Zero-Tolerance: Chinese Lockdown Protests Intensify In Rare Display Of Defiance, by Tyler Durden

We are seeing an upside breakout in protests, not just in China but globally. The trend is still in its infancy. From Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com:

Protests in China over President Xi Jinping’s zero-tolerance Covid-19 measures have intensified – expanding from Beijing and the far western Xinjiang region to several other major cities, including Wuhan, Shanghai, and the eastern city of Nanjing, according to video and photos circulating on social media.

The weekend protests followed Friday demonstrations in Urumqi, the capitol of Xinjiang, after a deadly fire killed residents who were locked inside following lockdowns which have lasted more than 100 days. Officials have reported 10 deaths in the fire, however citizens have reported up to 40 who perished.

The protests are a rare display from a typically compliant citizenry, who know that crackdowns on dissent have intensified over the past decade. As the Wall Street Journal notes, ” Having protests over the same issue break out in multiple Chinese cities is almost unheard of, outside of nationalist outpourings, such as anti-Japanese protests.”

Since the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989, the ruling party has allowed some local demonstrations, but made it a priority to prevent nationwide protests.

On Saturday, videos circulating on social media showed crowds gathering on a street in central Shanghai calling for a lifting of lockdowns. The videos were verified by Storyful, a social-media research company owned by News Corp, parent company of The Wall Street Journal. -WSJ

Tens of thousands protested against the skyrocketing cost of living and against Macron in France October 16, led by left-wing politician Jean Luc Melenchon, but there were few front page or top-of-the hour headlines in the U.S. Huge protests occurred in Rome the same day to demand an end to Italy’s involvement in NATO, but no coverage on the west side of the Atlantic. Thousands protesting in Paris October 22 against NATO, but little notice in North America. Massive protests against NATO and inflation due to sanctions on Russian energy in France, Germany and Austria in September, but little news of it here in the heart of the empire. German police beat citizens protesting energy shortages and record-high inflation, both due to Russia sanctions, the week of October 17, but that was not covered in the USA. Seventy thousand Czechs protested in Prague September 3 against NATO involvement in Ukraine, demanding gas from Russia (before some mysterious imperial somebody with means and motive blew up Nordstream 1 and 2, probably to nip the political effects of those protests in the bud) and ending the war, but that got little coverage in U.S. corporate media.

Ever get the sense there are things our media hides from us? Hmm. Ever wonder why enormous protests against the policies of the Exceptional Empire and its attack dog, NATO, seem, um, to be downplayed? Ever think our corporate news outlets behave more like the propaganda arm of our neoconservative state department and military than a free press? Well, if so, you may be onto something.

People protest because they’re getting screwed and they know it. From Declan Hayes at strategic-culture.org:

As Western Europe flexes itself for a winter of protests against NATO’s Ukrainian campaign, the science and mechanics of protests both warrant examination to gauge the abyss that lies ahead.

One of the more satisfying protests I recently attended was against the Irish regime’s attempts to mass vaccinate Irish school children and to make them mask up in schools. Irish mothers and their children descended on Government buildings in their thousands and a friend of mine, more knowledgeable on such matters, told me the government would quickly fold on the issue. By the following day, the regime, faced with the wrath of hornets’ nests of angry mothers, had reversed its decision and Irish school children were free to breathe again. What was very noticeable about the children protesting was their good behaviour, with many of them bedecked in Harry Potter scarves, and others paying attention to the largely boring speakers and all of them picking up their litter after them.

Though it was a privilege to see those children face down the regime, the same cannot be said for the group of thugs, who tried to riot afterwards and whose sartorial choices showed they were not from the same demographic catchment area as most of the protesters, who only had the best interests of their children at heart.

But these parasites pop up wherever there is momentum. When the Yellow Vests got going in France, Irish copycats set up their own versions, with one of them being based in Sinn Féin’s head office and being fronted by a former Irish Military Intelligence officer. When Ireland witnessed a major campaign to resist water rates, the same charlatans, who had already paid their water rates, moved in to hijack the campaign for their own selfish ends.

Will we get the sponsored and prearranged riots, looting, and general mayhem in response to the Supreme Court’s abortion decision that we got for the death of George Floyd? From Eric Peters at ericpetersautos.com:

“Peaceful Protests” are about to start again – now that the Supreme Court has issued its decision vacating the federal “right” to an abortion, found by a previous Supreme Court in a “right” to privacy nowhere described in the federal Constitution.

