Stop Trusting the Experts! by Bruce Abramson

There’s nothing more overrated in American life than degrees, especially those from so-called elite institutions. From Bruce Abramson at realclearpolitics.com:

Stop Trusting the Experts!

Every now and then, I’m lucky enough to meet someone who “follows the science.” I count on such folks to teach me some science that I do not yet know. Being scientifically literate, I like to start by asking them some basic questions:

How are key data terms defined? How are data collected and reported? What theories guided the design of the models that process the raw data? What studies validated the models? How sensitive are the models to variations in inputs? How well do the models perform using historical data? Do the models have a track record at prediction — and if so, how well have they done? What alternative hypotheses were considered? How were the hypotheses tested?

Anyone surprised by such questions can’t plausibly claim to understand the science, much less to follow it. Most likely, they’ve confused “the science” with a selected scientist, a claimed scientific consensus, or the scientific establishment. Or, worse, partisan politics masquerading as science.

The confusion stems from a common misconception — an improper line many people draw between scientists working for corporations and scientists working for universities or government agencies. While most people understand that corporate scientists tend to support positions that serve corporate interests, many have been fooled into believing that academic and government scientists serve objective scientific truth.

Dr. Fauci Gets In Heated Debate With Seventeen Previous Versions Of Himself

From The Babylon Bee:

Dr. Fauci is Finally Unmasked, by Peter Barry Chowka

Fauci is finally getting knocked off his pedestal, and deservedly so. From Peter Barry Chowka at americanthinker.com:

Dr. Anthony Fauci has been the leader of the federal government’s politically based responses to Covid-19 since day one of the pandemic.  The director since 1984 of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, he now serves as President Biden’s leading advisor on the issue. Last year, Fauci repeatedly undercut President Trump when he was working for the 45th president. And now he’s all in for Joe Biden.

In recent years, people on the left who lie and break the law – from the streets to the suites – have rarely been held accountable. One of them, in the opinion of many, is Dr. Anthony Fauci.  Fauci is more responsible than anyone else for promoting lockdowns, mask mandates, and experimental vaccines rather than inexpensive, effective treatments for Covid-19. While most conservatives have lost faith in “Dr. Doom,” it has seemed like he would never be held to account for what he has done or that he would ever be compelled to relinquish his lifelong, incredibly influential, and highly remunerative bureaucratic perch.

But – keep your fingers crossed – that may be about to change. The serious unraveling of  Fauci’s undeserved reputation as “an American hero” and “the most trusted voice on Covid-19” has finally begun.

In the past several weeks, a number of things happened to alter the status quo Fauci-is-god spin. For months now, outlying reporting, from reputable sources – including whistleblowers like virologist Dr. Li-Meng Yan who escaped from Red China – has maintained that the origin of Covid-19 was the Wuhan Institute of Virology. According to these sources, the virus was either a bioweapon or a horrific experiment that got loose by accident from the Wuhan lab. After being dismissed as a conspiracy theory, these possibilities to explain the coronavirus have now gained significant ground and gone mainstream.

Neanderthals vs. Science

Where’s Dr. Fauci As Another Corona-Myth Dies? by John Tamny

The coronavirus death count would have been far lower if Fauci had retired in 2019. From John Tamny at realclearmarkets.com:

For over a year well-to-do Americans have quite literally been “quarantining” packages shipped to them,  and that were dropped off at their residences by “science-denying” untouchables who lacked the means to similarly “shelter-in-place.” The package-terrified have usually waited 48 hours before handling said box and contents.

What about the Clorox wipes that were never in stock thanks to frantic science believers clearing the shelves of them? Some never left their homes.

Of course, when the corona-fearful actually ventured outside, they wore gloves while still not touching anything. They jumped out in the street when passing another human since, well, you know, the very humans who’ve driven all progress for millennia were suddenly a lethal menace to one another. But the main thing is that if they had to risk their lives by being in public, the science reverent more than masked up: they wiped down everything they came near.

Even though airlines were sending out texts ahead of boarding meant to comfort the nail-biting about plane interiors that had been thoroughly scrubbed, passengers still brought their own wipes on planes; that, or they accepted wipes from flight attendants in order to double up on the work done by maintenance. At present, Hilton essentially co-brands its rooms with Lysol….

Oh well, apparently all that hand wringing about surfaces was a tad overdone. Last week the CDC announced that the risk of contracting the virus by touching a “contaminated” surface was somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 and 10,000. Another myth born of Covid-hysteria has bitten the dust.

Rand Paul: Fauci Is A “Petty Tyrant”, by Steve Watson

It’s a complete mystery why Anthony Fauci has received the lionization he has received, he’s a hack. From Steve Watson at summit.news:

“His only real theme is ‘do what I say’ even when it makes no sense”

Senator Rand Paul reacted to Anthony Fauci’s declaration that Americans should still not be socialising despite having been vaccinated by labelling the White House medical advisor a “petty tyrant”.

Fauci appeared on MSNBC Sunday and announced that people should still be refraining from eating and drinking together indoors, as well as suggesting that the vaccinated may need more ‘booster’ shots to maintain protection against the coronavirus.

Senator Paul hit back at Fauci, accusing him of  ignoring “100 years of vaccine science”.

Paul added that Fauci’s “only real theme is ‘do what I say’ even when it makes no sense.”

“If you’ve recovered or been vaccinated – go about your life. Eat, drink, work, open the schools,” Paul continued, adding “Enough with the petty tyrants!

