The Political Business Cycle in Reverse, by Thomas DiLorenzo

The economy plays a big part in elections, and the coronavirus gave the Democrats a  perfect chance to try to throw an economy that was doing pretty well into reverse. Then came the riots, another way to destroy businesses and jobs. From Thomas DiLorenzo at lewrockwell.com:

In the late 1970s/early ‘80s the economic subdiscipline of public choice (the application of economic theory and methodology to the study of political decision making) spawned a body of literature on the “political business cycle.”  The book Democracy in Deficit: The Political Legacy of Lord Keynes, by James M. Buchanan and Richard E. Wagner was the main inspiration for this.  There are now hundreds of scholarly articles and numerous books on the subject.

At the time standard Keynesian macroeconomics held that selfless and omniscient public servants would manage monetary and fiscal policy in such a way as to stabilize the business cycle “in the public interest,” minimizing its peaks and troughs along with the costs of inflation and unemployment.  Even by then, however, that notion had been proven to be a farce and a fraud.  Keynesian economics was discredited by the existence of “stagflation” in the ‘70s which it had no explanation for and thought it to be an impossibility.

In addition to many other reasons why central planning under the guise of “stabilization policy” is an inherent failure, the theory of the political business cycle added a new twist:  Politicians are not selfless and omniscient; they are rationally self interested just like everyone else.  They want to keep their jobs, just like everyone else.  One trick that they employ to achieve this goal, says the theory of the political business cycle, is to ramp up government spending just before elections, funded by debt and inflation.  The perceived benefits to voters occurs in the short run, with the bills to be paid after the election.  The conclusion is that political reality dictates that so-called stabilization policy will frequently be destabilizing.

Democratic Derangement: Party ‘Games’ A Possible Coup If Trump Wins In November, by the Issues and Insights Editorial Board

Are Democratic election war games actually blueprints? From the Issues and Insights Editorial Board at issuesinsights.com:

Photo: Ted Eytan, licensed under Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International

he strength of America’s elections lies in people’s confidence that votes will be fairly tallied, and that the losing party will bow out gracefully and become the loyal opposition. But what if a loser refuses to acknowledge the results of a free and fair election? What if it instead takes to the streets to commit violence and mayhem? Or even attempts a coup?

We ask because there’s every sign now that the Democrats, in a panic over candidate Joe Biden’s lackluster basement campaign and growing evidence that he is suffering age-related mental impairment, will refuse to acknowledge President Donald Trump for a second term, even if he wins clearly.

The last time we had a party really refuse to accept the results of an election was in 1860. Then, Democrats in southern states threatened to secede if Abraham Lincoln, candidate of the anti-slavery Republican Party, won. He did, and southern states began seceding before he even took office. We fought a civil war.

Today, we might be edging toward another.

“We now seem to be on the cusp of relitigating the question, only instead of slaveholding southerners blackmailing the country with secession, it’s anti-Trump Democrats and left-wing radicals threatening to tear the country apart if Trump wins in November,” writes John Daniel Davidson at the Federalist. “For them, the Union is conditional, and Trump’s reelection will violate their conditions.”

Of course, in 2000 and 2016 the Democrats also objected to the election outcome, but at least could argue that the Republican winner in neither election had a majority of the popular vote. (Irrelevant, of course, since thanks to the Founders’ wisdom we choose our president through the Electoral College, which gives individual states clout in picking the nation’s chief executive. That keeps the U.S. from being dominated by a dictatorship of just four or five heavily populated states.)

Since 2016, however, Democrats have openly made it a full-time political job to stymie Trump’s presidency. They’ve charged him with cheating in the 2016 election, colluding with the Russians, and even killing thousands of Americans due to his supposedly incompetent response to the China virus pandemic.

Six Reasons Why the Wrong Party Will Win the Most Important US Election Since 1860, by Doug Casey

SLL is more optimistic than Doug Casey, who does a good job of laying out the pessimists’ case. From Casey at internationalman.com:

The upcoming election may be the most important in US history. At least as important as that of 1860, which led directly to the War Between the States. In 2016 I believed Trump would win and placed a money bet on him. This time I’m not so sure, despite Trump’s “incumbent advantage” and the fact the Democrats could hardly have picked two worse candidates.

