Given how much is at stake, this financial revolution is among the most important questions today’s societies could possibly grapple with. It should be under discussion in every parliament of every land, and every dinner table in every country in the world.

Around 90 central banks are either in the process of experimenting with or are already piloting central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). In a world of just over 190 countries that is a large contingent, but given they include the European Central Bank (ECB) which alone represents 19 Euro Area economies, the actual number of economies involved is well over 100. They include all G20 economies and together represent more than 90% of global GDP.

Three CBDCs have already gone fully live in the past two years: the so-called DCash in the Eastern Caribbean, the Sand Dollar in the Bahamas and the eNaira in Nigeria. The International Monetary Fund, the world’s most powerful supranational financial institution, has been lending its expertise in the roll out of CBDCs. In a recent speech the Fund’s President Kristalina Georgieva lauded the potential benefits (on which more later) of CBDCs while heaping praise on the “ingenuity” of the central banks busily trying to conjure them into existence.

The globalist totalitarians are going for the big enchilada: central bank digital currencies. From Kit Knightly at off-guardian.org:

A joint project between the Central Bank of Canada and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology will be researching the possibility of an entirely digital Canadian dollar, it was announced yesterday.

The digital dollar would be a state-issued cryptocurrency, or “central bank digital currency” (CBDC). (For more detail on CBDCs and how they work, you can read our previous article here.)

It’s not just Canada – countries from all around the world appear to be accelerating the research and implementation of CBDCs as we enter the second quarter of 2022.

In our New Years post, OffG hypothesized that the introduction of central bank digital currencies would be a major news thread of 2022, and that prediction looks to be coming true before winter has even turned into spring.

CBDC pilot schemes were already active in the Bahamas and Nigeria before the end of 2021, and Jamaica is rolling out their own later this year after a pilot scheme last year.

Dozens of others are not far behind, including the US, UK and the entire Eurozone. Sweden’s “e-Krona” is currently in the testing phase. Joe Biden has called research into CBDCs a matter of “highest urgency”.

A central bank digital currency is the whole enchilada as far as the globalist totalitarians are concerned. Not only will the government know every penny you spend or receive, but it will be able to curtail or eliminate your access to their currency should you do something it doesn’t like. From John W. The government wants your money.

It will beg, steal or borrow if necessary, but it wants your money any way it can get it.

The government’s schemes to swindle, cheat, scam, and generally defraud taxpayers of their hard-earned dollars have run the gamut from wasteful pork barrel legislation, cronyism and graft to asset forfeiture, costly stimulus packages, and a national security complex that continues to undermine our freedoms while failing to making us any safer.

Americans have also been made to pay through the nose for the government’s endless wars, subsidization of foreign nations, military empire, welfare state, roads to nowhere, bloated workforce, secret agencies, fusion centers, private prisons, biometric databases, invasive technologies, arsenal of weapons, and every other budgetary line item that is contributing to the fast-growing wealth of the corporate elite at the expense of those who are barely making ends meet—that is, we the taxpayers.

This is what comes of those $1.5 trillion spending bills: someone’s got to foot the bill.

Because the government’s voracious appetite for money, power and control has grown out of control, its agents have devised other means of funding its excesses and adding to its largesse through taxes disguised as fines, taxes disguised as fees, and taxes disguised as tolls, tickets and penalties.

No matter how much money the government pulls in, it’s never enough, so the government has come up with a new plan to make it even easier for its agents to seize Americans’ bank accounts.

Make way for the digital dollar.

Was this sudden war in Ukraine planned as a distraction from the larger war waged by the globalists on all the rest of us? Probably. But whether it was planned that way or not, it surely is distracting us—just as the authors of this nightmare are quietly endeavoring to globalize the “vaccine” passports that, we’ve been assured, will not be rolled out by the (merely) national governments that had been threatening to impose them on us.

The article below makes pretty clear that that’s the plan; so let’s not take our eyes completely off the hardball hurtling toward us. The two-year COVID nightmare is not over, despite its sudden absence from the daily media feed, the vanishing of Dr. Fauci, SNL’s disorienting Gee-let’s-all-talk-things-out-the-way-we-used-to comedy, and other changes surely meant to calm us down—rather like O’Brien’s decision to go easier on Winston Smith after his long torture, just to make him think they’re done with him (and then they take him to Room 101).

Digital dollars are like Covid-19 vaccines. They’re both being pushed so hard by governments that they can’t add up to anything but bad news.  From Schiffgold at schiffgold.com:

Last week, the Federal Reserve released a “discussion paper” examing the pros and cons of a potential US central bank digital dollar. According to the Federal Reserve press release, the central bank hopes to get public feedback on the idea.

