The Left Got What It Wanted—So Now What? By Victor Davis Hanson

What is happening now is all the left has ever wanted—chaos and destruction, and the reign of pure, totalitarian incompetence. From Victor Davis Hanson at amgreatness.com:

There is no schadenfreude in seeing the Left destroy everything it touches—because its claws tear all of us as well.

What was the purpose for the insane opposition of the Left between 2017 and 2021? To usher in a planned nihilism, an incompetent chaos, a honed anarchy to wreck the country in less than a year?

Then

No sooner had Donald Trump entered office than scores of House Democrats filed motions for impeachment, apparently for thought crimes that he might, some day, in theory, could possibly commit.

Foreign Policy published an article by a liberal Obama Administration lawyer outlining all the ways to remove an elected president as soon as possible—including consideration of a military coup.

The FBI and the entrenched bureaucrats at the Justice Department continued their prior failed efforts during the campaign to seed the lies of the fabricated Steele dossier and Fusion GPS. A 22-month-long and $40 million hoax ended with the special counsel himself, a doddering Robert Mueller, swearing under oath that he essentially knew nothing about the dossier or Fusion GPS—the twin catalysts that had prompted his very own investigation.

Fired FBI Director James Comey—a lion on Twitter, and a lamb when under oath—on over 240 occasions testified to the Congress that he either did not know or could not remember, when asked details about the collusion fraud that the philosopher G-man had helped perpetuate.

No one worried about the weaponization of government. So, we went right from the nefarious legacy of John Brennan (who lied under oath to Congress twice), James Clapper (who lied under oath to Congress once), James Comey (who leaked confidential presidential memos), Andrew McCabe (who gave false testimony to federal investigators), Lisa Page (who was fired from the special counsel’s legal team for various unprofessional conduct), Peter Strzok (about whom there is not enough space to detail his transgressions), and the now convicted felon Kevin Clinesmith onto the next round of impeachments.

Trump Finally Concedes He Only Won 2020 Election By A Small Margin

From The Babylon Bee:

PALM BEACH, FL—At a press conference held at the Mar-a-Lago Club today, former President Donald Trump finally acknowledged that he didn’t win the 2020 election by a massive landslide, and that he only won it by a normal, narrow margin.

Trump said he was convinced by mounting evidence coming out of recounts and audits in various states and now agrees that he did not win the election by 10 million votes, but “probably more like 2 or 3 million” overall.

“After reviewing all the evidence, I’m willing to concede that I didn’t win the 2020 election by a record landslide margin, and only won it by a smaller, normal margin,” he said somberly to reporters. “I’m a fair guy. Maybe the fairest ever. And I know when I’m wrong. People say that to me all the time. They say, ‘Hey, Don, you know what I like best about you? Your intelligence. But do you know what I like second best about you? Your humility and your willingness to admit when you’re wrong.’ Very smart people say that, all of ’em.”

“So I come to you humbly now and ask your forgiveness for being slightly wrong about just how many votes I won by.”

Trump then demanded Biden leave the White House now that he has conceded that he only won by a decent margin.

Just 10,000 Tune In To Biden 4th July Live Stream, by Steve Watson

Just as in the election campaign, Biden draws nobody, Trump draws huge crowds, but somehow Biden won. Sure he did. From Steve Watson at summitnews.com:

That equates to around 0.003% of the population

The numbers are in. Joe Biden struggled to engage any Americans on the Fourth of July as he ordered them to get vaccinated, calling it the most patriotic thing anyone can do for their country.

As he squinted and stumbled through a 15 minute speech on the White House lawn that was solely devoted to fear mongering about COVID, fewer than 10,000 people joined the YouTube livestream.

That equates to around 0.003% of the population.

Yet he received a record 81 million votes in the election, apparently.

The figure is also four times less than the number of people who attended President Trump’s huge Independence Day rally in Florida on Saturday.

In addition, a whopping 375,000 tuned in live to watch Trump’s event.

Scientists Admit Lab-Leak Hypothesis Was Valid Last Year – But Kept Quiet Because Of Trump, by Tyler Durden

Why would anyone follow the Science when the scientists behind it admit that they followed the Politics? From Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com:

Last month, a group of 18 scientists published a letter calling for a deeper investigation into the origins of COVID-19 which would give serious consideration to the lab-leak hypothesis – which posits that the virus escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Now, several of those scientists, including MIT and Harvard geneticist Alina Chan, admit that scientists avoided the lab-leak hypothesis because they didn’t want to be associated with then-President Trump, according to NBC News.

Chan said there had been trepidation among some scientists about publicly discussing the lab leak hypothesis for fear that their words could be misconstrued or used to support racist rhetoric about how the coronavirus emerged. Trump fueled accusations that the Wuhan Institute of Virology, a research lab in the city where the first Covid-19 cases were reported, was connected to the outbreak, and on numerous occasions he called the pathogen the “Wuhan virus” or “kung flu.”