Impending Doom, Indeed! by David Stockman

Graphs don’t generally move in straight lines and no matter what the trend, there’s usually some movement contrary to the trend. A squiggle in clear downtrend lines for coronavirus cases and deaths had Biden’s new CDC director, Rochelle Walensky, in tears as she conveyed her fear of “impending doom.” Where the hell do they come up with these people? From David Stockman, at davidstockmanscontracorner via lewrockwell.com:

We will not mince words. America is indeed suffering from a dangerous plague – a plague of misanthropic fear-mongering from the likes of Dr. Fauci, the Scarf Lady and the Biden’s new CDC director, among countless others of the self-designated Virus Patrol.

All three took to the mainstream media in recent days, with new CDC director Rochelle Walensky getting positively teary-eyed as she allegedly veered off-script to sound yet another Covid Alarm:

“I’m going to reflect on the recurring feeling I have of impending doom,” Walensky said, appearing to hold back tears.

“We do not have the luxury of inaction. For the health of our country, we must work together now to prevent a fourth surge.”

What? Where? Wait!

Here’s the source of Doom. Well, if you have your magnifying glass handy you might possibly spot it – the squiggle down there in the yellow box below!

Actually, she was not nearly done. When it comes to paint by the numbers exaggeration and hysteria the following is hard to top.

It seems that the reason for Walensky’s alarm is that from the winter-flu season peak on January 13th, when the 7-day moving average reported 251,912 so-called “new cases”, the 7-day rate had plummeted by 77.8% to 55,840 on March 15th, but as of March 28 it was down by only, um, 75.3%!

The nation is recording a seven-day average of about 57,000 new Covid-19 cases per day, a 7% jump over the last week, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said during a White House news briefing on the pandemic.

You can’t make up this kind of calculated mendacity, including, presumably, the off-script scripted tears.

Pope Fauci and The Variants, by Eric Peters

Unfounded Covid-19 fear has become a secular religion. From Eric Peters at ericpetersautos.com:

It sounds like an ’80s synth band but the tune is more like the braying of a defective donkey.

Perhaps you saw the exchange between Pope Fauci and Senator Rand Paul over Mask Wearing Forever, which the Pope of Sickness insists on.

Paul inquired of his Holiness, why dost thou continue to wear thy vestment in view of the fact that thou hast been anointed with the Holy Water (i.e., the “vaccine” – which ostensibly renders the recipient immune from the ‘Rona, else why bother taking it and with it, whatever risk of unknown problems it may cause)?

The Pope’s reply was what one would expect of any religious leader: Just believe. For I saith so.

And, obey.

Rand – playing the part of a latter-day Martin Luther – questioned the Pope about this, demanding to know what evidence could be adduced to substantiate the Holy Assertion that wearing a vestment or two served other than a ritualistic purpose. None was forthcoming.

The Pope  instead resorted to incantations – The Variants! The Variants! – this being the replacement for The Cases! The Cases! – the latter having lost some of its tent show power to wow and cow the Faithful. But wait! While this ‘Rona may have been tamed, a new ‘Rona – several of them, even, could be in the air.

Thus saith the Pope.

Fauci’s Failures Are Firing Offenses, by the Issues and Insights Editorial Board

That Dr. Fauci has been virtually canonized notwithstanding a string of contradictory statements, abundant political posturing, and a maladroit response to the coranavirus is a complete mystery. From the Issues and Insights Editorial at issuesinsights.com:

Dr. Anthony Fauci. Photo: NIAID, licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 Generic license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/deed.en).

Dr. Anthony Fauci has impressive credentials and a lengthy tenure as a top-level government health official dating back to 1984. But his performance during the COVID-19 pandemic has been abysmal, with politicized non-science-based edicts and frequently reversed “medical advice” that have confused and frightened Americans.

Just a week ago, Fauci made what to some was a stunning admission: “We’ve done worse than most any country” in managing the outbreak, he said. We say “stunning” because Fauci, as head of NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is the official most responsible for the U.S. response.

His 2019 pay of $417,608 makes him the nation’s highest paid federal official. As a scientist, he’s held in very high esteem by many, particularly those on the left, who see his sweeping powers – lockdowns, masking, social distancing – as a nifty means of social control. It’s control of 330 million people via social isolation and nonstop browbeating of those who dare to diverge from the oppressive “new normal” we all now experience on a daily basis.

The big problem has been Fauci’s pronunciamentos are often nonsensical, not supported by science or contradictory. “These are my principles,” Groucho Marx once said. “If you don’t like these, I have others.” That’s Fauci.

COVID-19: The Emergence of the Pandemic Industrial Complex, by Brian Berletic

The pandemic industrial complex may be even more deleterious than the military-industrial-intelligence complex. From Brian Berletic from activistpost.com:

If official numbers are to be believed, the United States is one of the worst hit countries in terms of COVID-19 infections and deaths. According to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), at the time of writing, there are supposedly 19 million COVID-19 cases with an alleged 300,000+ deaths suggesting between a 1-2% chance of dying from COVID-19 if infected by it.

However, these numbers are problematic – even before questioning the validity of the statistics themselves leading to them.

For example, asymptomatic cases will likely go both untested and unreported, meaning many more people are actually being infected by COVID-19, exhibiting no symptoms, receiving no treatment, and most certainly not making it into the CDC’s “cases” statistics.

This means that your chances of being infected by COVID-19 and dying are actually much, much less than the often touted claim of 1-2%. Only those who exhibit severe enough symptoms to be tested and/or treated will make it into the statistics of “cases.”

In terms of framing any pandemic, an exaggeration of the lethality of the virus becomes a fundamental issue. If this information by itself is carelessly or dishonestly presented to the public without mention of the many more people likely being infected and exhibiting no symptoms at all, panic can, and clearly has been spread across society and the world, enabling extreme policies to glide through approval, beginning the process of disfigurement society now suffers today.
