And what a fantastic lesson for young people! Let’s teach kids to hate other people who have ideological differences!

Teen Vogue, of course, is the same magazine that recently published an in-depth (no pun intended) anal sex guide for its teenage audience. And when parents complained, the publisher accused them of being ‘homophobes’.

Clearly Teen Vogue possesses both the journalistic professionalism and moral authority to preach ideological hate to young people.

Children’s Author Cancels Himself Over “Racially Insensitive” Illustration

A children’s author has asked people not to buy his first book, because of a racially insensitive illustration he was not aware of until the book went on sale.

The offensive image which the author said “made me sick,” was a Japanese girl dressed in a kimono, with her hair in a bun.

The Horror!!!!!

School Threatens to Arrest 12 Year Old Over Three Missed Zoom Classes

A California school sent a letter threatening to arrest and prosecute a 12 year old boy who missed 90 minutes of online virtual classes.

The letter says the middle-schooler is considered truant if he misses more than a half hour of any given class.

When the boy’s father complained about the threat to his son (who happens to be an excellent student and makes straight A’s), the school principal said his hands were tied.

California’s laws regarding truancy force schools to send the warning letter, and funnel kids into the state’s prison pipeline.

Mother Faces Prison for Keeping Kids Home From School

A mother of two in the UK has a great reason to keep her kids home from school.

She is especially at risk of complications if she contracts COVID-19 due to diabetes, asthma, and an underactive thyroid. According to these conditions, the UK’s socialized health system, the NHS, classifies her as clinically vulnerable.

But that doesn’t matter to the local education welfare officer, who sent a letter to the mom demanding her children return to school, or she will face up to three months in prison and a £2,500 fine.

Today, we are starting with some stories that are not amusing, but simply tragic.

Unborn baby dies due to absurd Covid lockdown rules

This one highlights the sad reality of crushing people’s basic rights.

An Australian woman was in childbirth a few weeks ago when it became clear she needed highly specialized medical care.

Unfortunately her small town of Ballina, located in the Australian state of New South Wales, did not have sufficient medical care options to treat her pregnancy complications.

Ballina is very close to the border of the neighboring state of Queensland, where two much larger cities– Gold Coast, and Brisbane– are fairly close by.

And prior to Covid, the woman would have simply been quickly transported to one of those two cities in the neighboring state for a multitude of top quality medical options.

But now Australians are no longer able to travel across their own state lines without special permission from the government.

The woman was told that she would have to undergo a 14-day quarantine, simply for crossing the state line, before she could access medical care in Queensland. Incredible.

This was obviously unacceptable. So her next best option was to fly to Syndey (which is at the opposite end of New South Wales, a state that’s bigger than Texas). Except that the next flight was SIXTEEN HOURS later.

Needless to say, she didn’t receive the care she needed in time, and one of her twin babies died as a result of the travel restrictions.

They say all the lockdowns are worth it if it saves just one life.

What about the lives the lockdowns take?

Germany will pay you to do nothing, but force you to walk your dog, by Simon Black

The old joke about the 1990s TV show Seinfeld was that it was a show about nothing. Now it looks like Germany wants to be an economy about nothing.

German University paying scholarships to do nothing

A German university is looking for people it can pay to do nothing. Literally. They want to pay people to refrain from activities.

Anyone can submit proposals on what they pledge to stop doing, for how long, and why.

The idea is to explore how NOT doing certain activities impacts your life, and the lives of others. So for example, if you pledge to stop shopping for three weeks, they would study how NOT shopping would cut fuel consumption, plastic waste, etc.

Right now it’s just a pilot program that will only select a handful of people. But if the results prove that doing nothing promotes environmental and social justice, we’re already expecting some much bigger funding for the next round.

Just imagine how much better the world would be if we valued laziness and sloth! And this trend won’t end with Covid until we recognize that sitting at home and doing nothing is brave and heroic.

Germany to test universal basic income

Speaking of doing nothing, “Universal Basic Income” is an idea that has caught fire with the Bolsheviks.

