WHO Holds Secret Talks With Tech Giants To Stop Spread of Coronavirus “Misinformation”, by Paul Joseph Watson

“Misinformation” is anything that contradicts WHO and the Chinese government’s party line. From Paul Joseph Watson at summit.news:

Despite the fact that some things labeled “misinformation” turned out to be true.

The World Health Organization has held talks with tech giants to stop the spread of coronavirus “misinformation,” despite the fact that some things once labeled “misinformation” have since turned out to be true.

The meeting was organized by the WHO but hosted by Facebook at its Menlo Park campus in California. Attendees included representatives from Amazon, Twilio, Dropbox, Google, Verizon, Salesforce, Twitter, YouTube, Airbnb, Kinsa and Mapbox.

According to the WHO’s Andy Pattison, an “infodemic” of misinformation has accompanied the coronavirus outbreak and big tech giants need to respond by censoring “fake news” content.

Both Facebook and Twitter already announced that they would remove content deemed to be misinformation regarding the virus, a dangerous new lurch to mass censorship given that what is considered “misinformation” is totally subjective and beholden to partisan bias.

Why You Shouldn’t Borrow Too Much Money, China Edition, by John Rubino

China’s massive debt may leave it unable to adequately respond to crises, like perhaps a deadly virus and consequent economic and social upheaval. From John Rubino at dollarcollapse.com:

When the US housing bubble burst in 2007, most observers were focused on the threat to Wall Street banks and their massive derivatives books. This was a legitimate fear, since the worst case scenarios involved the death of Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan Chase, with all the stock market carnage that that implied.

But for China the stakes were a lot higher — picture half a billion people taking to the streets and demanding an end to a government whose only claim to legitimacy was its ability to provide millions of ever-more-lucrative jobs.

So while the US was bailing out every bank in sight with lower interest rates and loan guarantees, China upped the ante by ordering pretty much every sector if its economy to start building things with borrowed money. The result was the biggest infrastructure binge in history, in which roads, bridges, airports, and — hey, why not — entire new cities sprang up in just a few years, providing jobs for millions of would-be rioters and a torrent of cash flow for foreign suppliers of iron ore, copper, cement, steel, lumber, and every other industrial commodity you can name.

No One Gets Out of Here Alive (Part Two), by Jim Quinn

Part two of Jim Quinn’s analysis of where we are in relation to unfolding Fourth Turning. From Quinn at theburningplatform.com:

In Part One of this article I exposed the numerous false narratives being peddled to the masses, as this Fourth Turning is entering the intense phase headed towards an unknown climax.

Image result for false narrative

I’ve been expecting the next shoe to fall in this Fourth Turning for years, but the financial elite have pulled the debt levers to keep the Ponzi scheme alive far longer than a reasonable person would expect. We are only six weeks into 2020 and it seems like a year’s worth of major events have already occurred. The year started with the assassination of Qasem Soleimani in Iraq.

For the next week the world was awash in rhetoric about World War III and possible revolution in Iran. Accusations of Trump using the Wag the Dog method to deflect the negative press from the impeachment hearings were rampant among the half of the country that despises Trump. Soleimani was lauded as a hero by the left and a terrorist by the right. Now, the entire episode seems like ancient history, as more interesting squirrels have arisen for the propaganda media to chase.

The entire month of January was occupied by the ongoing coup/impeachment against Donald Trump. Schiff, Nadler and Pelosi doing their best impression of the three stooges, conducted a laughable prosecution in the House, revealing this was nothing more than a desperate attempt to avoid losing to Trump in a November landslide. The predictable trial in the Senate resulted in an acquittal and Trump’s popularity soaring to all-time highs, as independents realized the Democrats misused the power of impeachment for purely political purposes. Trump’s SOTU address infuriated Pelosi to such an extent it provoked her into acting like a petulant child, tearing up the speech. Future campaign ads wrote themselves.

Coronavirus Perspective From Inside China, by Austrian Peter

Even in broken English the message from China is clear: the coronavirus situation is serious and so far not contained, and the Chinese government is lying through its teeth. From Austrian Peter via MG at theburningplatform.com:

From Austrian Peter via MG

I have a direct reader contact in China – he keeps me informed and is well connected. This is what he wrote on 11 Feb 2020 – straight from the horses mouth, so to speak, word for word – forgive broken English – he does very well and is to remain anonymous for obvious reasons – for TBPers only:

“Dear Peter,

I should write the email earlier if only was not exhausted observing and thinking on the coronavirus epidemic over past weeks. I decide to rest and turn to more urgent and meaningful issues in my life afterwards. You have enough information and comments on the worldwide impact epidemic, from many main stream and other media, social media and blogs, from various aspects. I’ll try to provide something hardly found on internet in English.