I see at least six reasons why this is true, namely:

  • The Virus
  • The economy
  • Demographics
  • Moral collapse of the old order
  • The Deep State
  • Cheating

The consequences of a Democrat victory will be momentous. Let’s look at why it’s likely.

1. The Virus

Despite the fact COVID is only marginally more deadly than the annual flu, and the fact it’s only a danger to the very old (median death age 80), the hysteria around it is changing the nature of life itself. It’s proven much less serious than the Asian flu of the late ’60s or the Hong Kong flu of the late ’50s. And not even remotely comparable to the Spanish flu of 1918-19. None of those had any discernable effect on the economy or politics. COVID is a trivial medical event but has created a gigantic psychological hysteria.

The virus hysteria is, however, a disaster from Trump’s point of view for several reasons. None of them have anything to do with his “handling” of the virus—apart from the fact that medical issues should be a matter between a patient and his doctor, not bureaucrats and politicians.

First, the virus hysteria is severely limiting the number and size of Trump’s rallies, which he relies on to keep enthusiasm up.

Structural-Racism Hoax a Loser for Dems, by Robert Ringer

Has the Democratic party been a “good deal” for blacks? Not by a longshot, which is why blacks are shifting to Trump in unheard of numbers for a Republican. From Robert Ringer at lewrockwell.com:

With President Trump’s support among African-Americans edging toward 40 percent, it’s clear that an increasing number of blacks now understand that liberty and capitalism, not big government — and certainly not socialism — are the keys to a productive and prosperous life.

What has taken so long for blacks to recognize that liberty and capitalism are their friends is the fact that Democrats have controlled the levers of power for decades — especially in major cities. They have mastered the art of empty promises, childish hyperbole, and hysterical rhetoric. They have also mastered the art of keeping their history from the general public, especially blacks.

Since its founding in 1829, the Democratic Party has had a long history of racial discrimination. It passionately defended the unconscionable practice of slavery (including starting the Civil War to keep slavery in place), opposed Reconstruction, founded the Ku Klux Klan, imposed segregation, and engaged in lynching. Democrats also fought tooth and nail against the civil rights acts of the 1950s and 1960s.

In the infamous 1857 Dred Scott v. Sandford case, the Supreme Court ruled that slaves were property and therefore could not be citizens.  The seven justices who voted in favor of this decision were all Democrats, while the two dissenting justices were Republicans.  Have you ever heard a Republican talk about this?  Of course not.  It might offend their Democratic colleagues.  In this respect, Republicans have enabled Democrats in their ongoing efforts to keep blacks uninformed.

Ever since the implementation of Democrat Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society, government welfare programs have decimated black families.  To add insult to injury for inner-city folks, politically correct police guidelines have made it easier for criminals to terrorize black communities.  Through both their actions and lack of action, Democrats have made it clear that black lives don’t matter to them at all.

Reconsidering the Presidential Election, by the Saker

Many people, including the Saker, have misgivings about Trump but will vote for him because they’re pretty sure he won’t turn the country over to violent criminals. From the Saker at unz.com:

In early July I wrote a piece entitled “Does the next Presidential election even matter?” in which I made the case that voting in the next election to choose who will be the next puppet in the White House will be tantamount to voting for a new captain while the Titanic is sinking. I gave three specific reasons why I thought that the next election would be pretty much irrelevant:

  1. The US system is rigged to give all the power to minorities and to completely ignore the will of the people
  2. The choice between the Demolicans and the Republicrats is not a choice at all
  3. The systemic crisis of the US is too deep to be affected by who is in power in the White House

I have now reconsidered my position and I now see that I was wrong because I missed something important:

A lot has happened in the past couple of months and I now have come to conclude that while choosing a captain won’t make any difference to a sinking Titanic, it might make a huge difference to those passengers who are threatened by a group of passengers run amok. In other words, while I still do not think that the next election will change much for the rest of the planet (the decay of the Empire will continue), it is gradually becoming obvious that for the United States the difference between the two sides is becoming very real.

Why?

This is probably the first presidential election in US history where the choice will be not between two political programs or two political personalities, but the stark and binary choice between law and order and total chaos.

