How does any entity become the speech police in the land of the First Amendment? From Robby Soave at reason.com:
Anthony Fauci, the federal government’s most prominent authority on COVID-19, had his final White House press conference two days before Thanksgiving 2022. The event served as a send-off for the longserving director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, who was finally stepping down after nearly four decades on the job.
Read the emails: Inside the Facebook Files: Emails Reveal the CDC’s Role in Silencing COVID-19 Dissent
Ashish Jha, the Biden administration’s coronavirus response coordinator, hailed Fauci as “the most important, consequential public servant in the United States in the last half century.” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre described him as a near-constant “source of information and facts” for all Americans throughout the pandemic.
Indeed, the U.S. public’s understanding of COVID-19—its virality, how to prevent its spread, and even where it comes from—was largely controlled by Fauci and bureaucrats like him, to a greater degree than most people realize. The federal government shaped the rules of online discussion in unprecedented and unnerving ways.
This has become much more obvious over the past few months, following Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter. Musk granted several independent journalists access to internal messages between the government and the platform’s moderators, which demonstrate concerted efforts by various federal agencies—including the FBI, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and even the White House—to convince Twitter to restrict speech. These disclosures, which have become known as the Twitter Files, are eye-opening.

Consider one fact: Richard Nixon’s vice president after Spiro Agnew resigned was Gerald Ford, who just happened to be a member of the Warren Commission. From the 2nd Smartest Guy in the World at 2ndsmartestguyintheworld.substack.com:
The 2020 stolen election installed a senile diaper soiling ice cream eating pedo criminal puppet to both demoralize and further destroy America.
George H. W. Bush was the former CIA director that was installed as president, who in turn selected his replacements in CIA drug runner Bill Clinton, his idiot son George W. Bush, and the Deep State’s pièce de résistance in Manchurian Candidate and CIA creation Barack Hussein Obama.
Richard Nixon remains to this very day the most popular president in American history. He was elected by a true landslide. From the very beginning of his presidency, Nixon was very much against the Deep State. He was, for all intents and purposes, the antithesis of a Joe Biden. Some recent research points to the fact that Nixon wanted to share advanced (off-world) technology that would have given the world free energy, and his détente with China as well as his mistrust of the CIA were enough reason for the Deep State to utterly destroy him. Which is why the Uniparty of Nixon’s time forced upon his campaign a lifelong bureaucrat and swamp creature in Gerald Ford to be his vice president: it was the ultimate insurance policy in case Nixon had become too unruly. And when Nixon did in fact become his own man, the Deep State contingency plan went into full effect: the CIA-handled Mockingbird MSM began to spin stories of the Watergate scandal all while conveniently leaving out the fact that four members of the break-in team were on the CIA payroll, and that Nixon was completely unaware of the operation. When the Deep State negotiated Nixon’s resignation, with Nixon leveraging his safety by reminding his enemies that he knew who murdered JFK, the first unelected president of the United States was conveniently installed.

The major financial institutions are not private in any sense, they are creatures of government. As such, they must be subject to the same restrictions on political discrimination that the government is. From Dr. Joseph Sansone at josephsansone.substack.com:
First published in 1994, a perennial best seller, The Creature From Jekyll Island has changed the course of history. At first, only relevant among a small cadre on the political right in the 1990s and early 2000s, the ideas and information of this book have rippled out to the mainstream. This is largely due to Ron Paul’s 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns. In these campaigns Dr. Paul broke a political taboo and spoke about monetary policy and the fraudulent system of The Federal Reserve. Most people never heard of the inflation tax before Paul’s presidential campaigns. (Note: Paul advocated for sound money since the early 70s)
This resulted in a gradual political censorship of Dr. Paul’s campaign and although he had a tremendous impact on thought in the Republican Party, his campaign was marginalized and cancelled to a great degree. This was done by an orchestrated media censorship, deliberate marginalization in allotted time in debates, and eventually exclusion from debates, and shadow banning on search engines. These tactics were used to cancel Patrick Buchanan’s 2000 presidential campaign to an even greater degree, because he left the GOP and ran as the Reform Party candidate. The cancellation was so bad that by the time the election came about most people didn’t know he was still in the campaign.