I’m healthy and still living in rural northern china, far from Hubei Province, where the nightmare come true, most of elites from Chinese medical system and military department & the regime’s political authority have been put into prevent more deaths.

Bioweapons are being researched for long in great powers and would be applied in tragic wars years later, with chemical weapons and miniature nuclear weapons. But I’ve never expected it so soon and near. News about unknown pneumonia in Wuhan first appeared on Chinese social media and caught my attention on the last days of 2019.

Smoking Gun? Chinese Scientist Finds “Killer Coronavirus Probably Originated From A Laboratory In Wuhan”, by Tyler Durden

Zero Hedge has been one of the main proponents of the hypothesis that the Wujan coronavirus is man-made. It got kicked off Twitter as a result. From Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com:

The uncertainty and the debate over the origins of the coronavirus pandemic are growing with each passing day.

One week after the White House asked scientists to finally investigate whether the Covid-19 virus was bio-engineered (i.e., created in a lab), none other than CNBC jumped on the bandwagon and echoing a similar question by Senator Tom Cotton – and of course, Zero Hedge – said “maybe the coronavirus was man made.”

All this is taking place as the mainstream media, whose purpose is similar to that of Beijing in minimizing public concerns and panic even if it means fabricating reality, presses on with the popular theory that the virus emerged from the Huanan seafood market in Wuhan (we recently showed why this appears very unlikely) while branding anyone who suggests that the coronavirus might have originated as a bioweapon developed in a secretive Wuhan lab as deranged conspiracy theorist  (a propaganda approach first popularized in the 1960s by the CIA to discredit controversial views).

Indeed, just today, the FT reported that Trevor Bedford, of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, “rubbished stories circulating on social media that Covid-19 was created at Wuhan Institute of Virology or elsewhere in China.” Bedford is of course entitled to his opinion, which was only reinforced by the lack of any dissenting views from the scientific community, especially in “ground zero”, China.

Coronavirus: Media and Politicians Take Anti-China Fear Mongering to New Levels, by Alan Macleod

There’s a surplus of fear and scare stories, much of it with a political ax to grind, concerning the coronavirus. I remain resolutely committed to acknowledging my ignorance, while waiting and seeing how the story develops and what the scientists most closely involved with investigating the coronavirus have to say about it. I’ll continue posting stories from a variety of viewpoints. From Alan Macleod at mintpressnews.com:

Despite praise from the World Health Organization for its handling of the coronavirus, China has been derided by Western media and politicians alike over nearly every aspect of its response.

Starting in Wuhan in December, the coronavirus outbreak has spread across China, infecting around 64,000 people and worrying the rest of the world. Fueling the panic, media have been printing alarmist scare stories and politicians peddling false information.

One prominent example of this is Arkansas senator Tom Cotton, who claimed that the virus was actually developed by the Chinese government. Wuhan, he stated, “has China’s only biosafety level-four super laboratory that works with the world’s most deadly pathogens to include, yes, coronavirus.” He also claimed that the outbreak is “worse than Chernobyl,” referring to the 1986 nuclear meltdown in Ukraine. “The Wuhan coronavirus is a catastrophe on the scale of Chernobyl for China, only Chernobyl was localized. The coronavirus is spreading worldwide,” he said, adding that in one day “confirmed cases increased in China by 30 percent. The true numbers are likely much higher.”

Cotton’s remarks were condemned as unhelpful, at best, and dangerously alarmist fake news, at worse by health authorities. Experts have had to take time off from fighting the virus to debunk his super laboratory conspiracy theories. On the supposed huge increase in cases, Dr. Michael Ryan, the head of the World Health Organization’s (W.H.O.) health emergencies program, said there was a far more mundane explanation for the change in numbers; “This increase that you’ve all seen in the last 24 hours is largely down to a change in how the cases are being reported,” he told media.

Impure Thoughts, by James Howard Kunstler

What happens to the world economy and financial markets if the Wuhan coronavirus turns into a global disaster? From James Howard Kunstler at kunstler.com:

What if the Corona virus turns out to be a genuine pandemic with legs, not some punk-ass, flash-in-the-pan bug like SARS… and infects hundreds of millions around the world…? And what if it happens to go logarithmic in the USA, as in China now…? And what if takes a few months, or half a year, to do that…? And what if Americans will not get on airplanes when that happens…? Or gather together in large numbers…? Or if government imposes quarantines …? Will the parties hold their nominating conventions? Might the November election have to be postponed?