The shift reflects how some scientists who previously avoided the topic or were quick to dismiss it are grappling with enduring uncertainties about the virus’s origin, free from the politicization that clouded such discussions during the Trump administration.

So while America was told to follow the science, scientists chose to play politics.

Yet Another Media Tale — Trump Tear-Gassed Protesters For a Church Photo Op — Collapses, by Glenn Greenwald

We’ve lost count of how many stories the legacy media has made up to discredit Trump. Here’s one of the more egregious, from Glenn Greenwald at greenwald.substack.com:

That the White House violently cleared Lafayette Park at Trump’s behest was treated as unquestioned truth by most corporate media. Today it was revealed as a falsehood.

CNN with Anderson Cooper and Jim Acosta, June 1, 2020

For more than a year, it has been consecrated media fact that former President Donald Trump and his White House, on June 1 of last year, directed the U.S. Park Police to use tear gas against peaceful Lafayette Park protesters, all to enable a Trump photo-op in front of St. John’s Church. That this happened was never presented as a possibility or likelihood but as indisputable truth. And it provoked weeks of unmitigated media outrage, presented as one of the most egregious assaults on the democratic order in decades.

This tale was so pervasive in the media landscape that it would be impossible for any one article to compile all the examples. “Peaceful Protesters Tear-Gassed To Clear Way For Trump Church Photo-Op,” read the NPR headline on June 1. The New York Times ran with: “Protesters Dispersed With Tear Gas So Trump Could Pose at Church.” CNN devoted multiple segments to venting indignation while the on-screen graphic declared: “Peaceful Protesters Near White House Tear-Gassed, Shot With Rubber Bullets So Trump Can Have Church Photo Op.”

The Orange Needler, by Eric Peters

Donald Trump has canceled out whatever good he might have done while in office with his response to the coronavirus and his endorsement of vaccines. From Eric Peters art ericpetersautos.com:

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

That the Orange Man is dangerous – even more dangerous than his (s)elected successor – has just been established beyond doubt, provided one isn’t blinded by sick worshipful reverence for the spray-tanned man, whatever he does or doesn’t do.

He didn’t do anything to stop the spread of mass hysteria – the weaponization of hypochondria. Which is precisely the right word to describe the manufacturing of mass hysteria over a sickness with a 99.8-something percent recovery rate.

This was – is – a crime against the people of the United States.

That he “didn’t know” or “acted out of good intentions” or was “stymied” by the “swamp” is of a piece with if only Stalin knew!  – a reference to Soviet-era dupes who regarded “Uncle Joe” as a benevolent patriarch who would never have allowed his underlings to ship people off to the camps.

If only Stalin knew!

Well, the Orange Man knew, too. Maybe not at first; maybe not last January-February-March or so. He is entitled to the benefit of the doubt for that.

But by July-August-September, the facts were known – to anyone who cared to exert even cursory effort to look into them, surely the duty of the president of the United States – who took an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution, which was shat all over as if by a flock of diarrhea-afflicted seagulls in the name of “stopping the spread” . . . of a virus so not-lethal its existence probably would never even have been noticed had it not been for the organized, deliberate fear-mongering which the Orange Man did nothing to counter.

It Got Serious In A Hurry, by Robert Gore

He’s a joke, but nobody’s laughing.

Trump’s five years were fun. He said things that provoked outrage among all the right people, often because they were true. You could laugh at their hypocritical idiocies, hysterical posturing, and sputtering anger. To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, anyone who can watch Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow without laughing has a heart of stone. Frothing anger fueled effort after effort to depose Trump until success was realized with overblown pandemic panic, riots, and a clearly rigged election. If nothing else, Trump exposed the mendacity, arrogance, incompetence, venality, and criminality of the Corruptocracy.

Reality doesn’t invert. A corollary is that the severity of consequences from an inversion is the square of the distance between the inversion and reality. Consider the US military. It has disregarded the realities of the wars it has fought—the relative difficulty of invasion versus defense, the deadly effectiveness of guerrilla warfare and insurgency, the corruption, tyranny, and lack of domestic support for our puppets, and so on—losing every conflict since WWII, often after lengthy and in some cases ongoing engagements.

The current crop of corruptocrats have introduced yet another inversion in the military, the woke inversion. The military will now be graded on its commitment to combat-irrelevant factors: the racial, ethnic, gender, sexual preferences and political creeds of its forces, and their professed fealty to regnant political dogma. In other words, “diversity” in everything but thought.

This inversion is huge and given the distance squared corollary, it will soon render the armed forces incapable of fighting even a war for the protection of the United States proper. Given its ineptitude fighting offensive wars, the military will be completely useless. The defense budget, however, will grow ever more bloated.

