Djokovic Declared US Open Champion By Default After All The Other Players Die Of Heart Attacks

From The Babylon Bee:

NEW YORK CITY, NY — Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has been declared the champion of the 2022 US Open, as all the other contestants have died suddenly of mysterious heart attacks. US Open Chair Patrick Galbraith made the announcement this morning as the last player was carted away in an ambulance.

“Welp, I guess that just leaves the anti-vax guy, since he’s the only tennis player still alive,” said Galbraith to reporters. “Novak Djokovic is the 2022 winner of the US Open!”

This year’s tournament had been eventful, with matches frequently being interrupted by sudden trips to the emergency room and random deaths due to heart inflammation and massive blood clots. According to sources, the controversial determination was made after the only two remaining contestants, Matteo Berrettini and Casper Ruud, both clutched their chests in their second match and fell over.

“We can’t begin to explain why these healthy young athletes are dying, but we believe it must have something to do with either global warming or racism,” said Galbraith. “We would like to congratulate Djokovic for the incredible win he achieved by just surviving this mysterious plague.”

Unfortunately, Djokovic was not allowed in the award ceremony to receive his trophy due to his unvaccinated status.

Preventing ‘Unvaxxed’ Novak Djokovic From Playing The U.S. Open Is Outrageous, by Quoth the Raven

That he stuck to his guns on vaccines is more important than all his championships and that he may be tennis’s greatest player ever. From Quoth the Raven at quoththeraven.substack.com:

But the good thing for Novak is that no matter what happens, he is going to be looked at as even more of a leader for holding his ground on not getting the jab.

Novak Djokovic, a 21-time Grand Slam champion, is being robbed of the opportunity to further his legacy in the world of tennis, simply because he isn’t vaccinated. He announced on Twitter yesterday that he would not be able to travel to the U.S. for the U.S. Open due to travel restrictions mandating vaccination for entering the country.

Keeping Djokovic off the court more than 2 years after the pandemic’s inception makes absolutely zero sense, especially because, as I profiled in a piece just days ago, the CDC has now changed its guidelines regarding people who have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid.

Specifically, the CDC dropped quarantine and social distancing requirements for people who have come in “close contact with an infected person.”

The changes, which come more than 2 1/2 years after the start of the pandemic, are driven by a recognition that an estimated 95% of Americans 16 and older have acquired some level of immunity, either from being vaccinated or infected, agency officials said.”

Greta Massetti, a CDC epidemiologist came right out and said it two weeks ago:

“We know that Covid-19 is here to stay. High levels of population immunity due to vaccination and previous infection, and the many tools that we have available to protect people from severe illness and death, have put us in a different place.”

Preventing one of the game’s true legends from the potential to earn another Grand Slam title is as arrogant as it is outrageous. Not only is Djokovic arguably in the best shape of almost anybody in the world, but the CDC has openly admitted that more than 95% of people have some level of immunity.

The Monumental Sacrifice of Novak Djokovic, by Stacey Rudin

Novak Djokovic stood on principle, sacrificing a chance to write himself into tennis’s record book. From Stacey Rudin at brownstone.org:

Defending Australian Open Champion Novak Djokovic was deported from Australia, the day before commencement of 2022 tournament play. He entered the country on a visa including a medical exemption based on recent Covid infection. Due to public outry over “special treatment,” his visa was revoked upon arrival in the country, only to be reinstated by a court. It was later revoked by an immigration minister, whose decision was upheld by another court, sending Djokovic packing — potentially for three years.

This draconian act puts Djokovic at a serious disadvantage in his Grand Slam rivalry with Rafael Nadal, who is competing in Australia this year after vocally supporting vaccines. Both champions, along with Roger Federer, currently hold 20 Grand Slam titles. Djokovic was favored to be the first to reach 21, but his decision to remain unvaccinated leaves Nadal alone with that opportunity for now. (Federer is out recovering from surgery.)

Djokovic was technically deported for not being vaccinated, but the decision lacks even a superficial “health and safety” justification. Djokovic already had Covid twice, once in early 2020 and again in December 2021. At the time of his deportation, he had been in Australia for ten days, and tested negative. He’s as healthy as a human being can be — you don’t earn “GOAT’ status in the difficult sport of tennis any other way.

Further proof that Djokovic poses no disease threat to anyone is the fact that this tournament was safely played in January 2021, before vaccines were available for any player or guest. Even if Djokovic had taken the vaccine, he’d be no “safer” in terms of his ability to transmit the virus, as the 100,000 daily cases in highly-vaccinated Australia attest.

