The World Before Face Effacing, by Eric Peters

Those of us who were alive and remember what America was like before it became a totalitarian safety state must keep those memories alive and restore what we had. From Eric Peters at ericpetersautos.com:

People who were already grown up by the turn of the last century – the 20th to the 21st – have memories of what it was like to live in a country that wasn’t a “Homeland” in which Security Theater was “practiced” at airports.

Before what has become one of Elagabalus Stage America’s new holy days – Nahhhnnnlevven – one could not only board a commercial flight without having the contents of your underwear examined by a glove-wearing Security Pantomimer in a blue outfit; one could arrive at the gate minutes before the scheduled departure and so long as the plane’s door was still open, you could make your flight.

And with your cup of coffee, too.

It was only 20 years ago. It feels like yesterday. One can almost touch it.

But those who are in their 20s today are disconnected from that time, in memory as well as fact. They grew up in the “Homeland” and regard underwear inspection as the price of being allowed to get on an airplane as normal, because that’s how it has always been – for them.

Diaper Report 5/22/21, by Eric Peters

It will take a long time, maybe forever, for people to get over face-diapering trauma. From Eric Peters at ericpetersautos.com:

Many of us who never got dragooned to kill or be killed in the rice paddies of Vietnam now have an inkling of what PTSD means.

After a year of being remote-imprisoned, denied interaction and denied service all of a sudden, everything is kinda-sorta opening up. One feels as if one has been let out of prison.

Which is exactly what has happened. Only we were never convicted of anything.

It feels weird to just walk into stores again – after nearly a year of not being able to.

The same stores that were closed – to the sane – as recently as a few weeks ago. The stores where you had to walk past a gantlet of threatening signs – No Diaper, No Entry! – and had to gird yourself for the possibility of an attack (verbal, usually – physical, possibly) by a sickness psychotic enraged by your failure to “practice” sickness kabuki.

Even if that didn’t materialize, the sight of Face-Effaced Freaks everywhere – even alone, in their cars – had become so oppressive one stopped being aware of just how much. After months and months of it, unrelenting.

What was funny, initially, morphed into sad and then, angry.

Not my girlfriend . . .

Eventually, it just became incredibly depressing. To know how sick the country had become.

You didn’t want to see it anymore, much less deal with it. So you stayed home even if you didn’t have to.

It is unnerving to see people whose faces you cannot see. You cannot read people when you cannot see their faces. You naturally wonder what is wrong with them – and what they are up to.

Latest Science Now Says We All Must Wear Masks To Prevent Global Warming

From The Babylon Bee:

U.S.—A new study from very credible scientists has revealed that science wants everyone to continue to wear masks for the foreseeable future. This is due to brand new evidence from real science that masks actually prevent global warming.

“The best thing we can do to slow the spread of climate change and sea-level rise is to wear a mask,” said Dr. Antonio Grouci, the newly appointed head of the EPA. “You breathe out deadly CO2 all day and that makes the planet sad. If there’s a chance masks could catch even one CO2 particle and prevent it from entering the atmosphere, we must take that precaution.”

CNN then breathlessly reported that masks must now be worn by all people who don’t want to die in a cataclysmic flood or a killer volcano due to climate change.

Several states are also issuing lockdown orders to prevent people from going outside and polluting the atmosphere with their existence.

Several liberals who were interviewed said they were just happy to have a scientific reason to wear a mask again.

Neurotic America: Masks Today, Masks Tomorrow, Masks Forever, by the Issues and Insights Editorial Board

That so many people became so obsessed with ineffective masking and will continue to wear them when they are no longer required indicates deep cowardice and irrationally. From the Issues and Insights Editorial board at issuesinsights.com:

pxhere.com

A number of retail chains announced last week they are not requiring fully vaccinated customers to wears masks in their stores. Not everyone was happy to hear the liberating news, though. Our country, once a bulwark of the strong and daring, is becoming a land of the fainthearted.

Minutes after The Hill tweeted Friday that Trader Joe’s was no longer demanding that its customers self-suffocate, at least those who’ve been fully vaccinated, the scolds and skittish school marms took their shots before running to hide under their beds.

“Not good,” said one, without explaining why it’s not good.

Other responses included: “I’ve only been there once and it looks like it will be my only time for a while,” and “I will not be going to #TraderJoes 4 a long time.” Many concurred: They’ll also avoid Trader Joe’s. One commenter said he doesn’t know if he’ll ever go back again. All that was missing was Joe Biden calling Trader Joe’s executives Neanderthals and Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank claiming the stores are “America’s No. 1 Death Destination.”

