100 Years of Fascist Propaganda: The Lincoln Memorial’s Centennial, by Thomas DiLorenzo

The Lincoln Memorial is festooned with the symbol of fasces—a bunch of rods bound together with a strap. Fasces is also the root word of fascism. In light of Lincoln’s tenure and what has followed, the symbolism is appropriate. From Thomas DiLorenzo at lewrockwell.com:

The Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. turned 100 on May 30, so I thought I’d add my two cents to all the tributes being paid to “America’s most beloved monument,” as one conservative publication described it.   If you’d like to know what you’re teaching your children and grandchildren to worship and revere when you take them to visit the Lincoln Memorial, I suggest reading a U.S. National Park Service (NPS) publication by one Nathan King entitled “Secret Symbol of the Lincoln Memorial.”  This is the U.S. government’s explanation of the meaning of the Lincoln Memorial.

The “true meaning” of the Lincoln Memorial according to the National Park Service that administers it is represented by a “ubiquitous symbol” that is all over the monument, inside and out.  That symbol is the fasces, a bundle of rods bound together by a leather thong.  This is said to represent “the higher meaning of the memorial and the man.”

The fasces was originally used in the Roman Empire as “a symbol of power and authority,” says the NPS publication.  It “represented that a man held imperium, or executive authority.”  Exercising that “authority” a “leader could expect his orders to be obeyed, could dole out punishment [to those who disobeyed him], and could even execute those who disobeyed.”  That man, in the American tradition, would be Abraham Lincoln in particular, and all of his successors in general.  It means that Jefferson’s declaration in the Declaration of Independence that governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed is null and void.  From Lincoln on forward, government in America derives its “just powers” from itself.  Its “powers” are whatever it says they are.  The word “fascism” of course has its roots in the word “fasces.”

The Globalists’ Race Against Time, by Eamon McKinney

The world just refuses to move in lockstep with the globalists’ plans. To the globalists, that stems from flawed people, not flawed plans. From Eamon McKinney at strategic-culture.org:

A Great Reset will happen, just not the one intended by the Globalists. They may have to settle for the Great Decoupling instead.

The green economy, de-industrialisation, digital health passports, Central Bank digital currencies, these are all core components of the Globalists’ plan for the Great reset. The WEF has painted a picture of their proposed future via Klaus Schwab and his acolytes. “We will have nothing, own nothing and be happy”. The main obstacle to this grand vision is that not surprisingly very few countries wish to go along with it. The Globalists know their game is coming to an end and the Great Reset is their way of ensuring that the same financial cabal that has brought the world to its current lamentable state will continue to rule over all in the next world order. The most prominent objectors to this insidious plan are of course Russia and China. Unlike their western counterparts both have strong leaders who enjoy popular support, have strong economies and are optimistic about future prospects for growth. Neither intends to sacrifice their countries so that Western elites can maintain their control over the Global economic system and impose their self-serving will on weaker nations. Which in its simplest terms is why both countries need to be destroyed, at least economically before the Great Reset can be imposed on the world. Time, however, is not on the Globalists’ side, recent events have demonstrated that they are aware of this and are accelerating their timelines.

Thoughts on Justice Alito’s Draft Opinion, by Andrew P. Napolitano

The right to life is the ultimate natural right and if life begins at conception then Alito’s draft opinion reaches the wrong result—leaving the matter up to the states—on the wrong Constitutional rationale. From Andrew P. Napolitano at lewrockwell.com:

In the pilfered draft opinion authored by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, he wrote that Roe v. Wade — the court’s 1973 opinion that prohibited the states from banning abortions during the first six months of pregnancy — and Planned Parenthood v. Casey — its 1992 opinion that modified Roe but essentially upheld it — were both egregiously wrong when decided, are egregiously wrong today and so should be overruled.

The practical effect of overruling Roe and Casey will be to return the issue of the lawfulness of abortion to the states, thus liberating all states to legislate as they wish — to ban all abortions or to permit them even AFTER the moment of birth.

