Anti-Trump and NeverTrump Republicans won’t help Democrats. America and the world should start preparing for Donald Trump’s return.

As we get to the midpoint between the last presidential election and next year’s midterms, all political sides are expending extraordinary effort to ignore the 900-pound gorilla in the formerly smoke-filled room of American politics. This, of course, is Donald Trump.

The Democrats are still outwardly pretending Trump has gone and that his support has evaporated. They also pretend they can hobble him with vexatious litigation and, if necessary, destroy him again by raising the Trump-hate media smear campaign back to ear-splitting levels.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), even as she finds the ground shifting beneath her feet over the administration’s incontinent spending ambitions, is seeing her effort to promote the January 6 trespass at the U.S. Capitol as an outrage on the scale of Pearl Harbor and 9/11 overshadowed by the Afghanistan disaster and the cascade of other blunders and improvidences of the Biden Administration.

Apart from a few veteran and some recently recruited NeverTrumpers joining in the tired pieties about the regrettable January 6 episode, the Democrats appear to be repeating the mistakes of 2016. They hope formerly mainstream Republicans who failed to repel the GOP base from supporting Trump will have better luck this time.

It remains true that a large group of Republicans (and no small number of Democrats) basically agree with most or all of Trump’s policies but regard the man as a distasteful carnival operator whose “Trump University” and health care plan (consisting of urinalysis and vitamins for a healthy quarterly fee) are simply not acceptable for a holder of the great office of president of the United States. Many have implied by their ambiguity that they could live with Trump again if his manners improved and his tactics became less bombastic. The acid test being unwisely applied to Trump’s acceptability as a rehabilitated candidate is his humble acceptance of the legitimacy of the election of Joe Biden as president.

Who benefits from the massive surge of migrants crossing our southern boarder? Obviously, more is involved than just compassion for millions of poor Guatemalans and their children. And while adding future Democratic voters is clearly the long-term aim of those tolerating the invasion, there is one group of immediate beneficiaries whose needs have garnered scant attention: affluent Americans whose comfort depends on armies low-wage, happy-to-please foreign-born workers. The awkward truth is that millions of upscale Americans risk transforming the US into a banana republic in pursuit of creature comforts. Like those wretched masses wading across the Rio Grande, they, too, want a better life.

Beyond a certain income level, the appetite for material objects declines. Even the mega-rich can consume only so many giant TV’s, fancy cars, and other pricy goodies. With physical needs largely satisfied, services become central—waiters and cooks in upscale restaurants, dutiful nannies and maids, gardeners and countless others whose jobs are essential to “the good life.” Automation can get you just so far in enjoying one’s wealth. After you pay $1000 for a top-of the line German dishwasher, somebody else has to load and unload it.

Life in New York City illustrates this good life/open borders nexus. Spanish, as spoken by those appearing to be Mestizo ancestry, is the lingua franca in restaurants, hotels, parking garages and small grocery stores and delicatessens. For the last 17 years I’ve lived in full-service apartment buildings in the city, and the staff are disproportionately from overseas. In elevators I encounter short distinctly Hispanic women carrying laundry to basement washing machines or pushing strollers with little blond children. Immigrant similarly dominate taxies and Uber—drivers are disproportionately Asians, Bangladeshi, and Indians. During bad weather, even blizzards, armies of Hispanic men on bicycles deliver take-out to the home-bound rich.

Border Patrol Ordered To Chase Immigrants With Segways And Pool Noodles

U.S.—The Border Patrol has been stripped of their horses, as they seemed to like riding them around and pretending to be Indiana Jones with their reins according to Jen Psaki and Joe Biden. Now, they are being issued fresh equipment: Segways and pool noodles, which will be used to keep unruly immigrants in line as they flood across the Rio Grande. “This represents a massive step forward for the treatment of people ignoring our laws entirely,” said Psaki at a press conference Friday. When a reporter asked about how this would affect the border crisis, Psaki responded, “Would you like a chocolate chip cookie or a warm raisin cookie?” And everyone clapped. The new order handed down today will force the Border Patrol to wave their pool noodles and playfully slap immigrants as they come into the country, while the Segways will allow them to chase the refugees, so long as they stay on paved roads or travel through any kind of indoor mall. “This is a victory for all countries around the world,” said Psaki. “Well, except one.”

