Requiem For Donald Trump, by Paul Craig Roberts

By hook or by crook, Donald Trump should make sure he receives a pardon before he leaves office or there will be no end of misery for him and his family. From Paul Craig Roberts at paulcraigroberts.com:

Attorney General Bill Barr, another of Trump’s mistakes, has sold out not only President Trump but also American democracy, thus proving that it is pointless to vote for Republicans.

Barr has again repeated in the face of conclusive evidence that the November presidential election was organized to be stolen and successfully was stolen that the Trump Justice Department has not found evidence of fraud sufficient to overturn the election.  But as we all know, the Department of Justice, like the courts, did not look at the evidence. If they look at the evidence, they will see massive electoral fraud, and they do not want to see it.  They want to be rid of Trump.

Barr has now added to his support of massive electoral fraud his statement that there is no basis for seizing the voting machines and software for examination.  But, of course, there is basis.  There has been abundent testimony from professionals explaining how the machines were programmed to elect Biden.  There are hundreds of signed affidavits from witnesses documenting the use of hundreds of thousands of fraudulent mail-in ballots to complete the theft of the election.  For an attorney general to say affidavits are not evidence is to fly in the face of the Department of Justice’s own practices. If an affidavid signed under penalty of perjury is not evidence, the DOJ will never be able to again bring a case.

What is really going on is that Barr, a member of the establishment, is doing the establishment’s business of getting rid of a non-establishment president who is in the way of the establishment’s agendas. A president who represents the interests of the people rather than the interests of the establishment is a threat to the establishment and must be removed. John F. Kennedy was removed with a bullet. Trump was removed with a stolen election.

Trump Blasts Exaggerated Media Claims Of “Russia, Russia, Russia” In Cyberattack After Seeing Intel, by Tyler Durden

It is impossible to believe intelligence agency attributions of where hacking attacks originate because Wikileaks revealed over three years ago that the CIA has programs which will mimic other nations’ hacking capabilities. Nevertheless, “Russia, Russia, Russia” remains the go-to villain for hacking and most every other form of covert skulduggery. From Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com:

update: Contradicting Pompeo’s earlier Friday statement during a conservative talk radio interview wherein the Secretary of State alleged Russia was “pretty clearly” behind the cyberattack of multiple US federal agencies, Trump lambasted the prematurely emerging narrative in a Saturday morning tweet.

“Russia, Russia, Russia is the priority chant when anything happens” he said, while calling the cyber hack “far greater in the Fake News Media than in actuality” after being thoroughly briefed by US intelligence officials on the matter.

We noted earlier that this increasingly looks more like a last-ditch effort to revive the previously failed Russiagate narrative.

Trump continued in a follow-up tweet to slam mainstream media’s attempt to flip the script away from China.

Though Pompeo had earlier pointed the finger at Russia in what was the first high level administration explicit blaming of the Kremlin, it will be interesting to see if that’s walked back when the State Department formally weighs in on the alleged major cyberattack.

Roadmap to a Trump Reelection (Yes, It Is Still Possible), by Robert Bridge

Believe or not, Trump could still win. From Robert Bridge at strategic-culture.org:

By this time it would appear that a Biden-Harris presidency is a foregone conclusion. Despite multiple allegations of election fraud put forward by Trump’s legal team, the Democrat Joe Biden has been officially recognized by the Electoral College as the President-elect. Nevertheless, the Republican incumbent still has a shot at retaining control of the White House, but much depends on the willingness of the courts to look at the evidence, as well as the fortitude and will of his allies.

Before considering the ‘roadmap’ that would allow Donald Trump to seize victory from the jaws of defeat, it is necessary to consider an important question first: are there grounds to suggest that the Nov. 3rd presidential election was riddled with fraud and corruption as many are claiming? The answer here is ‘absolutely’. First, nothing adds up mathematically to support the claim of a Biden victory.