Count Pfizer as yet another entity that had Twitter in its back pocket. From Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com:
Today’s Twitter Files drop contains several notable pieces of evidence.
First, that lobbyists for the pharmaceutical industry launched a ‘massive lobbying blitz to crush any effort to share patents/IP for new covid-related medicine,” according to The Intercept‘s Lee Fang. As part of this effort, lobbying group BIO “wrote to the newly elected Biden admin, demanding the U.S. gov sanction any country attempting to violate patent rights and create generic low cost covid medicine or vaccines.”
Of note, Pfizer and BioNTech raked in $37 billion in revenue in 2021 alone from the COVID-19 vaccine, while Moderna made $17.7 billion the same year (and has recently announced a plan to hike the price of the Covid-19 vaccine by approximately 400%).
BioNTech, which developed the Pfizer vaccine, “reached out to Twitter to request that Twitter directly censor users tweeting at them to ask for generic low cost vaccines.”
5. That brings us to Twitter. The global lobbying blitz includes direct pressure on social media. BioNTech, which developed Pfizer’s vaccine, reached out to Twitter to request that Twitter directly censor users tweeting at them to ask for generic low cost vaccines. pic.twitter.com/6cVIRcUDZV
— Lee Fang (@lhfang) January 16, 2023
According to Fang, “Twitter’s reps responded quickly to the pharma request,” while “A lobbyist in Europe asked the content moderation team to monitor the accounts of Pfizer, AstraZeneca & of activist hashtags like #peoplesvaccine.”
When data is suppressed or eliminated, that’s not science we can trust. It’s not science at all. From el gato malo at boriquagato.com:
the ostensible purpose of public agencies is to serve the public.
but how is the public served by selective data use and outright data suppression?
it’s enough to make one wonder about precisely for whom these purported public servants work. the CDC took its system offline for months in the middle of what remains a “declared emergency” to do an “update.” i struggle to see the sound or needful basis for so doing.
the ONS in the UK has been playing many of the same games and engaging in quite a lot of “hide the ball” besides. that said, they are still the only agency i know of that was reporting covid and all cause deaths by detailed vaccine status that allowed us to see not just the bayesian rig job of only counting “full vaccinated +14-21 days” and so i continue to focus on their data for despite all the apparent issues, definitions of covid death, and seeming undercounting of the unvaccinated (many of which have been so ably laid out by gatopals™ norman fenton and martin neil, see footnotes 6-11 HERE) it allows for some analyses that no other sets do.
my goal is so doing is to show that even when accepting this slanted playing field and steel-manning the case for vaccine efficacy on all cause mortality, they still fail badly. whether vaccines ever worked in this regard could be debated, but if ever they did, they certainly do not appear to anymore and that trend looked to be worsening in may of 2022 when the ONS (yet again) terminated a data series where the problems with the jabs were getting too bad to hide.

More and more doctors are breaking the medical community’s omerta on Covid and the vaccines. From Zachary Stieber at The Epoch Times via zerohedge.com:
An American doctor is joining the calls for the withdrawal of the messenger RNA COVID-19 vaccines, pointing to new research that highlights a connection between the shots and adverse events.

Dr. Joseph Fraiman, a doctor based in Louisiana who also conducts research on COVID-19 and other health issues, says it’s time to halt the administration of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines until new clinical trials prove the benefits from the vaccines outweigh the harms.
The new research, including a reanalysis of the trials for the vaccines, raise concerns about whether the benefits from the vaccines outweigh the harms, according to the doctor.
“I don’t see how anyone couldn’t be certain that the benefits are outweighing the harms on a population level, or even in the high-risk groups. I don’t see the evidence to support that claim,” Fraiman told The Epoch Times. “But I also can’t say that there’s evidence to support that it’s potentially more harmful, but there’s also uncertainty here. … Given that scenario, I believe that people should not be given the [vaccines] outside of a clinical trial, because we need to figure out … if their benefits outweigh harm or if harm outweighs benefits.”
“The only thing that can answer that question is going to be a randomized trial,” he added.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which cleared the shots and has never stopped promoting them, did not return an inquiry.
Fraiman led a study that reanalyzed the original Pfizer and Moderna trials. He and his colleagues concluded in a study published following peer review that the vaccinated were at higher risk of serious adverse events.
That’s one data point. Another is the identification of safety signals, or adverse events, that are potentially caused by the vaccines but require further study. The FDA revealed in December 2022 that the Pfizer vaccine was linked to blood clotting in elderly individuals. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which recommends the vaccines for virtually all Americans, found hundreds of other signals in its research, according to records obtained by The Epoch Times.
The short, correct answer is that we can’t trust such institutions. From Abir Ballan at brownstone.org:

Trust the Authorities, trust the Experts, and trust the Science, we were told. Public health messaging during the Covid-19 pandemic was only credible if it originated from government health authorities, the World Health Organization, and pharmaceutical companies, as well as scientists who parroted their lines with little critical thinking.
In the name of ‘protecting’ the public, the authorities have gone to great lengths, as described in the recently released Twitter Files (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) that document collusion between the FBI and social media platforms, to create an illusion of consensus about the appropriate response to Covid-19.
They suppressed ‘the truth,’ even when emanating from highly credible scientists, undermining scientific debate and preventing the correction of scientific errors. In fact, an entire bureaucracy of censorship has been created, ostensibly to deal with so-called MDM— misinformation (false information resulting from human error with no intention of harm); disinformation (information intended to mislead and manipulate); malinformation (accurate information intended to harm).
From fact-checkers like NewsGuard, to the European Commission’s Digital Services Act, the UK Online Safety Bill and the BBC Trusted News Initiative, as well as Big Tech and social media, all eyes are on the public to curtail their ‘mis-/dis-information.’
“Whether it’s a threat to our health or a threat to our democracy, there is a human cost to disinformation.” — Tim Davie, Director-General of the BBC
But is it possible that ‘trusted’ institutions could pose a far bigger threat to society by disseminating false information?
Although the problem of spreading false information is usually conceived of as emanating from the public, during the Covid-19 pandemic, governments, corporations, supranational organisations and even scientific journals and academic institutions have contributed to a false narrative.

There are so many to choose from. Caitlin Johnstone has chosen 20, although she seems to be missing #4. From Johnstone at caitlinjohnstone.com:

The US empire’s proxy war in Ukraine has had many jaw-dropping instances of imperialist sociopathy, propagandistic audacity and brazen journalistic malpractice that we’ve discussed in this space many times, but one of the most cringeworthy and degrading aspects of the globe-spanning narrative control campaign surrounding this war has been the way the nation’s president Volodymyr Zelensky has been turned into an ever-present corporate mascot for the most aggressive ad campaign ever devised. The way the most powerful institutions in the western world have been throwing their puppet in everyone’s face to sell the empire’s proxy warfare puts Ronald McDonald to shame.
Here are 20 of the cringiest moments of establishment PR using Zelensky to market the McProxy War to the western world, in no particular order.
Antiwar’s Dave DeCamp writes:
Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) introduced a bill this week that would place a bust of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the House wing of the US Capitol building, an idea that was strongly criticized by more conservative GOP members.

CJ Hopkins may well be right that Elon Musk’s Twitter releases are what he petulantly labels a limited hangout. However, a limited hangout is better than no hangout at all. From CJ Hopkins at off-guardian.com:
The Mother of All Limited Hangouts has begun. Yes, I’m talking about the “Covid Twitter Files,” which are finally being released to the public, in almost textbook limited-hangout fashion.
I’ll get into that in just a minute, but first, let’s review what a “limited hangout” is, for those who are not familiar with the term.
The way a limited hangout works is, if you’re an intelligence agency, or a global corporation, or a government, or a non-governmental organization, and you have been doing things you need to hide from the public, and those things are starting to come to light such that you can’t just deny that you are doing them anymore, what you do is, you release a limited part of the story (i.e., the story of whatever it is you’re doing) to distract people’s attention from the rest of the story.
The part you release is the “limited hangout.” It’s not a lie. It’s just not the whole story. You “hang it out” so that it will become the whole story, and thus stop people from pursuing the whole story.
Victor Marchetti, a former special assistant to the Deputy Director of the CIA who went on to become a critic of the Intelligence Community, described the tactic this way in 1978…
“… a favorite and frequently used gimmick of clandestine professionals. When their veil of secrecy is shredded and they can no longer rely on a phony cover story to misinform the public, they resort to admitting, sometimes even volunteering, some of the truth while still managing to withhold the key and damaging facts in the case. The public, however, is usually so intrigued by the new information that it never thinks to pursue the matter further.”
All right, so, you’re probably asking, if the “Covid Twitter Files” are a limited hangout, what’s the whole story that they’re distracting us from?