Australian Government Deports Unvaccinated Tennis Player Novak Djokovic Citing His Threat to Social Cohesion, by Sundance

It’s never about health and safety, it’s always about power and control. From Sundance at theconservativetreehouse.com:

The Australian Open is scheduled to begin January 17th in Melbourne, the epicenter of Australia’s totalitarian COVID mandates.  Australia granted unvaccinated tennis superstar Novak Djokovic a visa to compete.  Australian border officials then attempted to block his entry and deport him, because he was unvaccinated.  Novak Djokovic took the issue to the federal court in Australia, and won his legal case against the Australian government. The government then decided unilaterally to revoke his visa on immigration grounds.  Djokovic appealed.

The world #1 ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic lost his appeal today to remain in Australia and play the Australian Open tournament.   He was immediately escorted to the airport and kicked out.

The government did not hide their reasoning, as immigration minister Alex Hawke said getting Djokovic out of the country was “fundamental to safe-guarding Australia’s social cohesion which continues to strengthen despite the pandemic.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison echoed the Hawke sentiment saying forcing Novak Djokovic out of the country quickly was a matter of “public interest“, because his continued presence would destabilize the government.   Morrison further stated, “Australians have made many sacrifices during this pandemic, and they rightly expect the result of those sacrifices to be protected,” allowing an unvaccinated person to enter Australia was a threat to the social fabric that has bowed to the controls and threats of government vaccination mandates.

Hating on Novak has become a national sport, by James Macpherson

Novak Djokovic is the world’s best male tennis player. He has also decided to forego Covid vaccinations. Having had the disease he has the best kind of antibodies, natural rather than vaccines ones, and so poses no transmission risk to anyone. Nevertheless, totalitarian Australia is in a lather that he’s being allowed to play in the Australian Open tennis tournament. From James Macpherson at spectator.com.au:

The whole country is hating on Novak Djokovic right now because he had the courage to do what most of us did not – stand up for himself.

Novak’s principled stance has only served to highlight the fact that millions of Australians have allowed themselves to be abused for the past two years. And no one wants to admit that.

It is far easier to demonise a Serbian millionaire who took a stand than it is to agree that we have been bullied into submission by politicians and health bureaucrats.

How else to explain the unhinged reaction to the world Number One tennis player being allowed to defend his Australian Open title? And how else to understand the glee with which his subsequent visa rejection was greeted?

When news broke earlier this week that Novak was going to be allowed to play in Australia, a Victorian journalist tweeted: ‘If we still have crowds at the Australian Open by the time it starts, it’s the duty of every Australian to boo Novak relentlessly between sets. Shit is absolutely f***ed.’

Urging 14,000 people under the Rod Laver Arena roof to exhale in unison to protest an airborne virus is the kind of dumb you can only be when you’re smack bang in the middle of a rabid mob.

Not to be outdone, a prominent Melbourne journalist tweeted that the Australian Open was ‘a tournament fans were scared to come to in the first place and won’t want to attend now’.

They Said That? 2/1/15

Today true champions in a real sport won major championships, and they had nothing to do with football. Novak Djokovic won his fifth Australian Open in four sets after falling to the court, exhausted, in the second and third sets, defeating Andy Murray. It was his eighth Grand Slam victory, which puts him in the same league as Andre Agassi, Jimmy Connors, and Ivan Lendl, and he’s right in his prime at 27 years old.  Serena Williams won her sixth Australian Open, defeating Maria Sharapova, in two sets. She had her own physical problems; she threw up and had a hacking cough from a lingering cold. It was her 19th Grand Slam, putting her second behind Steffi Graf’s 22. Tennis players don’t get relief from the bench, their matches can last three or four hours, with only short breaks, and they’re going full blast the entire time. Few football players could survive that kind of grueling challenge, certainly not the overweight slabs on the lines.

Djokovic is fluent in four languages, a fierce competitor, and a class act in the Roger Federer mold on the court and off. He’s never deflated tennis balls, beat up a woman, or been charged with even a misdemeanor, much less a felony. From Djokovic:

You could see that I had a crisis end of the second, beginning of the third. I just felt very exhausted and I needed some time to regroup and recharge and get back on track. I try never to give up. Even though I went through that [exhausted] moment, I believed that I’m going to get that necessary strength. I’m going to have to earn it, and that’s what I did. I started hitting the ball more, covering the court better, shortening the points, and allowed myself to come back to the match.

From Ms. Williams, still going strong at 33 years old:

I’m so honored to be here and to hold this 19th trophy, I didn’t think it would happen this fast, to be honest, but it feels really good.”

I would love to get to 22. I mean, 19 was very difficult to get to. But I have to get to 20 first, and then I have to get to 21. It will be a very big task.”

I had a really bad cough, I ended up throwing up, actually. I’ve never done that before. I guess there’s a first time for anything. I think in a way that just helped me — I felt better after that.”

Congratulations Mr. Djokovic and Ms. William for superb Australian Open victories. And who won that overhyped football game? SLL officially doesn’t give a s**t.