It does not mean that those who wish to end the lives of their developing babies aren’t still free to do so – in states where the practice will still be legal. Rather, it means the majority of this court found the “constitutional” reasoning of the court that originally decided Roe v. Wade to be without constitutional substance.

That, of course, is not the way the flying monkeys of the media are explaining it – the straight truth being something the media always distorts whenever it doesn’t serve to advance the agenda of the Left, which has become synonymous with the media.

Instead, the media has conveyed the idea that women who want to end the lives of their developing babies will no longer be “free” to do so. And Leftists in politics said similar, for example, the governor of New York, who said:

“Today the Supreme Court rolled back the rights of millions of Americans, disregarding their interests and — more importantly — their lives. Access to abortion is a fundamental human right, and it remains safe, accessible, and legal in New York.”

And then said the Martha’s Vineyard-dwellling ex-president, who recently also had 2,500 gallons of “climate changing” fossil fuel stored up for his comfort, after having derided the rest of us for the size of our “carbon footprints”:

“Today, the Supreme Court not only reversed nearly 50 years of precedent, it relegated the most intensely personal decision someone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues—attacking the essential freedoms of millions of Americans.”

This Saturday, there will be a rally near the US Capitol to protest the harsh treatment of the people arrested after the January 6th riot. It’s called “Justice for J6,” and a couple of congressional candidates are scheduled to speak.

The head of the Capitol Police is terrified. He has borrowed state of the art “threat monitoring” cameras from the Defense Department that operate day and night.

That big eyeball can turn in any direction and focus close up or far away.

They’ll have these things all over the place, taking super hi-res pictures of everyone there.

There will be a big, black fence around the Capitol to protect it.

The palace of democracy will be behind bars. The Capitol Police will be on high alert with every man on deck.

China Braces for ‘Nightmare Scenario’ As Evergrande Offers Broke Investors Discounted Apartments, by Tyler Durden

We’re keeping an eye on Evergrande because it’s big and interconnected enough that it could be the first domino falling in a chain reaction that leads to a global financial crisis. From Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com:

Up until now the collapse of China’s Evergrande was very much a slow motion affair, captured perhaps best by Forte Securities trader Keith Temperton who said that “the Asian banks will get hit hard if there’s a default, but then there will be a 10-year recovery process. The market’s getting a hang of it. The way they’ve managed the news flow seems quite clever. They haven’t let a swathe of bad news at once.” But while Beijing was indeed successful in extending the period of collapse as long as possible, now that Evergrande is effectively insolvent and having suspended its bonds from trading we have finally gotten to the endgame and the realization that hundreds of billions in capital (Evergrande’s total debt was just over $300 billion) is gone for ever.

This realization has already prompted angry protesters at China Evergrande Group offices across the country as the developer has fallen further behind on promises to more than 70,000 investors. Construction of unfinished properties with enough floor space to cover three-fourths of Manhattan grinds to a halt, leaving more than a million homebuyers in limbo.

In an effort to appease its angry (and very soon, poor) stakeholders, Evergrande plans to let consumers and staff bid on discounted properties this month to repay them for billions in overdue investment products as the embattled developer seeks to preserve cash, according to people familiar with the matter.

According to Bloomberg, the company will organize an online property event by Sept. 30 for investors who opt for discounted real estate in lieu of cash, said two employees who were briefed on an internal call Thursday and asked not to be identified. The world’s most-indebted property developer is pushing the discounted real estate as the preferred of three options for angry investors seeking repayments.

As many of my readers know, I have lived a very contrary to ordinary life. During one of my more exotic chapters, I spent decades as a San Francisco street juggler. It was rewarding … in so many ways.

Often, I was asked to perform at benefits. Usually, I gladly did so. One of those events is firmly etched into my memory. It was an anniversary for the University of California at San Francisco Medical Center.

Just as I was about to go onstage in front of hundreds of children and their parents, I heard an unusual loud thumping sound. As I searched for the location of the noise, I witnessed an astonishing spectacle. Before me, I beheld a tightly-packed battalion of black-robed Grim Reapers. They marched silently and slowly to the solemn throbbing of a solitary drummer boy.