Though I agree that Roe and Casey were and are wrong, I do so for reasons differently than those stated in the Alito draft. One of those reasons — that unenumerated rights today must have a long history of recognition — is deeply troubling to those who believe that personal sovereignty trumps governmental power.

Turn The Page, by The Zman

It’s time for old ideas, and the old folks who espouse them, to die. From The Zman at thezman.com:

In America, what is called the political Left operates within a few modes of thought tied to seminal events on the Left. One if the civil right era, another is the Watergate era and the other is interwar Europe. All events are framed by this period. If they do not fit these models then they are usually ignored. Of course, their framing of these periods is cartoonish and absurd. It is all easy to understand heroes and villains, who are stripped of moral ambiguity and nuance.

What passes for the Right has always been an echo of the Left, so they have evolved similar framings. It took a while but the 1980’s is one of their primary frameworks for talking about current events. They are always looking for the next Reagan, Thatcher or Bill Buckley among the current mediocrities. Their answer to almost every issue is a slogan from the high water point of conservatism. Modern conservatism is a cargo cult where current members ape the members of the past.

Oh God It’s Going To Get SO Much Worse, by Caitlin Johnston

It’s about time the government sanctified the principle that if the government says it, it’s got to be true. From Caitlin Johnstone at caitlinjohnstone.com:

Rightists have spent the last couple of days freaking out and invoking Orwell’s 1984 in response to something their political enemies are doing in America, and for once it’s for a pretty good reason. The Department of Homeland Security has secretly set up a “Disinformation Governance Board“, only informing the public about its plans for the institution after it had already been established.

The disinformation board, which critics have understandably been calling a “Ministry of Truth“, purportedly exists to fight disinformation coming out of Russia as well as misleading messages about the US-Mexico border. We may be certain that the emphasis in the board’s establishment has been on the Russia angle, however.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, in her patented “You’re such a crazy idiot for questioning me about the White House” manner, dismissed alarmed questions about what specific functions this strange new DHS entity was going to be performing and what its authority will look like.

Children Must Be Made To Work, by Paul Rosenberg

Spare the work and spoil the child. Spoil the children and they never grow up. From Paul Rosenberg at freemansperspective.com:

Children are ignorant, but not stupid; small, but not insignificant. And while the role they are able to play in the world is necessarily limited, it need not and should not be zero.

Children need to work and to contribute to their families; not so much for the sake of the family, but for their personal development. Children need to learn responsibility at a very early age; they must know that they can contribute, and since their natural tendency is to evade work in favor of play, they must be made to work.

The level of their work should be matched to their abilities, of course, but the phrase, “You’re part of this family and you have to work too,” is something they should hear at a young age. Work must become part of family life for them. More than that, it probably should not involve monetary payment: this is about self-responsibility and being a contributing member of the family. Money can come later, as their work expands. Family is more important than money, and should stand above money.

Texas Governor Directs State To Bus Or Fly Illegal Immigrants To DC As Title 42 Ends, by Isabel van Brugen

What a great idea! From isabel van Brugen at The Epoch Times via zerohedge.com:

exas Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday said that his government will provide charter buses or flights to transport illegal immigrants released from federal custody into its territory to Washington D.C.

The Republican made the remarks during a press briefing, saying that his state on the southern border has been “overwhelmed by hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the Biden administration.”

We are sending [the illegal immigrants] to the United States capital where the Biden administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across our border,” Abbott told reporters.

The measure comes in response to the lifting of Title 42 by the Biden administration last week.

Behold The Expert Class, by Good Citizen

The presumptuous class would like to do away with any “reality” not approved by the presumptuous class, reality of course being an always shifting concept, a matter of molding public perception and mood, not the “reality” some of us learned through hard experience would whack us upside the head when we ignored it. From Good Citizen at thegoodcitizen.substack.com:

MGM to Adapt Rodney Dangerfield Comedy 'Back to School' as Unscripted Series - Variety
Rodney Dangerfield in Back To School (1986) PhD in Marine Biology

Lia Thomas tucks his penis into her swimsuit as he takes to the starting block in the NCAA women’s 500 Yard Freestyle finals which allow men to participate as long as they take some level of hormone suppressors to sufficiently pacify some body of “experts” on some committee at the NCAA assigned to arbitrate such things.

