Science versus Scientism (part 2), by Robert W. Malone, MD, MS

In the whole history of science, “Because I said so” has never held up as a valid explanation for anything. From Robert W. Malone at rwmalonemd.substack.com:

Continued root cause analysis of the COVIDcrisis

Now that Scientism has been defined, and the specific example of Dr. Anthony Fauci and the context and truth of his claim that “attacks on me, quite frankly, are attacks on science” has been examined, lets turn to examining what is “Science”, at least that version of “Science” that I have been taught and practiced for over forty years.

Merriam-Webster: science (noun) sci·ence | \ ˈsī-ən(t)s \

Definition of science

1a: knowledge or a system of knowledge covering general truths or the operation of general laws especially as obtained and tested through scientific method

b: such knowledge or such a system of knowledge concerned with the physical world and its phenomena : NATURAL SCIENCE

2a: a department of systematized knowledge as an object of study: the science of theology

b: something (such as a sport or technique) that may be studied or learned like systematized knowledge: have it down to a science

3: a system or method reconciling practical ends with scientific laws: cooking is both a science and an art

4capitalized : CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

5: the state of knowing : knowledge as distinguished from ignorance or misunderstanding

Personally, I prefer the point of view nicely summarized by Steve Savage

“Science is a verb.”

In an allusion to the John Mayer song, “Love Is A Verb,” Dr. Cami Ryan noted that as with the word “Love,” “Science” is a legitimate noun. But in both cases, it is the action, the process, and the effort – the verb – that really matters.

Science is a verb in the sense that it is a method (activity) involving the making of hypotheses, the design of experiments and the analysis of data.  But a critical part of the scientific process is the conversation phase after the experimentation is done.  Scientists share their findings with the broader community through publications or presentations at meetings.  What happens next is a back-and-forth discussion including a critique of methods or interpretation, and a comparison with previous findings.

If there are flaws in the experimental design or interpretation, other scientists will point that out.  To participate in the conversation, scientists need to be willing to hear and respond to feedback. If there are conflicting results, it may require additional hypothesis making and experimentation.  Only when the conversation runs its course do the conclusions become a part of accepted scientific understanding.

Trillion-Pinchers Lacking Empathy, by Tim Hartnett

The whole college finance system ends up supporting a well-heeled elite of professors and administrators, some of whom do nothing to justify their sinecures and salaries. From Tim Hartnett at lewrockwell.com:

Regular readers of the Washington Post opinion section should give credit where it is due. An enormous divergence of views is presented on their pages. Ideas in 100% opposition often appear on the very same day. That said, how the editors decide if an essay makes enough sense to arrive in print can leave the public overwhelmingly underwhelmed.

On the other hand, some takes on reality are so deluded and deranged publishing them can serve valuable purposes. First, they save detractors from the accusation of attacking straw men. Second, they can act as ideological springboards for launching crackpot notions high enough to get more scrutiny. Third, they provide a lode of asinine quotations that drive home the opposite point that was intended.

Christine Emba splashes A-19 on the Friday, May 6 WP with a belly-flop that soaks every onlooker. Why such a lack of compassion on student debt, barely wastes a word covering what’s wrong with education and economic justice overall from a standpoint guaranteed to make things worse. It starts with the title and continues spectacularly in the first sentence: “Why can’t we let good things happen to other people?” A “good thing” in her reckoning is handing over a sum that could feed roughly 300 million lavishly for a year so the kids can celebrate gender euphoria.

COVID, Gender, Climate, and the Collapse of Science, by Neil A. Kurtzman

When science becomes a tool of government propaganda it’s propaganda, not science, and people afford such “science” the respect they afford propaganda. From Neil A. Kurtzman at amgreatness.com:

As many scientists have behaved like fools, the discipline itself is in jeopardy of being thought stained and unreliable.

Science is in its worst state since the burning of Giordano Bruno (1600) and the trial and conviction of Galileo (1633). The wounds it has suffered are largely self-inflicted. Science advances by questioning the current state of knowledge and by attempting to fill the gaps identified by examination of the germane data pertinent to the discipline. Any attempt to stifle vigorous—even if heated—debate is an assault on science. Over the past three decades dissent from what some consider orthodox scientific theories has been ridiculed rather than refuted.

Consider the interaction between Albert Einstein and Niels Bohr about the implications of quantum mechanics. Einstein constantly peppered Bohr with a litany of objections to the statistical nature of quantum mechanics and pointed to the seemingly astounding implications inherent in the theory. Eventually, Bohr and others were able to answer all of Einstein’s objections to quantum mechanics, but the field was immeasurably advanced by having to deal with the complicated and sophisticated issues raised by Einstein. Einstein’s prestige was so great that he could not be demeaned nor ignored.