“We look forward to engaging with the public, elected representatives, and a broad range of stakeholders as we examine the positives and negatives of a central bank digital currency in the United States,” Federal Reserve Chair Jerome H. Powell said.

Government-issued digital currencies are sold on their promise of convenience and security. But there is a darker side – the promise of control.

Digital dollars would be similar to bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. They would exist as virtual banknotes or coins held in a digital wallet on your computer or smartphone. The difference between a government digital currency and bitcoin is the value of the digital currency is backed and controlled by the state, just like traditional fiat currency.

Central bank digital currencies are politicians and central bankers Holy Grail. They could be hell on earth for the rest of us. From Alasdair Macleod at goldmoney.com:

The Fed has just released its first public consultation paper on a dollar-based central bank digital currency. For many, central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) are a means of heading off private sector cryptos, but coincidentally the prices of bitcoin and others have collapsed, losing half their value since early November.

The CBDC proposition is being sold to us by the central banks as keeping up with the times and taking advantage of the opportunities presented by new technologies to evolve payment systems.

The Bank for International Settlements has been coordinating research into CBDCs, and this article gives a brief description of how the BIS and its committee members sees them evolving. It is early days, and there are several important issues yet to be tackled, such as will CBDCs pay interest, and what will be the likely reaction of commercial banks to seeing central banks muscle in on their territory.

There are also two separate CBDC functions to consider. There is retail, whereby individuals have direct access to their central bank as counterparty, and a wholesale function for financial intermediaries for international settlement.

Whether CBDCs will come into existence is doubtful. To have credibility, their introduction will have to be coordinated at G20 level, and they are unlikely to be widely issued before the end of the decade. That will probably be too late to save the world from a developing financial and monetary crisis which threatens to change everything. Furthermore, the Americans will need to be convinced that their dollar hegemony will not be compromised. And what will almost certainly stop it is the powerful US banking lobby, likely to remind politicians presented with the necessary legislation, that a political survivor is one who once bought, stays bought.

This month, the credibility of cryptocurrencies came into question as the price of bitcoin and those of its imitators continued to fall heavily. Bitcoin has halved from its peak, which was only two months ago.

It leaves everyone involved with headaches. As the private sector replacement for failing fiat currencies, the credibility of bitcoin may have suffered a mortal blow, with many observers now comparing it not in the context of rapidly expanding quantities of fiat, but with the wilder tech stocks which coincidentally have taken a battering as well. But a few state actors on the fringes have become strong supporters, notably El Salvador.

How can most every country on earth with vastly different geopolitical makeups; different cultures, different political structures, different people, different intellect and wealth, different governments, different geography, and different desires, all at once act as one? Does this seem even remotely possible? Whether or not it seems possible, it has happened and is still happening today. This has been the case since the fraudulent ‘Covid pandemic’ was invented out of thin air and foisted on the world.

This should once and for all alert any human with even the most infinitesimal ability to think clearly, that this world is controlled not by its people at large, but by the very ‘elite’ few at the top of the power pyramid. No other explanation can describe this phenomenon of tyrannical global unity, cooperation, nearly identical political behavior, monetary manipulation, and purposeful financial ruin that has taken place over just the past two years. This was not for good, but for evil, and it was ubiquitous in nature. A once diverse, unique, and in many cases, distinctly opposite world, almost instantly became one, something so bizarre as to leave any intelligent and sane individual to trust nothing and question everything. Those who ignored this fantastic and queer behavior by all countries at once, those who accepted the state narratives without question, and those who complied with idiotic and despotic draconian measures; have proven to be the cause of the end of freedom, and have voluntarily allowed the onset of global totalitarian rule.

After thousands of years of distinct individual history, this world became a singular entity of oppression and authoritarian rule almost overnight; a hell hole of domination over humanity, which caused a total loss of sovereignty of the individual. This of course has led to mass universal slavery, which is the desired outcome of the world’s ruling class referred to as globalists. To not have seen this coming is outrageous enough in and of itself, but continuing to hide from this reality is unforgivable. Those who do not fight back against this hideous conspiracy deserve no sympathy from those willing to risk all in order to be free, for inaction in the face of this reign of terror against humanity is unconscionable. While constructed division can be the enemy of liberty, there will have to be a break between us in the end, as those who are willing to fight to be free cannot afford to be destroyed by those willing to live in servitude.