Certainly everyone is free to express their opinions about masks, and everyone is also free to decide to shop elsewhere if they don’t like the Trader Joe’s policy. Yet the response concerns us. Will enough Nervous Nancies and Timorous Toms boycott Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Costco and others that have liberalized their mask policies to force the companies to backtrack on their decisions (which will help restore the humanity dignity that was ripped away by mask rules)? Will they actively picket in front of stores in an effort to bully executives into yielding to their neuroses, fixations, and superstitions

More than that, though, we are troubled by what this tells about America has become. The coronavirus pandemic revealed in stark terms a truth about this country that many of us have long suspected. We’ve grown soft, fearful, perpetually nagging and paralyzed by safetyism. Our prosperity has allowed many of us to feed our eccentricities and disorders, taking us down dark alleys and through doors that lead to grand halls of odd behavior.

(For example, one late pop star’s wealth enabled him to create a fantasy world around his life and to change his appearance in bizarre ways. Had his life been an exercise in basic subsistence, he would not have been able to afford to accommodate the quirks of his personality.)

Democrats Wearing Binkies To Wean Themselves Off Masks

From The Babylon Bee:

U.S.—With the CDC finally relaxing some guidelines around mask-wearing, Democrats are facing the dread of parting with something that has been giving them feelings of safety and security for over a year. To help them cope with the loss, many Democrats are turning to baby pacifiers to help wean them off the masks.

“The binky is a perfect bridge toward a maskless future,” said one Democrat. He then quickly popped the rubber nipple back in his mouth for a few minutes before continuing. “I think it’s important to be open and vulnerable about the trauma we have all experienced in the last year.” He then grabbed his blanket and teddy bear and went down for a nap.

Dr. Fauci has endorsed the use of binkies for vaccinated Democrats, but he’s still suggesting a mask be worn over them at all times.

In his nightly segment, Sean Hannity ridiculed Democrats for being such big babies. “We live in a nation of sissified man babies,” he said before taking a quick hit from his vape pen.

Diaper Report 5/9/21, by Eric Peters

Those who were fixated on masks as both a security blanket and a symbol of compliance have moved on to the vaccine. From Eric Peters at ericpetersautos.com:

These may soon become Needle Reports.

Diapering is waning, apparently everywhere – even in places where compliance with both “mandates” and social pressure was nearly universal as recently as a month or so ago. Even in places where the signs are still affixed, the enforcement is lacking. I reported recently about being able to enter a Hot Zone of sickness psychosis, the Earth Fare store in Roanoke, VA. This place had been closed for months to the face-showing, who had to face a gantlet of BLOCK LETTER, Soviet-style placards before you even got near the door that faces MUST be effaced to enter.

There was also a Gesundheitshilfer by the door to make sure the RULES were obeyed, too.

All gone now, except for an almost-in-passing sign off to the side of the door – inside the door – asking that faces be effaced. There is no attempt to enforce this.

My correspondents around the country are reporting similar.

It makes me uneasy.

Because it is likely temporary.

Weaponized hypochondria hasn’t been treated. It is merely – probably – that millions of its victims have been Needled. They now feel safe and so show their faces. It’s hard to divine any other reason for this sudden, visible change – unless it is that people have become sick of playing sick. I’d like to think so – but the past year has taught me to have little faith in the average person’s capability to resist the effects of TeeVee (and sail fawn) fear programming.

“Shame On Us” – Emotional Georgia Mom Begs School Board: “Take These Masks Off My Child”, by Tyler Durden

Making kids who have almost no chance of getting Covid-19 wear masks is a travesty. A Georgia mother gets to the heart of the matter. From Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com:

While Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter are chock full of virtue-signaling sheep declaring their double, triple, quadruple masking efforts; their personal sacrifices for the greater good of all mankind (against a virus that leave 99.7% of those infected unharmed); and blindly following the ‘science’ from political operatives who need a crisis to drive their agenda; one Georgia mom has had enough.

Instead of virtue-signaling to the world, Georgia mother Courtney Ann Taylor blasted Gwinnett County Board of Education members for requiring children to wear masks despite evidence that kids are largely safe from COVID-19, demanding, “take these masks off of my child.”

Taylor slammed the board who for months have proclaimed the importance of “social, emotional health” telling them, “if you truly mean that, you would end the mask requirement tonight. Tonight.”

Texas Ended Lockdowns and Mask Mandates. Now Locked-Down States Are Where Covid Is Growing Most, by Ryan McMaken

Who would have thought that sunshine and letting people breathe helps fight Covid and keeping people locked up and rebreathing their own respiratory garbage doesn’t? Ryan McMaken at mises.org:

Early last month, Texas governor Greg Abbott announced he would end the state’s mask mandate and allow most businesses to function at 100 percent capacity.