It is now clear that the Dems are supporting the rioting mobs and that they see these mobs as the way to beat Trump.

America’s Color Revolution, by Paul Craig Roberts

A regime change operation is underway in the US. From Paul Craig Roberts at paulcraigroberts.com:

I have provided evidence that the military/security complex, using the media and the Democrats, intends to turn the November election into a color revolution—https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2020/09/08/democrats-have-planned-a-coup-if-trump-wins-reelection/  and  https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2020/09/10/the-democrats-are-fronting-for-the-cia-deep-states-color-revolution/   and  https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2020/09/10/the-united-states-its-constitution-have-two-months-left/ .  The CIA is very experienced at color revolutions, having pulled them off in a number of countries where the existing government did not suit the CIA.  As we have known  since CIA Director John Brennan’s denunciations of President Trump, Trump doesn’t suit the CIA either. As far as the CIA is concerned, Trump is no different from Hugo Chavez, Nicolas Maduro, Charles de Gaulle, Manuel Zelaya, Evo Morales, Viktor Yanukovych, and a large number of others.

Russiagate was a coup that failed, followed by the failed Impeachgate coup.  Faced with Trump’s reelection and the realization that upon reelection Trump will be able to deal with the treason against him, the Deep State has decided to take him out with a color revolution.

The evidence of a color revolution in the works is abundantly supplied by CNN, MSNBC, New York Times, NPR, Washington Post and numerous Internet sites funded by the CIA and the foundations and corporations through which it operates, all of which are committed to Trump’s ejection from the Oval Office.  The American public does not realize the extent to which the institutions of a free society have been penetrated and turned against freedom. All of these media organizations are establishing the story in the mind of Americans that Trump will not leave office when he loses or steals the election and must be driven out.

Expect Democrat Shenanigans, But Don’t Panic, by Kurt Schlichter

It’s not going to be as easy for the Democrats to cheat their way to victory this election as many people seem to think. From Kurt Schlichter at theburningplatform.com:

Expect Democrat Shenanigans, But Don’t Panic

The media is filled with stories about how the Democrats are planning to refuse to accept Donald Trump’s impending victory, with speculation about cheating, lawsuits, and the odd military coup. Leaving aside the bizarre notion that our troops are eager to risk their lives to kill their friends and family for the benefit of the liberal establishment and the military-industrial complex – which the Democrats have suddenly embraced as something awesome – in order to impose that creepy old weirdo from the basement upon America, the challenges are real but they are also overblown.

Don’t panic. Prepare. Work to get out the patriotic American vote. If we’re ready maybe this won’t descend into the chaos I describe in my novel/unintended documentary People’s Republic.

Now, they will cheat. That’s baked in, and they are fully committed to it. That’s why they hate hate hate voter ID – it’s harder to cheat when you have to prove who you are. Voting-by-mail gets around that and offers all sorts of opportunities for mischief. They fully intend to try to leverage voting by mail to 1) get China virus paranoids and their usual lay-about voters to vote instead of just sitting home watching “Judge Judy,” and 2) manufacture the necessary votes to swing the election. The turnout issue is important to them because all the numbskulls driving their cars alone with masks on are all liberal. The Dems could have gone with explaining that going to vote for Biden confers immunity, just like rioting, but whatever. Now, the cheating aspect is another issue, but how great an impact cheating might have is open to question.

Looking From The Left, by the Zman

Are we headed towards open season on “White Supremacists,” with all whites, particularly males, presumed “White Supremacists”? From the Zman at theburningplatform.com:

One of the lessons of 2020 is that the near future is every bit as unpredictable as the past, perhaps more so. Six months ago, no one would have predicted a replay of the disastrous Black Lives Matter stuff from the Left. Similarly, few would have predicted that the Democrat Party would have installed a dementia patient as their candidate, after he had been rejected by their voters. Therefore, trying to look out from here to predict how all of this will unfold is no easy thing.

We can, however, look at the possibilities. The future may be unpredictable, but the range of options is not unlimited. We can further limit the scope by eliminating things like meteor strikes and accidental nuclear exchanges. Just sticking to the political, there are a number of ways the current situation can go. The first step in narrowing that list further is to consider what the Left will do over the next six months. The one thing that is clear is the Soros wing is driving events now.