Here are just some of the statistical anomalies that have made pollsters scratch their heads: According to the polling results, Joe Biden received more votes than any other presidential candidate in US history, yet he won just 524 counties nationwide (17 percent). By comparison, Barack Obama won 873 counties in 2008, yet we are told that Biden received more votes than his former boss; Biden’s level of support among Black Americans dropped below 90 percent, which usually spells certain defeat for any Democratic candidate; at the same time, the Democratic candidate enjoyed a massive spike in Black votes in a few cities not known for their high voting standards: Detroit, Philadelphia, and Milwaukee – exactly those cities that were necessary to ensure victory.

The Gyre Widens, by James Howard Kunstler

There will not be the customary torch passing from one president to the next. From James Howard Kunstler at kunstler.com:

The mind-numbing weirdness of Joe Biden’s insertion into the election of 2020 — like the furtive groping of an intern in a cloakroom — only signals the Democratic Party’s reckless drive to self-destruction, dragging the republic over the edge of an abyss with it. How did this hollowed-out figure of a grifting old pol find himself pretending to national leadership, and in an historic moment of crisis that goes far beyond the mere wrecking of an election? Who wanted him there so badly, and why?

My guess would be Barack Obama, Hillary and Bill Clinton, and John Brennan anxious to stay out of prison, heading a long list of officials present and former who committed crimes trying desperately to protect them, with accessories aplenty across the aisle. That’s what this four-year coup has been about, snowballing criminality, culminating in an orgy of blatant ballot fraud. At this fraught stage of the drama, they’re hiding behind the pretense that all the old rituals of torch-passing must be observed for the sake of decorum, and they’re mistaken.

The Biden family’s moneygrubbing exploits in foreign lands had already been revealed in the previous act of sedition, the ridiculous impeachment attempt. In that episode, it was well-established in the public record that Hunter Biden grifted more than a million dollars out of the Ukrainian gas company, Burisma, and that his father had stupidly bragged on tape about covering for him. Yet William Barr’s DOJ was already in the possession of Hunter’s laptop, chock full of evidence that Hunter was raking in way more millions from other countries, and that the loot was being distributed to his relatives. Why did they keep that from the president’s lawyers with the Mr. Trump in jeopardy of being railroaded for asking Ukraine’s president to have a look at it? Would Mr. Barr say they were protecting an ongoing investigation by keeping it all secret? What a lame excuse, under the circumstances.

Enter Trump: America’s first shadow President by Michael Tracy

President Trump will loom large throughout a Biden/Harris presidency. From Michael Tracy at unherd.com:

The Electoral College formally convened this week, and with it expired the last faint hope of Donald Trump retaining the presidency. While the outcome had never been in real doubt, Trump and innumerable Republican boosters had for six weeks kept up the mirage of frantic irresolution, with Trump issuing a daily barrage of ALL-CAPS tweets claiming that despite what you might have heard, he’d actually won.

In any event, all states have now ratified their results without serious incident, and the hucksterish post-election litigation efforts undertaken by Trump’s various sundry representatives have predictably gone nowhere. Yesterday, Republican senate leader Mitch McConnell even declared Biden the “president-elect” and now the Democrat is faithfully filling his forthcoming administration with a cast of characters drawn directly from the pits of the Washington, DC Democratic Party professional class — the same people whom he openly campaigned on rehabilitating and restoring to power.

The election is well and truly over, whatever toothless protestations may continue to arise.

The Case For a Pardon of Edward Snowden by President Trump, by Glenn Greenwald

That Edward Snowden cannot return to his country because he exposed the lies and war crimes of the country’s government is a travesty that cannot prevail. From Glenn Greenwald at greenwald.substack.com:

The real criminals are those he exposed: the security state officials who illegally and unconstitutionally spied on innocent people by the millions, and who still do so.

Edward Snowden speaks via video link at a news conference for the launch of a campaign calling for a pardon on September 14, 2016, in New York City (Photo by Spencer Platt/Getty Images).