The idea is that people should be paid just for existing. We all just get to collect money that the central bank conjures out of thin air.

Obviously some people think this will cause laziness, and rob people of achieving their full potential. But others insist it is the best way to relieve poverty and inspire creativity.

So to test the idea, Germany will pay 120 ‘volunteers’ €1,200 ($1,400) a month for three years to see what happens.

It’s almost like Western civilization is rejecting the idea that actual work has to be done to produce the food, clothing, and shelter humans need to survive.

Motorcyclist dies in crash. Must be COVID. By Simon Black

Simon Black’s weekly chronicle of idiocy and absurdity. From Black at sovereignman.com:

Art museum curator cancelled for not abandoning “white male artists”

Gary Garrels was the Senior Curator of Painting and Sculpture at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

After giving a presentation on the importance of diversity in art, he ended by saying, “don’t worry, we will continue to collect white male artists.”

His word choice may be curious, but his entire point was that diversity should include everyone… and that means white, male artists too.

He had mentioned at another point that specifically excluding white artists would be reverse discrimination.

But this egregious sin was enough to elicit a Change.org petition from his co-workers calling for his ouster.

The petition claimed that Gary may be “deliberately racist.” It also claimed his use of the term “reverse discrimination” is “white supremacist and racist language.”

Gary bowed to the mob, and resigned.

Somehow, this petition did not violate Change.org’s policy against using petitions to bully.

Simon Black has connected some doozies this week. From Black at sovereignman.com:

Jail time in Colorado town for not wearing a mask

Englewood, Colorado, a major suburb of Denver, has made it a crime to leave your home without wearing a mask.

And ‘crime’ means crime. They’re not talking about a fine or slap on the wrist.

Anyone over six years old must wear a mask at all times, anywhere in public or in private businesses. And the punishment for breaking the law is up to a year in jail.

By comparison, Colorado sentencing guidelines provide similar penalties for felonies like illegal weapons possession, forgery, theft, and failing to register as a sex offender.

For authoritarians, any silly little law they can think of comes with a year in prison.

It’s like an automatic stamp, new law, BOOM– year in prison.

Just your weekly reminder that there is no crime so trivial that the government won’t throw you in a cage over.

Leaving tire marks on the road is now a hate crime

Canadian police are searching for a suspect in a Ford Mustang accused of a “gesture of hate.”

The car peeled out and left tire marks on a crosswalk.

But this wasn’t just any crosswalk. This was a gay pride rainbow crosswalk.

Another 8-year old ‘criminal mastermind’ arrested, by Simon Black

Children arrested, a stock offering for bankrupt Hertz, and the US national debt are among this week’s absurdities. From Simon Black at sovereignman.com:

Eight year old boy arrested for asking if he could buy candy with fake money

At a parade in Switzerland, fake money was thrown around for children to collect.

The obviously fake cash is called “spirit money.” Featuring Chinese symbols, it is meant as an offering to the dead so they can prosper in the afterlife.

An eight year old Swiss boy later asked a shop clerk if he could use the play money to buy candy. To be clear, the kid did not try to trick the shopkeeper, or pass off the money as real.

A normal person would laugh, and politely explain that only central banks are allowed to use fake money.

Instead, this shopkeeper opted to call the police.

Again, a reasonable officer could have stopped it all there.

Instead, the boy and his ten year old brother were taken to the police station. Police took their mugshots, but did not charge them with a crime.

Police did however search the family’s home, where police found some other play money.

These cops essentially confiscated Monopoly money, as if they were busting a counterfeiting operation.

College newspaper will no longer report “triggering” news

Northwestern is one of the finest universities in the world and is particularly renowned for its journalism school.

The Daily Northwestern student paper, staffed by these aspiring journalists, recently apologized for covering a “traumatic” event on campus.

The traumatic event in question was a speech by former Trump official Jeff Sessions.

Unsurprisingly, some students protested the ex-Attorney General’s speech, and the newspaper covered the protest. But the paper said they inadvertently “retraumatized” these protesters in reporting the story.