Many of the great scientific issues of today seem governed by dogma rather than debate. The inflexible response to the COVID pandemic was pre-conditioned by the anti-scientific restrictions imposed, mostly by scientists, on several major scientific problems that have come to prominence and importance over the past decades.

You’ve Been Misinformed, by James Howard Kunstler

If you don’t instinctively distrust anything you hear from the government or its captive crony institutions, you haven’t been paying attention. From James Howard Kunstler at kunstler.com:

Isn’t it obvious by now that pervasive dishonesty is the foremost crisis of many crises in Western Civ generally and American life in particular? All our authorities have made themselves false, lying their way into the broad collapse of confidence that drives the nation toward some culminating horror show of strife and loss.

The go-to lever of concerted mind-fuckery has been the term-of-art misinformation, applied especially to things and propositions that are truthful — thereby confounding the public’s ability to discern truth in anything, or to discover how they are being misled in matters of life and death. We’ve allowed the worst in human nature to disgrace ourselves. Satan, Father of Lies, is Western Civ’s paragon of disgrace, and so American life appears more and more Satanic and disgraceful.

The New Prison Camps, by Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr.

Modern academia inches ever closer to what Orwell had in mind. From Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr. at lewrockwell.com:

If you want to know what it’s like to live in a totalitarian dictatorship, you don’t have to look far. American colleges and universities, the so-called “institutions of higher learning”, have become the equivalent of Communist reeducation camps in which people are subjected to endless propaganda and compelled to mouth agreement with political slogans. If a teacher or student commits the slightest infraction of “woke” orthodoxy, he will be fired or suspended from his job or expelled from school, His rights do not matter. Students are also subjected to Covid tyranny even more than the general population.

Let’s look at some examples. For the past 75 years or so, Orwell’s 1984 has been the classic attack on totalitarianism. Now, at some universities Orwell’s book has been banned. Daniel Newton gives us the details: “As free speech is destroyed under the guise of ‘wokeism,’ one would agree there is no lack of irony in a recent report that a trigger warning was placed on Orwell’s novel due to ‘offensive and upsetting’ material.

The University of Northampton, UK, placed warnings on the grounds of ‘explicit material’ it claims is contained within the iconic book.

Hunter’s Laptop Is “Totally Irrelevant” Now That It’s Been Validated: Atlantic Journo, by Tyler Durden

If the New York Post story on Hunter Biden’s laptop hadn’t been suppressed by the poodle press and social media it might have been very relevant to the 2020 election. Now, of course, it’s going to be the mechanism to get Joe out of office. The two videos in this story are priceless. From Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com:

“Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to attend a fire prevention speech delivered by an arsonist? Or perhaps a child safety seminar led by a pedophile? Well, that’s exactly what it felt like Wednesday during the University of Chicago’s “Conference on Disinformation and Erosion of Democracy,” featuring some of the greatest promulgators of disinformation and illiberalism in American history.” –The Federalist

Self-proclaimed arbiters of ‘disinformation’ from CNN and The Atlantic made fools out of themselves this week, after college freshmen at the University of Chicago asked several bombshell questions that went largely unanswered.

The event – opened by former President Barack Obama (whose administration used a fabricated hoax dossier filled with literal Russian disinformation to spy on the Trump campaign) – was moderated by former Obama adviser David Axelrod.

Hunter’s Laptop

As Jonathan Turley notes, It appears that some media have a new narrative after admitting that the Hunter Biden laptop is legitimate after all. According to Atlantic Magazine writer and Pulitzer Prize winner Anne Applebaum, the story never did matter because it was just not interesting and “totally irrelevant” to her. Strangely, however, it once did. Applebaum pushed the false narrative as she was slamming others for publishing “Russian disinformation” and using the Hunter Biden story as an example. It only became uninteresting when it turned out to be true.

The English Faucis are even worse than the American ones, by Monica Showalter

It’s hard to believe, but British Covid commissars are even more petty and tyrannical than American ones. From Monica Showalter at americanthinker.com:

Most Americans have had a bellyful of the likes of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the National Institutes of Health bureaucrat who upended society in the name of flawed or absent research in the name of conquering COVID.

It turns out he’s not sui generis, or even a bug in bad system — he’s just a feature.

And now we know where he gets it from.

According to an eye-opening article in National Review by Johns Hopkins professor of applied economics Steve Hanke and the U.K. University of Durham’s Professor Kevin Dowd, the Imperial College of London is kind of a Fauci cubed, based on its constant fear-mongering and bad research models.  The college, unably headed by Dr. Neil Ferguson, wields power in inverse proportion to its competencies.  And that power includes even the U.S.  They begin:

The defining event in the history of Western Covid lockdowns occurred on March 16, 2020, with the publication of the now infamous Imperial College London Covid report, which predicted that in the “absence of any control measures or spontaneous changes in individual behaviour,” there would be 510,000 Covid deaths in Great Britain and 2.2 million in the United States. This prediction sent shock waves around the world. The next day, the U.K. media announced that the country was going into lockdown.