A U.S. appellate court in September unanimously ruled that the NSA’s program of mass domestic surveillance was illegal, as well as likely a violation of the Fourth Amendment’s guarantee against “unreasonable searches and seizures.” The court, and the broader public, knew about this illegal mass surveillance program created by the NSA only because Edward Snowden, while working inside that agency, discovered its existence and concluded in 2012 that the American public has the right know about what was being secretly done to them and their privacy by their own government.

Upon making the decision to blow the whistle on this security state illegality, Snowden delivered the documents relating to that program and other then-unknown systems of mass online surveillance not by dumping them indiscriminately on the internet or selling them or passing them to foreign governments, but by providing them to journalists (including myself) with The Guardian, The Washington Post and other news outlets. The documents Snowden provided were accompanied by requests to report them responsibly. He thus relinquished the power entirely to make decisions about which documents would and would not be published, leaving those decisions exclusively to news outlets.

Trump’s Last Chance to Snub the Deep State, by Ron Ridenour

If Trump really wants to piss of the Deep State, he should pardon Julian Assange and Edward Snowden. From Ron Ridenour at strategic-culture.org:

Any semblance of rationality during the past dozen years in the United States regarding what the Republican and Democratic parties really stand for is hard to find, other than money, of course.

Political science courses used to teach that Republicans are conservative, oppose labor unionization and decent wages, always ready to war on somebody in the interest of “national security”. While they like to kill foreigners in their wars, especially people of color, they are appalled at the notion that American fetuses should be stopped from growing into human beings.

Democrats were said to be liberal, maybe even “progressive”, willing to protect workers on the job, allowing unions, using dialogue in diplomacy instead of warring — without good cause, of course. Just ask Bernie Sanders. He voted against the Iraq war, albeit voted for financing it once it began. All the other wars were OK for that so-called “socialist”. In comes the “peace president”. Barak Obama took over Republican Bush’s two wars — Afghanistan and Iraq — and extended them, and even added five more to his cowboy gun belt: bombing Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Pakistan. Every Tuesday he sat beside his CIA Director John Brennan, and pushed buttons on who should be droned that day. Never mind the fact that none of these wars were actually declared as such. They were “humanitarian actions” to purportedly help someone get human rights. That they were all unconstitutional did not faze Obama, the supposed lawyer specialist in the constitution.

Why Beltway Conservatives Hate the Trump Populists, by Ryan McMaken

If Trump has lost the election, his supporters will be drawing up their own lists. Beltway conservatives will be at the top of the list; people hate traitors even more than the enemy. From Ryan McMaken at mises.org:

The 2020 election has put on display a growing rift within the conservative movement and the Republican Party. As theWashington Examiner notes this week, “The dividing lines have only deepened since media organizations called the election for his challenger Joe Biden.”

This rift is between populist Trump supporters and the old conservative establishment.  The traditional gatekeepers of conservatism tend to wield wide influence within the Republican Party. The current group of editors, pundits, and columnists came to power in the days when George W. Bush was president and the conservative movement looked very different.

The Two Sides of the Divide

Therefore on one hand are the Trump populists, who are focused on elements of a culture war and who back a relatively restrained nationalistic view of foreign policy. They view themselves as being essentially locked out of institutions of governance by the “deep state” and other elements of the permanent government. They view themselves as beleaguered, and as such they employ a more aggressive tone and posture toward those—with the exception of close allies—who presently occupy positions of power. On the other hand are the mainline conservatives, who view themselves as the “reasonable” ones or as “the adults in the room.” They are generally comfortable with the status quo and seek a stable political system within which they hope to soon wield power. Unlike the Trump supporters, these conservatives are heavily focused on foreign policy and the frequent and aggressive use of state power in the international sphere. They downplay domestic policy and culture war issues, preferring to instead embrace a position of tepid opposition to the Left’s legislative agenda.

How the Old Guard Lost Control of the Conservative Movement

In practice, outside the areas of immigration and foreign policy, the differences between these groups are relatively minor. The rift is largely one of culture and tone and preferred tactics.

But the divide is nonetheless very real, and at some point early in the Donald Trump presidency the anti-Trump conservatives from the old guard realized they had lost control of the movement they once dominated.