Just sayin’… since nobody else seems to be talking about it. A few months ago, nobody was thinking about a disease that would virtually lock-down China’s economy, either… and now here we are. Speaking of which, that lock-down of China’s economy is already generating serious damage to global GDP, after only a few weeks. But nothing shows our detachment from reality like the recent surge in financial market indexes while the Chinese economy was busy shutting down. In particular, one must wonder: What supports the global daisy-chain of debt obligations while all this is going on?

The Lessons We Have Learned From The Coronavirus So Far… by Brandon Smith

In a nutshell: expect the worse when it comes to governments and their string pullers. From Brandon Smith at alt-market.com:

Every disaster contains a lesson or a message that needs to be examined. Every tragedy, no matter how terrible, should be absorbed into the public consciousness and adopted as a cautionary tale; a part of our mythos. These events should not be cast into the memory hole to make life less stressful, they need to be taken seriously. Otherwise, the damage done and the lives lost are all for nothing.

Refusing to examine the dark side of life and its dangers has become a staple of our society, to the point that it has given birth to a kind of religious cult. Naive optimism has become a virtue, a misplaced form of faith that encourages people to remain oblivious in the face of adversity. And the more precarious our system becomes, the more these people see unicorns and rainbows. It is truly bizarre.

Some of us understand the mechanics of our economic, political and social machine and recognize that they are broken. The system cannot be fixed because it has been corrupted by people with evil intent (globalists); it is designed to fail. The agenda? To crash almost everything and then replace it with a centralized behemoth, a global empire. The intent is to force the masses to accept this “new world order” using a false choice – We can have chaos and death, or “order” through total Orwellian control. Peace, sovereignty and freedom are not offered as choices.

Our “Come to Mao” Reckoning and the Next Cultural Revolution, by Charles Hugh Smith

The Chinese elite are placing personal profit over public health, and don’t think that average Chinese aren’t aware of it. Someday they may do something about it. From Charles Hugh Smith at oftwominds.com:

Only fools are blind to the potential for this uprising to extend to Apple and the rest of Corporate America’s greedy exploiters who’ve been delighted to profit from the protection of the CCP.

Let’s start our “Come to Mao” reckoning with the obvious:

To the U.S. stock market:

The coronavirus ravaging China doesn’t matter.

China doesn’t matter.

1,500 deaths don’t matter, 5,000 deaths don’t matter, 50,000 deaths don’t matter, 500,000 deaths don’t matter.

10,000 coronavirus cases don’t matter,100,000 cases don’t matter, 1,000,000 cases don’t matter.

All that matters is that exploited Chinese workers get back to assembling iPhones for Apple and all the landfill economy stuff that generates billions in profits for Amazon and the rest of Corporate America.

Nothing else matters. Even coronavirus cases and deaths outside China don’t matter. All that matters is that Apple and the rest of Corporate America continue reaping billions in profits off exploited workforces.

Like every other venal, exploitive Empire in history, Apple relies on rapacious, ruthless local elites to enforce its exploitation–in this case, Foxconn and the Communist Party elites who’ve gorged at the Apple/Foxconn trough. Thus Apple claims that when Foxconn re-opens production is up to Foxconn while Apple execs hound Foxconn to start production no matter how many workers might become ill and die.

Sudden Militarization Of Wuhan’s P4 Lab Raises New Questions About The Origin Of The Deadly Covid-19 Virus, by Tyler Durden

Is the coronavirus the result of a Chinese medical experiment gone wrong? We may never know for sure, but there is evidence that suggests that it might be. From Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com:

The reported militarization of Wuhan’s P4 Lab has raised new questions about the origin of the Covid-19 virus and the apparent cover-up that has occurred since it was first made public.

Following the removal of the most senior health officials in Wuhan yesterday, Chinese State Media has just reported that Chen Wei, China’s chief biochemical weapon defense expert, is now to be stationed in Wuhan to lead the efforts to overcome the deadly, pneumonia-like pathogen.

According to the PLA Daily report, Chen Wei holds the rank of major general, and along with reports that Chinese troops have started to “assist”, it strongly suggests that the PLA has taken control of the situation.