Update (1120ET): Fox News’ Bill Melugin tweets a new aerial visual of the 15,000 migrants under Anzalduas Bridge in Mission, Texas.

Update (0958ET): The utter failure of the Biden administration to take control of the border crisis unfolding under the Anzalduas Bridge in Mission, Texas, resulted in Governor Greg Abbott sending State Troopers and National Guard members to secure the area.

New figures from Fox News’ Bill Melugin estimate nearly 15,000 migrants are currently under the Anzalduas Bridge as they wait to be processed by Border Patrol agents. Melugin has flown his drone over the area to show an aerial view of the increasing migrants, mostly Haitians, crossing the Mexico–US border and gathering under the bridge.

The border between Mexico and the state of Texas is 1,242 miles long, from Brownsville on the Gulf of Mexico to El Paso deep inland, where the state of Texas meets the state of New Mexico. The entire border, all twelve hundred miles, is formed by the Rio Grande river.

About halfway along that border on the Texas side is the town of Del Rio, population 35 thousand, eighty percent of them declaring themselves Latino. Largest employers: a U.S. Air Force base and a prison.

Across the Rio Grande from Del Rio, in Mexico, is the town of Acuña, which is much bigger—four times the population of Del Rio. I imagine the proportion of Acuñans declaring themselves Latino is very close to a hundred percent, but I can’t find confirmation of that.

If you drive from Mexico into Texas, there’s a fine expressway over the river that eventually becomes U.S. Route 277. The expressway is elevated across the river of course, then continues to be elevated for the first half mile or so into Texas.

Then you come to an official Port of Entry, with a CBP [Customs and Border Protection] station that will process your entry into the U.S.A.

Should you choose not to drive, and so long as the Rio Grande is running low, you can wade across from the Mexican side to the Texas side [Migrants at Texas bridge pose challenge for Biden, Irish Times, September 17, 2021]. That is, you can walk into the U.S.A. Once in Texas, if the sun is really hot you can walk in the shade under the expressway.

You can’t walk far, though. A couple of hundred yards into Texas you come to a chain-link fence patrolled by CBP. So you’re stuck there between the river and the fence, in the shade of the expressway overpass if you’re lucky, otherwise on the bare sandy earth nearby or the adjacent scrub.

This wasn’t supposed to happen.  We were promised that once Joe Biden was in the White House that the tremendous anger that was building up in our country would start to subside, but that obviously is not happening.  In fact, as you will see below, Americans have been getting even angrier.  Needless to say, the stunt that Joe Biden pulled last week is certainly not helping matters.  When he visited Boise on Monday, enormous crowds of extremely angry protesters were waiting for him.  And everywhere I go on social media this week, I am seeing huge explosions of anger.  What in the world is our country going to look like if all of this anger continues to grow?

Normally, it is either one side of the political spectrum or the other that is angry at any given time.

But here in September 2021, both sides of the political spectrum are very angry.  Just check out these stunning numbers from a brand new CNN poll…

A new CNN poll finds that 74% of U.S. adults now say they are “very or somewhat angry” about the way things are going in the U.S. today — that includes 88% of Republicans, 70% of independents and even 67% of Democrats. But wait, there’s more.

Another 69% of U.S. adults now say that things are going “pretty or very badly” in the country these days — that includes 91% of Republicans, 72% of independents and 49% of Democrats.

Those numbers are crazy.  Just a few months ago, there was so much optimism, but now the mood of the nation has completely shifted.

Our Afghan Atomic Bomb—Insane Foreign Policy Meets Insane Immigration Policy, by John Derbyshire

Our government invades countries, create victims and refugees, and then recognizes that we owe them something for screwing up their lives. So we bring them to the US. From John Derbyshire at unz.com:

We are now out of Afghanistan. This is such a relief after twenty years of futility, Joe Biden has been getting thanks from some surprising people—Ann Coulter and Richard Spencer, for example.

I’m as glad as they are. But I think the appalling mess Biden’s people made of the evacuation cancels out any gratitude due to the president. When the Soviet Union, on its last geriatric legs, made a cleaner, cheaper show of withdrawing from Afghanistan in defeat than we have, heads should roll.

A basic atom bomb depends on a mass of nuclear material going into a spontaneous fission reaction. You put two or more subcritical masses into some device, keeping them apart from each other. Then, when you want an explosion, you bring them together to form a critical mass. Bang!