The flagship publication of the conservative movement had long been National Review, for instance, but during the 2016 campaign, NR had declared its everlasting enmity toward Donald Trump, devoting much of the magazine’s January 2016 issue to a feature titled “Against Trump.”

Where’s the Hitler? by CJ Hopkins

Trump has not become the dictator of which so many of his detractors have warned. From CJ Hopkins at consentfactory.org:

All right, that’s it. I’ve run out of patience. No more excuses. Where’s the Hitler?

Yes, you heard me. I’m talking to you. You respectable journalists and political pundits. You Intelligence officials and politicians. You fanatical liberals. You pseudo anti-fascists. All you members of the GloboCap “Resistance” who have been hysterically shrieking that “Trump is Hitler!” since he won the nomination back in 2016.

Well, OK, it’s December 2020. The show is almost over. When do we get Hitler?

No, do not tell me “any day now.” You’ve been telling us that for four straight years. Do we look like a bunch of gullible idiots that you can whip up into a four-year frenzy of mindless hatred and paranoia by screaming “Hitler!” over and over, and then not produce an actual Hitler?

Well, we’re not. We remember what you said. You promised us Hitler, and we want Hitler, or at least a decent facsimile of Hitler.

And don’t even think of trying to pretend that you didn’t actually promise us Hitler. You did. You want me to prove it? OK.

Remember back in 2016, when The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Guardian, the Washington Post, The Inquirer, and other such “leading respectable broadsheets,” and online magazines like Mother Jones, Forward, Slate, Salon, Vox, Alternet, and countless others, warned that Trump was sending secret anti-Semitic “dog whistle” signals to his underground army of Nazi terrorists by talking about “international banks,” “global elites,” the “political establishment,” and even “corporations” and “lobbyists” … all of which was supposedly code for “the Jews,” who he was going to exterminate if won the election?

I do. I remember that, distinctly.

The Past Lives On: The Elite Strategy To Divide and Conquer, by Edward Curtin

Every politician pays homage to the working class, then ignores it (at best) or pursues policies that destroy it. From Edward Curtin at off-guardian.org:

Photo by Sonder Quest on Unsplash

They call my people the White Lower Middle Class these days. It is an ugly, ice-cold phrase, the result, I suppose, of the missionary zeal of those sociologists who still think you can place human beings on charts.  It most certainly does not sound like a description of people on the edge of open, sustained and possibly violent revolt,” wrote the marvelous New York journalist, Pete Hamill in “The Revolt of the White Lower Middle Class” in New York magazine.

He added:

The White Lower Middle Class? Say that magic phrase at a cocktail party on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and monstrous images arise from the American demonology. Here comes the murderous rabble: fat, well-fed, bigoted, ignorant, an army of beer-soaked Irishmen, violence-loving Italians, hate-filled Poles. Lithuanians and Hungarians….Sometimes these brutes are referred to as ‘the ethnics’ or ‘the blue-collar types.’ But the bureaucratic, sociological phrase is White Lower Middle Class. Nobody calls it the Working Class anymore.

He wrote that on April 14, 1969. Yesterday. Little changes.

Transferred from NYC to the middle of the country half a century later, these people are referred to as Trump’s “deplorables.” They comes in baskets, as Hillary Clinton said.  And even though they represent nearly half the voting public in the last two presidential elections – 70+ million Americans – their complaints are dismissed as the rantings of ignorant, conservative racists.

Name calling substitutes for understanding. This is not an accident.

Like Hamill, I am a NYC born and bred Irish-American – my working-class Bronx to Pete’s Brooklyn. We both attended the same Jesuit high school in different years. Unlike Hamill, known for his gritty street reporting, because I have been a college sociology professor, I could falsely be categorized as a northeastern liberal intellectual oozing with disdain for those who voted for Trump.  This is false, because, like Hamill, I see it as my intellectual duty to understand what motivates these voters, just as I do with those who voted for Biden.