They were protesting the animal testing program at the medical center. Some of them held poles aloft with stuffed kittens and puppies swinging from nooses. It was grim and disturbing. But there was no denying that it was powerful messaging.

This long-ago memory got me thinking about tactics that we could use against the tyrants who are trying to destroy our freedom and enslave us. My hope had been that before our Malignant Overlords could completely ensnare us in their pseudo-medical pandemic net, enough Normies would snap out of their trances and help us defeat this New Normal. But, with all of the recent revelations and goal-post moving, if they still can’t see through the scam, then they will never awaken.

American Surrender Monkeys? by Eric Peters

The “cheese-eating surrender monkey” French are taking to the streets to protest the Covid-19 restrictions, while “brave Americans” sit on their hands. From Eric Peters at ericpetersautos.com:

Some will recall the abuse heaped upon the “surrender monkey” French during the reign of The Chimp. In fact, the French were abused for not going along with the rabid WarrnnnTrrr expostulated, incoherently, by The Chimp.

Now the French are not surrendering to the war upon their bodily integrity. Hundreds of thousands have taken to the streets to make clear their opposition to being Needle Raped and then forced to carry around and present evidence – the “vaccine passport” – of their having laid back and enjoyed it, so to speak.

Which is accurate-speak, unlike The Chimp’s. Unlike practically all the verbiage issuing forth from his heirs  and successors, including the addled old man who is now sending forth swarms of officers to harass the people and do much worse than eat their substance.

The effort afoot – literally, these creatures are headed to your home and you can expect to find them walking up your driveway – is to pressure you into submitting to that which is a kind of medical rape, using a device rather than a member. In both cases, the body is penetrated, contrary to the will of the victim – and a substance is injected. If that is not the working definition of what constitutes rape is then there is no such thing as rape.

Many French are opposed to this – and not just under their breath. They are marching and making it clear to the rapists that rape, whether by member or needle,  is not acceptable to rape people and that they won’t lie back and enjoy it.

So much for the surrender monkeys.

Why aren’t Americans in the streets? Isn’t this the land of the free and the home of the brave? What happened to those people?

Oh, yes. Fauci said boo! – and they said Moo!

  • California Representative Maxine Waters appeared on the Brooklyn Center protest on Saturday 
  • ‘We gotta stay on the street,’ Waters said, encouraging protesters to ignore the night’s curfew
  • She also talked about previous botched attempts at police reform and how she wants to see Derek Chauvin receive a guilty verdict in his trial, which is set for closing arguments on Monday 
  • Earlier on Saturday, protesters marched to the house of Pete Orput, the man responsible for the second-degree manslaughter charges being faced by former police officer Kimberly Potter
  • There were clashes between protesters and police on Friday night, with cops deploying pepper spray
  • Protests have been more peaceful so far on Saturday night at the Brooklyn Center police station
  • Protests are also taking place in other cities across the nation, including Washington D.C. 

California Representative Maxine Waters joined protesters in Minnesota  as demonstrations entered a seventh night on Saturday after the death of Daunte Wright.

Waters told the protesters at Brooklyn Center that she will fight for justice on their behalf and urged them to ‘to get more confrontational’ – just one day after protests descended into violence.

‘I am not happy that we have talked about police reform for so long,’ Waters said. ‘We’re looking for a guilty verdict,’ she added in regards to the Derek Chauvin trial. ‘If we don’t, we cannot go away.’

Some riots are protests and some protests are riots, depending on the participants and their causes, and who’s describing them. From Patrick J. Buchanan at buchanan.org:

To Parliament, in the London of George III, the Boston Massacre of 1770 and the Tea Party of 1773 were not seen in the same light as they were by the Sons of Liberty in the Massachusetts colony.

To Parliament, this was mob violence, and the shooting and killing at Lexington and Concord were acts of insurrection and treason.

But because we won the Revolution, those events are portrayed and remembered differently. For when it comes to riots and revolutions, all depends on who writes the narrative of history. It is the winners.

“Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past,” said George Orwell in his novel “1984.”

To the media, the long hot summer of rioting, looting and arson that followed the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis was driven by “racial justice” protests against a “systemic racism” that permeates society.

The rioters were calling attention to injustices we Americans have failed to address, like police brutality. And almost all of these “peaceful protesters” were calling us to be a better people.

And did not the riots produce beneficial results?