The response from the corporate media and the Left was predictable. California governor Gavin Newsom declared the move “absolutely reckless.” Beto O’Rourke called the GOP a “cult of death.” Joe Biden called the move “Neanderthal thinking.” Keith Olbermann insisted, “Texas has decided to join the side of the virus” and suggested Texans shouldn’t be allowed to take the covid vaccine. Vanity Fair ran an article with the title “Republican Governors Celebrate COVID Anniversary with Bold Plan to Kill Another 500,000 Americans.”

Other states have followed in Texas’s wake, and Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia are now all states where covid restrictions range from weak to nonexistent.

Georgia and Florida, of course, are both notable for ending lockdowns and restriction much earlier than many other states. And in those cases as well, the state governments were criticized for their policies, which were said to be reckless and sure to lead to unprecedented death. Georgia’s policy was denounced as an experiment in “human sacrifice.”

The Gradual Return of Good Sense, by Jeffrey A. Tucker

An article laced with, hold on, optimism! Americans are gradually coming to their senses about Covidiocy. I can only hope that it eventually reaches New Mexico. From Jeffrey A. Tucker at aier.org:

President Biden made a statement last week that Americans might be able to gather in small groups by July 4, to celebrate Independence Day. One wonders who is protecting him from the reality: most of the country is almost entirely back to normal.

Outside of California and some Northeast states, the lockdowns have largely ended, with ever more states repealing restrictions and mandates. Reimposing them for any reason seems almost unthinkable at this point. Anthony Fauci’s constant prattle about the dangers of opening up is falling on deaf ears.

The few states that are still locked down are rapidly losing residents and businesses. States that are entirely open are gaining them. As for the travel against which the CDC warns, the nation’s airports and highways are back to pre-lockdown levels of normal. The slogan “land of the free” is starting to mean something again.

Even the New York Times, which has led the lockdown effort for longer than a year, is starting to back peddle, finally. An article called “I Would Much Rather Be in Florida” points out:

[M]uch of the state has a boomtown feel, a sense of making up for months of lost time.

Realtors cold-knock on doors looking to recruit sellers to the sizzling housing market, in part because New Yorkers and Californians keep moving in. The unemployment rate is 5.1 percent, compared to 9.3 percent in California, 8.7 percent in New York and 6.9 percent in Texas. That debate about opening schools? It came and went months ago. Children have been in classrooms since the fall….

Florida’s death rate is no worse than the national average, and better than that of some other states that imposed more restrictions, despite its large numbers of retirees, young partyers and tourists. Caseloads and hospitalizations across most of the state are down….

Try to buy a home and the experience is frustrating for a different reason: an open house will have 30 cars parked outside. Though Florida’s population growth has slowed during the pandemic, documentary stamps, an excise tax on real estate sales, were 15 percent higher in January than they were a year ago. Filing fees for new corporations were 14 percent higher.

What “Mandates” and Signs Could Not Do . . . by Eric Peters

Eric Peters examines one of the most insidious guilt trips. From Peters at ericpetersautos.com:

My nice older neighbor lady – the one I wrote about a few weeks ago, who finally had enough of being pressured to wear a Facial Burqa by stores and by her friends and stopped doing it and damn the consequences – has given in to the pressure to get jabbed.

As applied by her family.

One of her daughters may end up being responsible for actually killing granny – the exhortation usually directed at the Unburqa’d, who did nothing of the kind – in order to shame them into wearing one.

She exhorted my neighbor, who is also a grandmother, to get the Jab for her sake. Because otherwise she – the daughter – might get the ‘Rona and die, from exposure to her Unburqa’d (and presumably plague-suppurating) mother when she comes to visit her granddaughter  . . .or via the granddaughter, who is attending college and stops in to visit her grandma and might bring home the ‘Rona.

My friend had the resilience to say No to stores and friends when it came to the wearing of the Burqa but the family guilt-tripping wasn’t something she could withstand and so she got the Holy Jab.

Even though it might end up killing her, as it already has more than 1,000 people so far – not counting the people who have suffered other “adverse events,” as they are styled.

This is a woman – in her 70s – who does not fear “the virus.” She has told me that even if it were as dangerous and deadly as advertised – which she knows it isn’t, not being as susceptible to fear as her daughter obviously is – she would never allow it to make her live in cringing fear of it because in that case there’s no longer much point to clinging to life, which becomes a mere fact of biology – like a living corpse hooked up to a machine with a flat brain wave – rather than something worth preserving.