Joe Biden aspired to mediocrity in his prime and it’s been downhill ever since. As for Kamala Harris: some are born hacks, some achieve hackness, and some have hackness thrust upon them. She’s all three. They and their string-pullers have taken things from fun to serious—deadly serious—in a little over two months.

The Failure of Huff and Puff Foreign Policy, by Doug Bandow

Most of the world sees US politicians’ bluster for what it is: bluster. From Doug Bandow at antiwar.com:

The Tougher Hawks Talk, the Worse They Perform

For all their talk of peace through strength, American hawks favor windbag diplomacy. In their view there is no international problem that cannot be solved with theatrical hyperventilating leavened by threats and insults. The more serious the challenge, the more they bloviate. Failure only inflates their inner windbag.

President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo were experts in this tactic. They imagined U.S. foreign policy as an alternative ending for the tale of the Big Bad Wolf. All they had to do was huff and puff harder and longer, and the bad guy’s house would always fall down.

The Trump administration most famously took this approach with Iran. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action significantly lengthened Tehran’s “breakout time” for developing a nuclear weapon and created internal pressure on the regime to open up economically to the West. Even hardliners like Defense Secretary Jim Mattis backed continuation of the agreement despite having misgivings when it was first negotiated.

However, Trump abandoned the pact, insisting that reimposing economic sanctions would force the Islamic Republic to make a gaggle of additional concessions. Pompeo gave an imperious speech at the Heritage Foundation, setting Iran’s surrender terms – Tehran’s abandonment of its sovereignty, independent foreign policy, and defensive deterrent in 12 easy steps. All that was missing was the stipulation that Iranian leaders would be expected to genuflect, heads touching the floor, to the president before signing the capitulation before the entire world.

How the US military subverted the Afghan peace agreement to prolong an unpopular war, by Gareth Porter

After the election, Trump wanted to pull all US troops out of Afghanistan, once and for all. The military couldn’t allow that to happen. From Gareth Porter at thegrayzone.com:

Appointed in the final days of Trump’s presidency to remove all US troops from Afghanistan, Douglas Macgregor tells The Grayzone how military leadership undermined the withdrawal and pressured Trump to capitulate.

In an exclusive interview with The Grayzone, Col. Douglas Macgregor, a former senior advisor to the acting secretary of defense, revealed that President Donald Trump shocked the US military only days after the election last November by signing a presidential order calling for the withdrawal of all remaining US troops from Afghanistan by the end of the year.

As Macgregor explained to The Grayzone, the order to withdraw was met with intense pressure from the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), Gen. Mark M. Milley, which caused the president to capitulate. Trump agreed to withdraw only half of the 5,000 remaining troops in the country. Neither Trump’s order nor the pressure from the JCS chairman was reported by the national media at the time.

The president’s surrender represented the Pentagon’s latest victory in a year-long campaign to sabotage the US-Taliban peace agreement signed in February 2020. Military and DOD leaders thus extended the disastrous and unpopular 20-year US war in Afghanistan into the administration of President Joe Biden.

Is Eric Swalwell The Answer To Trump’s Prayers? by Jonathan Turley

Trump may get “official” vindication on the July 6 “insurrection” after all. From Jonathan Turley at jonathanturley.org:

Below is my column in The Hill newspaper on the complaint filed by Rep. Eric Swalwell against former president Donald Trump. Swalwell just filed a complaint that could prove to be the vindication that Trump has long sought in the riot in the Capitol on January 6th.

Here is the column.

French philosopher Voltaire said he had only one prayer in life — “O Lord, make my enemies ridiculous” — and that it was uniformly granted by God. The answer to Donald Trump’s prayers may be Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.). It is not because of Swalwell’s relationship with a Chinese agent or the bizarre defenses of him, including one Democrat insisting he deserved the Medal of Honor. It is because Swalwell’s lawsuit against the former president could offer Trump the ultimate vindication over his role in the Jan. 6 riot on Capitol Hill.

Swalwell’s 64-page complaint against Trump — along with son Donald Jr., Rudy Giuliani, and Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) — alleges nine counts for relief, from negligent emotional distress suffered by Swalwell to negligence in the “incitement to riot.” One might think this would be a lead-pipe cinch of a case. After all, an array of legal experts has insisted for months that this was clear criminal incitement, not an exercise of free speech. As a civil lawsuit, it should be even easier to win, since the standard of proof is lower for civil cases.

Yet, for more than four years, many of these same experts claimed a long list of “clear” crimes by Trump that were never prosecuted or used as a basis for impeachment. Likewise, despite similar claims of criminal incitement, roughly three months have passed without a criminal charge against Trump. District of Columbia Attorney General Karl Racine insisted weeks ago that Trump’s alleged crime would be investigated. Yet any such prosecution likely would collapse at trial or on appeal, and people like Racine are not eager to prove Trump’s case.