Presumably this testosterone suppression doesn’t involve reading Buzzfeed, The Huffington Post, drinking extra soy and being a moderator of a subreddit devoted to rare editions of magic cards. Though none of these things are necessary anymore as the average male testosterone levels have declined by two thirds over the past forty years without taking anything at all so we can safely assume that there’s hardly a need for such an arbitrating body to oversee this process at all.

Both the fact that such a body exists in our world, and that environmental conditions have lowered men’s testosterone levels don’t just portend our coming dark ages, they may well signal their full arrival. Men who cannot be protectors and guardians of a civilization, will soon find themselves without one. Perhaps this too is by design. With all that has happened the past two years alone, the endless biological crimes against humanity you’d think there’d be some men out there willing to rain hellfire down on those we know are responsible hiding in plain sight, and yet, apparently there are no more lions left to roar for our pride. More on all that soon. Back to the nuts.

The Hive Mind, by The Zman

Left-wing political philosophical is mostly driven by personal insecurity. From the Zman at thezman.com:

One of the transcendent features of left-wing people, regardless of time and place, is their complete lack of self-awareness. The great blind spot for all left-wing people is the reflection in the mirror. They are incapable of seeing themselves other than as the hero in a great struggle. This story out of Canada about the correlation between Covid-loving and Putin-hating is a great example. The Left thinks it confirms their righteous hatred of their enemy, but it merely confirms their lack of self-awareness.

According to the story, “Unvaccinated Canadians are about 12 times more likely than those who received three doses to believe Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine was justified, according to a new survey by national polling firm EKOS.” Now, polling is a dodgy business, so this could be a fake poll designed to titillate the far-left. The fact that such a scenario is possible, however, is more proof of the general thesis about the far-left’s lack of self-awareness.

Bonfire of the Governments, Part Two, by Robert Gore

091513syria_1280x720
wsj.com

Welcome to the bonfire of the governments, history’s greatest conflagration.

Part One

Think of an activity that’s essential for a government bent on subjugation: censorship and the suppression of expression. Governments on both sides of the present conflict have further jacked up their efforts to control expression from the plateau reached with Covid. Russia just passed a law imposing a 15-year prison sentence for anyone spreading “fake news” about its invasion of Ukraine. The U.S. and European governments and lapdog legacy and social media have blanketed populaces with official propaganda. Just as with Covid, questions and deviations from the approved narrative are stifled, censored, and punished.

It was all so much easier back in the post World War II, pre-internet good old days. In the U.S. and Europe, there were several “papers of record” that had been infiltrated by intelligence agencies, and state-licensed radio and television stations. In the Soviet Union there wasn’t even that, just a few official propaganda organs.

Yet even with that degree of control, government repression wasn’t wholly effective. In the U.S. the truth got out about the Vietnam War. The Soviets could stop everything but people talking with each other, albeit in hushed tones. The cynical humor became legendary. (“They pretend to pay us, we pretend to work.”) Humor always contains an element of truth, which is why statists can’t do humor. The number of citizens red-pilled to Soviet corruption and incompetence and the comparative freedom and wealth of the West reached critical mass and the government fell. It took way too long, but it happened.

Today, there are billions of potential journalists and video producers—anyone with a cell phone and access to the internet—and trillions of text and email communications. People still occasionally engage in face-to-face conversations. The infrastructure needed to monitor all this is complex, gargantuan, and costly. Only algorithms and artificial intelligence can sort through it to identify threats to the state. Once identified, a separate infrastructure is necessary to apprehend, arrest, process, incarcerate and perhaps execute those engaged in wrongthought, wrongspeak, wrongwrite, and wrongact.