One possibility is they realize this has turned the public against them and they pull the plug on their lunatics. This is what happened in 2016. When BLM started assassinating cops, the party quickly moved to defund them and instructed the media to stop talking about them. That could happen this time, as Biden is now running ads lying about his position on this stuff. He and the Bitter Bindi are pretending they have been for law and order all along. So far, the Left is not listening.

Democrats Have Planned a Coup If Trump Wins Reelection, by Paul Craig Roberts

If the Democrats can’t win by playing fair, they’ve announced they intend to cheat. From Paul Craig Roberts at paulcraigroberts.org:

Under the pretext that President Trump will not step down if he loses reelection, Democrats and the military/security complex created the Transition Integrity Project. The plan they have worked out is to take the presidency regardless of the vote. Trump’s win is to be blamed on vote fraud, and Biden/Kamala are forbidden to concede their defeat. Instead, the presstitutes will conduct a propaganda campaign against Trump alleging election fraud in order to cast Trump’s reelection in doubt.

The propaganda campaign against Trump will be conducted by assertions and fake news just as was the Russiagate, Impeachgate, and other orchestrated false charges against Trump. The Democrats know that just like their other false allegations against Trump, the media will back them to the hilt and many dumbshit Americans will believe the lies. The presstitutes have done nothing for four years but try to discredit President Trump in the eyes of both Americans and the world.

The Democrat public-sector US Postal Union will not deliver mail-in votes for Trump from known Red areas.

If this doesn’t suffice, charges will be made that Trump had the US Postal Service not deliver millions of votes for Biden/Kamala–charges absurd on their face as the postal union is a Democrat bastion–and searches will be sent for the missing ballots. When the “missing ballots” are “found,” Biden/Kamala will be the winners. Remember, the only voice here will be the anti-Trump presstitutes. Trump will have been closed out of Twitter and TV and radio communication with Americans.

The next step is to unleash Antifa/BLM violence in American cities. The presstitutes will portray the violence as America’s rejection of Trump’s theft of the election and refusal to leave office. Trump will be accused of destroying American democracy. The Democrats actually destroying American democracy will be portrayed as saving democracy from a power mad tyrant.

The Ghost in the Machine, by James Howard Kunstler

The Democrats sure have funny ways of trying to win an election: a weak candidate, riots, Russians, and the Covid-19 lockdowns. From James Howard Kunstler at kunstler.com:

The abiding mystery of the 2020 election is how come the Democratic Party, wishing so zealously to win back power, took pains to nominate a candidate weaker than the ghost of Millard Fillmore. Resorting to Occam’s Razor, one might have to conclude that Joe Biden was simply the best they had — a surefire case for the party’s necessary extinction.

The Labor Day starting-gun kicks off the high campaign season and Ol’ White Joe wobbles forth from his lair under a rock somewhere to dazzle audiences of six or eight sympathetic journos posed in “social distancing” formation while the party’s Antifa and BLM shock troops soften up voters elsewhere across the land with vote-winning riots, arson, and looting. There’s a recipe for political success!

You have to wonder how the claque of DC deep state players behind this fiasco could come up with a game-plan so stupidly inept… but there it is! Apparently, they’re laying further plans now to bum-rush Ol’ Joe into the White House by main force with a “color revolution” — that is, an orchestrated fake popular revolt as in the Ukraine Maidan regime change operation of 2014. In fact, as Revolver News reports, the same wrecking crew of US State Department officials, intel spooks, contract insurrectionists, and George Soros-sponsored NGO intriguers is behind the US 2020 “Transition Integrity Project” aimed at launching a US post-election coup against Mr. Trump, no matter how the election actually goes.

The plan was all over the web wires this holiday weekend. Everybody knows exactly what to expect now: a November 3 Trump election victory followed by a king-tide of post-election write-in votes for Ol’ Joe… a long, drawn-out, and surely inconclusive battle trying to validate scores of millions of postmarks and signatures… and a skein of Lawfare-managed shenanigans conducted in battleground state legislatures to change-out electoral college slates. And any objections by Mr. Trump and his party will be labeled as Putin-backed fascist treason.