Similarly, the current mess is the result of two subcritical masses of insanity coming together:

Our foreign policy insanity—these dumb missionary wars we keep getting involved with—has been a constant for decades now. It’s possible we have finally learned our lesson; but I seriously doubt it. I look forward to milking that insanity for commentary as long as I can work a keyboard.

So let’s see what this week has shown us about our immigration insanity. The focus of concern: the floods of Afghans we have taken in.

The original idea, which seemed reasonable (at any rate to me) was that we should take in and settle Afghans who had trustingly put their lives on the line to help us advance our foreign policy, as insane as that policy was. That would be a fair and decent thing to do.

The Special Immigrant Visas program was, like the war in Afghanistan, poorly defined and poorly executed. Still is.

The story of Afghans fleeing their country seeking Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs) is the story of the war.

In the hubris of 20 years ago, no one could conceive the U.S. would need to evacuate locals who worked with us. Instead, they would form the vanguard of a New Afghanistan (and then Iraq). Admitting some sort of escape program was needed was admitting our wars were failing, and so progress implementing the SIV program was purposefully very slow. When it became obvious even in Washington that we were losing, an existing State Department perk for local employees was hastily remade into a covert refugee program.

Even then, with no one wanting to really acknowledge the historic scale of our failures, the SIV program was never properly staffed to succeed. Instead, it was tarted up to appear to be doing something good while never having any plan in place to do that good, like the war itself. Admitting we had a refugee program for countries we had liberated was a tough swallow.

Now, at the end, the Afghans who trusted the SIV program—trusted us—will randomly be rushed through the pipeline to make a few happy headlines, or left behind to their fate on the ground. No one now in the government actually cares what happens to them, as long as they go away somehow. At best the SIV program will be used to create a few human-interest stories to help cover up some of the good we otherwise failed to do. Hey, Ghazari made it to America and she’s a YouTuber now!

During testimony before the Congress of the United States you stated:

“I want to understand white rage, and I’m white…What is it that caused thousands of people to assault this building and try to overturn the Constitution of the United States of America?…I want to find that out.”

Well, General, I am a 76-year-old white man, a former officer in the United States Army (1967-70), and a retired Special Agent of the FBI with nearly 29 years of service (1971-1999).  I attended Trump’s rally on January 6th and I think I may be able to help you understand the reasons for “white rage.”

You impugn the motives of hundreds of thousands of patriotic citizens: whites, blacks, Hispanics, and Asians, male, female, young and old.  They weren’t trying to overturn the Constitution!  They wanted nothing more than to make their voices heard and, if possible, delay the certification of an election they believed, with probable cause, was stolen.  You and the media repeatedly claim Trump’s allegations of a “stolen election” are false.  Neither you, I, nor anyone else know whether this is true or not because the evidence (hundreds of witness affidavits signed under penalty of perjury, pristine mail-in ballots, xeroxed ballots, the synchronized shutdown of ballot counting in 5 swing states until observers were removed from the election headquarters, etc.) has never been tested in court or disclosed to the people.

Apparently, my presence in Washington, DC on January 6th qualifies me, in your estimation, as one of those “outraged white people” you want to understand.  Since you appear to be somewhat intellectually challenged, let me give you just 13 easy to understand reasons for my “white rage” as you like to call it.

It would only be cruel to burden readers with more opprobrious denunciation of the pathetic figure pretending to lead the nation, but it might be fair to ask: what is to be done about him? It’s looking a little bit as though “Joe Biden” is skidding toward resignation. His body language suggests defeat. When newsman Peter Doocy asked him Thursday evening on live TV about the thirteen American soldiers blown up outside the Kabul airport, he folded up in front of the cameras like a broken accordion. Poor optics, as they say in the spin business. This was after he kept the country waiting for five and a half hours to even make an appearance when news of the bombing broke.

His managers installed a “poison pill” named Kamala Harris as his vice-president, and even members of her own party get the vapors at mere fugitive thoughts of her trying to run the country, giggling from one crisis to another. Meanwhile, the veep cut short her tour of Southeast Asia, rushing to aid beleaguered California Governor Gavin Newsom at a rally to fight his recall vote… but then cut short her Newsom rescue mission to fly on to Washington. Electioneering during the greatest hostage crisis in US history probably equals more poor optics. She will presumably spend the days ahead “standing by” on developments, within reach of the Xanax vial — while a claque of party bigwigs importunes her to get rolling on the 25th amendment.