The Rhodes Scholars Guiding Biden’s Presidency, by Matthew Ehret

Rhodes Scholars come with a lot of British imperial baggage. From Matthew Ehret at unlimitedhangout.com:

While the WEF’s Young Global Leader program has recently become infamous, it follows the model of a much older program and think tank established with the ill-begotten gains of Cecil Rhodes

The recent, pandemic-ridden years have involved a steep and often traumatic learning curve for many citizens across the Trans Atlantic. One particularly shocking revelation that has ripped virally across the internet in recent days revolves around the revelations that the World Economic Forum’s ‘Young Global Leaders’ have been positioned across western governments and powerful private institutions over the past three decades.

Videos of Klaus Schwab bragging that Young Leaders have been positioned across the governments of Canada, Argentina, Europe and beyond are now being posted across social media platforms on a daily basis, confirming the suspicions of many that the World Economic Forum is not a benign business networking operation, as it has tried to project for the credulous. Rather, it is something much darker and insidious.

Set up in 1993 as the Global Leaders of Tomorrow and renamed WEF Young Leaders Forum in 2004 (fueled with funds from such benevolent institutions as JP Morgan Chase and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation), over 1400 young leaders (under the age of 38) from both public and private sectors have been processed through the program. For those tapped to become members of this elitist clique, they agree to attend six years of regular WEF conferences featuring seminars, focus groups and other special experiences both at Davos and at regional WEF events, at which point they graduate and become “alumni” who, in turn, become capable of nominating future young leaders.

Is science dead? By Steve Kirsch

So much for open discussion and debate at one of America’s formerly great universities. From Steve Kirsch at stevekirsch.substack.com:

I think so. I asked to give a talk about COVID at MIT, but they couldn’t find a faculty member to sponsor it. Apparently they don’t allow viewpoints that challenge the mainstream narrative.

Twenty four years ago (in 1998), I donated $2.5M to MIT. They named the auditorium in the EECS building named in my honor: the Kirsch Auditorium, Room 32-123.

Kai von Fintel on Twitter: "The audience for Paul Kiparsky's keynote at #NELS50 is gathering. https://t.co/4Iaa8JXj4P" / Twitter

I’ve never asked to speak in the auditorium until now.

I wanted to give a talk at MIT about what the science is telling us about the COVID vaccines and mask wearing and how science is being censored.

I also wanted an opportunity to defend myself against unfair accusations made in MIT’s Tech Review accusing me of being a “misinformation superspreader.”

Am I a misinformation superspreader? Or is MIT one by publishing their article?

Read my rebuttal and decide for yourself who is telling the truth. There were 652 comments, nearly all of them suggesting I sue MIT for defamation.

They couldn’t find a member of the MIT faculty who was willing to sponsor me to give a talk that would examine the possibility that MIT made a serious mistake that jeopardizes the lives of students, staff, and faculty

MIT requires a faculty sponsor for all talks and they said they couldn’t find one willing to sponsor my talk.

DHS: Here is a list of top COVID misinformation spreaders you should investigate ASAP, by Steve Kirsch

A good but not complete list of Covid-19 propaganda shills. From Steve Kirsch at stevekirsch.substack.com:

DHS is now going after COVID misinformation spreaders considering them terrorist threats. Here’s my list of people I think they should be investigating.

Summary

DHS is getting tough on COVID misinformation spreaders, i.e., people who spread information that “undermines public trust in government institutions.”

Since DHS has finite resources to pursue all these perpetrators, as a public service, I have created a list of what I believe are some of the country’s top misinformation spreaders.

I sincerely hope that the DHS will focus their efforts on these individuals since they have made statements and/or taken actions (or refused to take action) that result in the undermining of public trust in US government institutions.

It is extremely easy to tell who is telling the truth here: it’s the people who are not afraid of debate. The one thing everyone on our list has in common is that they will never agree to debate anyone with opposing views.

These people need to be stopped now and I’m grateful that DHS is finally taking this seriously as innocent lives are being lost.

The DHS memo

Read this memo issued yesterday, Feb 7, entitled Summary of Terrorism Threat to the U.S. Homeland.

In particular, check this out this section:

Hmmm…I couldn’t come up with any “violent extremist attacks during 2021” that were inspired by this alleged COVID-19 misinformation. Can you?

To make their job easier to pursue these spreaders of COVID-19 misinformation, I’ve compiled a list of the Disinformation Dozen, the top spreaders of COVID disinformation that are literally killing people through spreading misinformation about COVID.
